This policy applies to the Readink apps, websites, related services and contents we provide (collectively, "Readink" or “Services”or“Platform”). This Privacy Policy (the "Policy") describes our policies and procedures on the collection, use, disclosure, and sharing of your Personal Data (defined below) in connection with Readink, and sets out your choices and rights in relation to that Personal Data. In addition, please review the applicable terms of use for the Properties, which governs your use of the properties and services.
The information we collect depends on how you use the platform and the choices you make. We collect information about you from different sources and in various ways when you use our products, including information you provide directly, third-party data sources, information collected automatically, and data we infer or generate from other data. More information about the categories and sources of information is provided below:
Information you provide us:
Profile Date. If you access or use Readink as a registered user, we will collect certain information that you provide to us in relation to your account, typically your username, nickname, age, gender, email address and profile photo.
Payment information. If you are a paying user, we may collect payment information to complete a commercial transaction on Readink.
Contact information. If you provide feedback or contact us, or otherwise provide information voluntarily to us, our employees, the data will be collected by us as well.
Information from Third Parties
Social networks. If you choose to register to use Readink with a social networking credential, such as with a third-party account (e.g., Facebook, Google, Apple), we will ask permission to access basic information from that account, such as your name, age, email address and public profile. We will likewise share certain information with the relevant social network such as your app ID, access token and the referring URL. You can stop sharing that information with us at any time by removing our access to that account.
We automatically collect certain information from you when you use the Platform including when you are using the App without an account. Such information includes:
Identifiers and device information. We automatically log your IP address, mobile carrier, time zone settings, device identifiers including mobile advertising IDs, and the version of the app you are using. We will also collect information regarding the device you are using to access the Platform such as the model of your device, the device system, network type, device ID, your screen resolution and operating system.
Usage data. We automatically log your activity on the Platform, including the data relating to different app events (e.g., app activation, clicks, purchases, downloads, plays, reads, book ratings, usage duration, bookmarks, bookshelf and thoughts management, sharing and searches, including searches for books or keywords), purchase history, top-up records, bonus information, book feedback, analysis and improvement settings, and other details about your use of and actions on the Platform.
Customer support information. We may collect details of your interactions with our customer service, such as the date, time and reason for contacting us, transcripts of any chat conversations.
We use your information to provide the Platform to you and to improve and administer it.
We generally use each of the categories of information we collect for the following purposes:
To provide the Platform services
To improve and develop our Platform and conduct product development
To measure and understand the effectiveness of the advertising we serve to you and others and to deliver targeted advertising
To use User Content as part of our advertising and marketing campaigns to promote the Platform
To understand how you use the Platform, including across your devices
To infer additional information about you, such as your age, gender, and interests
To help us detect abuse, fraud, and illegal activities on the Platform
To ensure that you are old enough to use the Platform (as required by law)
To provide customer support and respond to your questions
To communicate with you, including to notify you about changes in our services
To enforce our terms, conditions, and policies, and to meet our legal obligations
Consistent with your permissions, to provide you with location-based services, such as advertising and other personalized content
To inform our algorithms
To combine all the information, we collect or receive about you for any of the foregoing purposes
For any other purposes disclosed to you at the time we collect your information or pursuant to your consent.
We may share your personal data with selected third parties in or outside your country, including:
Our business partners so that we can make you special offers via the Platform;
Service providers or agents that provide services to us for any of the purposes described in this policy, such as cloud storage providers to store the information we collect and for disaster recovery services, as well as for the performance of any contract we entered into with you;
Analysis and advertising providers to help us in the optimization and improvement of the Platform and to help us serve targeted adverts.
We may also share your information with any members, subsidiaries, or affiliates of our corporate group, to provide the Platform including improving and optimizing the Platform, preventing illegal use and supporting users.
