Chapter three - I don't need, no, I don't want.
Chapter three - I don't need, no, I don't want.
[AZRAEL]
Sitting down in my office chair, looking over the enormous piles of documents placed on the desk in front of me, I sighed in annoyance. Sometimes I hate being an Alpha. No, let me take that one back. I hate the paperwork, not my rank.
I took a phone out of my pocket and called our maid Mathilda. It's a weird habit of mine, makes me feel more human - calling someone instead of using mind-link.
"Could you please bring me a cup of coffee?" I asked politely. If my mother has taught me something, it's respecting all my pack members; it doesn't matter what rank are they or title they carry.
"Of course, Alpha. Is that all, or should I bring some cookies as well?" she spoke kindly. Mathilda has been around since I was born, so she has been like a grandmother to me.
"No, thank you, that will be all," I said and ended the call before placing my phone on the desk.
Tonight is going to be a long night, indeed. I tried to make myself more comfortable in the gigantic chair, almost ready to start looking through piles of paperwork when my office door flew open, and very angry she-wolf rushed inside my office. I could feel low growl forming in my chest; my wolf and I both getting irritated by uninvited guest showing disrespect toward us.
"Next time remember to knock," I said calmly, knowing that I might piss her off even more. Like I care. No, I don't care about her feelings, I do care about my pack members, it's late, and they all deserve to rest.
"Oh, boo-hoo, why the fuck I have to knock if I decided to visit my damn boyfriend? Be grateful I even showed up," her sassy voice filled the room. Sometimes she irritates the Hell out of me. I rolled my eyes mentally; this one person alone can fill the whole room with the stench of drama without any extra effort.
"More as always, she sure does irritate me whenever she's around," my wolf growled and instantly went back to ignoring me.
I sighed and looked up at her.
"What is it Sam, you never visit without reason," I stood up and checked the time. It was almost midnight, an unusual moment for her to annoy me.
"You recently received an invitation from Marie, and you didn't say shit about it to me! I'm your Goddamn girlfriend, Azrael, and you keep secrets from me!" my so-called 'girlfriend' now yelled from the top of her lungs. Oh Lord, can she be even louder?
I rolled my eyes and turned around, facing the window. It will take time until Sam will calm down, I shall wait when her damn temper tantrum comes to an end.
"Or just kill her," my wolf suddenly spoke.
"Tempting, but we can't," as soon as he heard my answer, he decided to continue his silent treatment. He has been moody since I officially started dating Samantha. I was lost deep in my thoughts, completely forgetting Samanthas presence in toom when someone gently knocked on the door. I turned around and smiled after the smell of fresh coffee and pine trees filled my nostrils.
"Come in," I said as I knew my mother has decided to visit me. She is a gift from Moon Goddess herself if you ask me.
"Don't you see we're in the middle of something important, mutt?", Samantha spoke as she turned her face to my mother. Her voice, full of anger and poison. Huh, someone seems to have a real death wish, exciting. I leaned over my desk and growled at her, without any hesitation, she turned around and gasped.
"Samantha, you are not to disrespect my mother! You have 3 seconds", I said through gritted teeth. My wolf was going crazy, fighting to take over and kill my girlfriend.
"I'm so sorry, baby, bad habits," she spoke, faking her apology.
"3... 2...", I started counting, knowing that all I want now is to kill that ungrateful brat for disrespecting my mother.
"Will you get your annoying ass out of here? Shoo- shoo slut, I need to talk to my son!" my mother suddenly spoke. A light laugh escaped my lips, and Sam rushed out of my office like a storm.
In the meantime, mom placed a cup of coffee on my desk and came closer to me. Her weak arms wrapped around my waist, and I instantly pulled her into a hug.
"You need to rest, hun, you have been working so hard lately, a lot more than usual," she spoke, still holding onto me.
"I will, mom, in a matter of a fact, I'm going out today," I looked down at her and smiled, being genuinely grateful for all love and care she keeps on giving, even though I'm a grown man. A bright smile appeared on her lips almost instantly. She looked at me and sighed.
"And what are you really up to, hun?", mom spoke, letting go of her grip and sitting down onto the couch.
"Nothing. For now, my main priority is to drink coffee until I forget about my other priorities. And maybe my name too", I joked, and we both burst out in laughter. I love the careless, silly moments we share during the days, despite all odds, we manage to find happiness within ourselves.
"You are going out, hun, it's not up for discussion. You need to, as you young wolves say, "chill out," your friend is on his way, better go, get dressed," mom winked at me and stood up, slowly walking towards my office door.
"Wait, mom!" I stopped her, placing my hand over hers before she manages to leave.
"Why did you come? I know that you sneaked that cup of coffee from Mathilda, but what was your reason to visit me?", I questioned her, rather calmly. My mom does love being around me, yet by now, she always is asleep. She has always been the person who enjoys sleeping.
"I wanted to talk about you finding a mate finally. I'm not getting younger, I want grandchildren, and truthfully, your new girlfriend irritates me," she said before she managed to open my office door, sneak out like a tiny, sneaky woman she is and closed the door behind her.
"I don't need, no, I don't want one!" I yelled loudly, making sure that she could hear me. Too proud to let the topic slip, yet too afraid to say that while looking into her eyes. Yes, exacly, the Big Bad Wolf is scared of his mother. She might be short and reached a certain age, but the fire in her is still more than alive; she could whoop my ass as she did when I misbehaved as a child.
"Oh, just stay quiet and go take a shower before your friend arrives!" she yelled from what seems to be downstairs.
Well then, I'm going out tonight. I guess.
