Part 7

/Her POV/

I heard someone clear their throat from behind and I immediately turned around only to see it was the owner.

"If you don't mind can I suggest something?" He coughed while adjusting his glasses. For someone who was old and fragile, he held himself and looked quite energetic.

Before I could say something Edward hummed, raising his eyebrows in the direction of the old man.

"There is a fair just an hour from here. They have also set up the barbeque in the park"

My eyes lighted up at the thought of visiting a fair. It's been a while and also we had nothing to do for four hours. So it was definitely something I was interested in. I turned around to look at Edward and I had the same expression as mine.

"What is the name of the town again?" Edward questioned, pocketing his hands inside the pants.

"Andersvilla. It's not very well known but you can easily find the directions once you spot the brown board on the highway" The old man warmly smiled and forwarded something in the direction of Edward. It looked like a map but it was too small to be a map.

"Uh, what is it?" I immediately asked turning towards Edward.

The old man cleared his throat, "I handed him the visiting card of my friend. He owns a stall in the fair and it would be easy for you to locate the town"

Oh. I thought turning towards him. He was being so helpful. I nodded my head.

"Thank you so much."

He grinned, shaking his head. And for a moment I was reminded of the Clown from IT. Even though that clown had a wide face and evil intentions, the old man in front of me did not have anything like that.

"Should we pay for the order now or?"

He shook his head, "No no it's fine. You can pay me after you receive the order"

Edward gave him a mock salute and with that, we walked out of the bakery. Even though I was craving to eat something inside I controlled it. Not only because it was crowded and I was unable to breathe but I was excited to try the food in the fair.

"So are we going?" I asked, peeking in his direction. He put on his aviators and a grin tugged at the corner of his lips.

"Of course"

The drive to the fair was actually longer than an hour. Because Edward was distracted by his stupid thoughts we had to pull over and head in another direction. Even though I wanted to curse him for making me wait in the car I held back. The heat was making me irritated and the fact that we did not have any water left was adding fuel to the fire.

"How long?" I moaned, looking in his direction.

For the first time, I felt like I should have dressed in absolutely nothing. The heat was prickling at my skin and I could feel the sweat dripping down my back. Thank god that we had a freshener in the car.

"Ask that question one more time and I am jumping out of the car" Edward glared, tightening his grip on the steering wheel.

I rolled my eyes at his dramatic behaviour. I asked the question only four times. What was the harm in answering for the fifth time?

"How long?" I teased, trying to push with buttons even though I could see how annoyed he was.

Edward gritted his teeth, breathing through his mouth. He strained his head to look in my direction, "It's like you want me to die"

"Glad you could figure that out after five attempts" I huffed shifting my leg. I was tempted to cross my legs and push the seat back so that I can sleep. But I did not trust myself. If I slept I was sure he was going to leave me in the car to get the revenge for annoying him.

"I am sure that old man tricked us into leaving his bakery. There is no fair!" He huffed, tapping his fingers impatiently against the steering wheel.

Why would anyone lie about the fair? And it's an old man who ran a bakery. It didn't make sense at all, before I could argue with him I spotted the bright Ferris wheel few miles away.

"I knew it! I knew he wasn't lying" I slapped his arm in excitement and held back my giggle. It was difficult not to gloat in his face that I was right. Of course, no one in the right mind would lie about the fair.

"Yeah yeah" He grumbled under his breath, turning the wheel around and accelerating towards the corner.

I felt a bit of excitement flutter inside me at the thought of going to the fair with him. Was he thinking the same? I looked over but he was concentrated and did not even pay attention in my direction. Of course or we would have crashed.

Five more minutes of driving and we were finally outside of the huge fair. Surprisingly it was bursting with people, the various number of cars lined up on the ground. Edward narrowed his eyes as if he was not expecting so many numbers of people. He parked the car at the edge and we finally got out.

"Sir! Here!" A voice screamed behind us.

Edward turned around along with me. A man was handing us the parking fee. I zoomed in on the receipt and glared at him. Why were they charging so much just to park a car? It was ridiculous. But I was held back as Edward shoved some dollar bills in his direction and walked away from him.