We may share your information with law enforcement agencies, public or tax authorities or other organizations if legally required to do so, or if we have a good faith belief that such use is reasonably necessary to:
Comply with a legal obligation, process or request (including tax and related reporting requirements);
Enforce our Terms of Service and other agreements, policies, and standards, including investigation of any potential violation thereof;
Detect, prevent or otherwise address security, fraud or technical issues; or
Protect the rights, property or safety of us, our users, a third party or the public as required or permitted by law (including exchanging information with other companies and organizations for the purposes of fraud protection and credit risk reduction).
We will also disclose your information to third parties:
In the event that we sell or buy any business or assets (whether a result of liquidation, bankruptcy or otherwise), in which case we will disclose your data to the prospective seller or buyer of such business or assets; or
If we sell, buy, merge, are acquired by, or partner with other companies or businesses, or sell some or all of our assets. In such transactions, user information may be among the transferred assets.
Finally, we may share de-identified information in accordance with applicable law.
Please note that the Platform may include references or links to products provided by third parties whose privacy practices differ from ours. If you provide personal data to any of those third parties, or consent to our sharing personal data with them, that data is governed by their privacy policies.
The information that we collect from you may be transferred to, and stored at, a destination outside of your country. It may also be processed by staff operating outside your country who work for us, for one of our suppliers or one of our business partners. By submitting your information, you agree to this transfer, storing or processing. We will take all steps reasonably necessary to ensure that your information is treated securely and in accordance with this policy and applicable law.
We use certain physical, managerial, and technical safeguards that are designed to appropriately protect Personal Information against accidental or unlawful destruction, accidental loss, unauthorized alteration, unauthorized disclosure or access, misuse, and any other unlawful form of processing of the Personal Information in our possession. Please be aware that no security measures are perfect or impenetrable. We cannot and do not guarantee that information about you will not be accessed, viewed, disclosed, altered, or destroyed by breach of any of our physical, technical, or managerial safeguards.
We take measures to delete your Personal Information or keep it in a form that does not permit identifying you when this information is no longer necessary for the purposes for which we process it, unless we are required by law to keep this information for a longer period. When determining the retention period, we take into account various criteria, such as the type of products and services requested by or provided to you, the nature and length of our relationship with you, possible re-enrolment with our products or services, the impact on the services we provide to you if we delete some information from or about you, mandatory retention periods provided by law and the statute of limitations.
7. Advertising and analytics services provided by others
We may allow third-party partners to serve personalized ads on our behalf across the Internet and to provide analytics services. The ads may be based on various factors such as the content of the page you are visiting, information you enter such as demographic data, usage data and other information we collect from you. These ads may also be based on your current activity or your activity over time and across other websites and online services and may be tailored to your interests. These third-party partners will collect, use, store, share or otherwise process your information solely for the purpose of providing you personalized ads. We neither have access to, nor does this Privacy Policy govern, the use of tracking technologies that may be placed on your device you use to access the services provided by such non-affiliated third parties. If you do not agree on such third-party partners’ privacy policy or are unwilling them to process your personal information, please do not agree or accept this Privacy Policy. In addition to the above, we also provide advertisers and/or advertisement agencies with reports about the kinds of people seeing their ads and how their ads are performing. To provide you with personalized ads, we also share certain information with these third parties, such as your IP, GAID, device version, country code, and network type. We also work with third-party partners who help us provide and improve the App and our Services. We do not sell any of your information to anyone. We also impose strict restrictions on how our partners can use and disclose the information we provide.
You can request deletion of your data at any time by contact us at: support@readink.app . We will evaluate such requests on a case-by-case basis. We may keep some of your data for as long as reasonably necessary for our legitimate business interests, including fraud detection and prevention and to comply with our legal obligations including tax, legal reporting, and auditing obligations. Sometimes, your request will only be satisfied by closing your account.
You have the ability to delete your Account, and you should understand that upon deletion of your Account, you will lose the right to access or use all or part of Readink.
Readink reserves the right to change this Privacy Policy at any time. Please revisit this page periodically to stay aware of any changes to this Policy, which we may update from time to time. If we modify this Policy, we will make it available through the Service, and indicate the date of the latest revision. In the event that the modifications materially alter your rights or obligations hereunder, we will make reasonable efforts to notify you of the change.