"Why did you pay him? It is ridiculous the amount of money they are charging"

Edward shook his head, "Have you seen the board?"

"What board?" I asked and looked over my shoulder but I was already far away.

"That man is collecting money for tree plantation. No parking. He just handed the ticket so that people can donate indirectly"

My mouth parted slightly at that. I did not even see the board but it was nice of Edward to give the money. Maybe he was not a jerk after all.

"That's nice" I weakly said, hiding my smile.

Edward hummed softly and continued walking, not really acknowledging the compliment.

It took us a while to get inside with all the crowd pushing at us. The people were lined up for every ride and I was really excited to sit in the huge Ferris wheel.

Although it can be easily mistaken for an amusement park with all the rides it wasn't. For one they had ample stalls, consisting of women's jewellery, toys, cheap cosmetics, home appliances and clothing etc. There were many locals around us because all I could hear was their language.

"This heat is making me hungry" Edward squinted his eyes as we passed the nachos stall.

I licked my lips, my eyes still set on the nachos with the cheese dripping on the sides. Maybe I should actually enter the inside and eat them instead of staring.

"Should we eat nachos?" I asked him.

He stared at me for a few seconds and then looked back at the stall as if he was not sure whether to walk inside or not. It looked healthy for a stall.

"Ahh fuck it. Let's go" Edward chuckled and rushed inside the stall. I giggled and followed him, very well knowing that he wanted to go to that barbecue instead.

We waited in line, grinning at each other like fools and then staring at the cheese fountain. I looked around and noticed the corn dog stall in front of it.

"Hello. Welcome to Andersville Nachos. Would you like to try the classic ones or customise the nachos?" The redhead asked, displaying the sauce and sour cream in front of us.

Edward stared at me, an undecidable look on his face. I was having the same problem because there was so much variety and it was difficult to choose.

"Let's go with the classic," We both said it in unison and then laughed about it.

The redhead boy behind the counter smiled and took the order. Classic nachos were everything you would expect while watching football. Or soccer. Whatever you want to call.

Edward picked the basket and we trailed at the end of the tent. He dived in, moaning as he picked the first chip.

"These are really good" He cried with a mouthful. I rolled my eyes at him and picked one for myself.

Few minutes passed and we were able to eat half of the basket when I noticed that Edward was staring at me. I arched my brow, suddenly feeling subconscious of his intent stare.

"What? Is it something on my face?"

His lips twitched and he pointed at his own lips, "You've got something here"

Blushing at that I furiously dabbed at my lips, trying to rub away. He shook his head.

"May I?"

I breathed sharply, not knowing whether to accept his offer or not. Finally, I gave in and nodded my head, feeling my cheeks hurt. My eyes followed his moment as he bought his arm up and leaned down.

With his thumb, he rubbed the sauce away from the corner of my lips, all the while maintaining eye contact. My breathing was ragged, and I could see the dark look in his eyes as he finally moved his hand away.

Instead of wiping his thumb on the tissue he pushed it in his mouth and sucked on it. My thighs clamped at the action and I looked away, unable to bear his eyes on me. Why was that so hot? Just the thought of pressing my lips against his made my stomach clench.

It was quiet after that, we both avoided staring at each other but I could feel his stare occasionally on me.

"Uhh..." I cleared my throat and raised my head to look at him.

"We should go" I pointed in the direction of another stall. He finally met my eyes and nodded his head, dumping the empty basket in the dustbin.

"Please please number 54"

I had my fingers crossed, praying for the very moment. It was so intense that I could feel everyone around us, holding their breath.

What started as the fun ring game, intensified when I challenged Edward that I needed the huge teddy bear. I should have just kept my mouth shut but I had to push it.

"You can do it!" I faintly whispered as he pushed his arm back and with the full force threw it on the number.

It landed on 54. I screamed. He did it.

Edward turned towards me, a huge grin on his face and I rushed to hug him. He did it.
