“You look great!” Ivelle chirps as soon as I get into her car. It’s freshers and she is at my house to pick me up. I am wearing a blue dress that looks great with my brown hair. I also chose to put very minimal makeup and wear very simple earrings that my mother picked up for me.

“You look so beautiful!” Lisa compliments me too. Both of them are sitting in the front while I am in the back seat.

“Thank you. You too look very beautiful too!” I tell them as Ivelle drives away from my home. “Do you have any plans after this party?” I ask them.

“Not really but we can hang out in my apartment if you want,” Ivelle informs and we decided to go there after the party ends. I start feeling anxious as soon as Ivelle pulls up her car in the parking lot. I ignore the feeling before heading towards the grand auditorium where the party was being hosted.

It was crowded with people. I hated it right away but having Lisa and Ivelle made it bearable. We spotted some of our classmates in the crowd and decided to stick with the group. I spotted Holly and her friends in the group as well.

They notice us as well. We receive judging looks from them but chose to ignore them for the most part. A locally popular band has been invited to play for us. The lead singer has already taken over with some catchy songs to increase the level of excitement in the crowd.

The crowd is lively as the deep bass shakes the auditorium through the huge speakers. The flash of colorful lights makes the experience even more thrilling. It’s like an indoor concert. The rush of adrenaline in the blood adds to the thrill of the experience.

In this crowd and the music, one could easily get lost. For once, I find myself letting go off all that holds me back and let the music guide my body. The slow rhythm of the song and the melodious voice of the singer lures everyone in the room to move.

I don’t realize when I have started to dance with the people around me. Lisa and Ivelle are enjoying the moment too. My eyes fall on Holly’s group standing by the corner. None of them are dancing. They are just standing and looking at everyone. My best guess is they are judging people. Her eyes fall on me and a look of disgust climbs on her face.

I look away, without giving much thought to her before enjoying the music. The music changes soon and we decide to take a break. I notice that refreshments are being served so I decide to grab something to drink because I was hot from dancing. Ivelle and Lisa had gone out to get some fresh air since they were feeling claustrophobic.

As I near the crowd, something tugs at my dress. When I turn around, I find that the fabric of my dress had gotten stuck in Holly’s bracelet. Holly notices this at the same moment. She gives me a nasty look and before I could do anything, she tugs her hands away with so much force that I feel a part of fabric being torn.

I instantly feel everyone’s eyes on me as my dress comes loose. Holly’s group instantly roars with laughter. Without thinking much, I clutch my dress dearly to my chest before spinning on my heels and running towards the exit.

The crowd parts for me as I run for the exit with what’s left of my dignity. My eyes swell up with tears while a low sob rises in my throat. The stares I get from the crowd burn my skin and burns all of my self-esteem away.

I break off into a run as soon as I manage to get outside the auditorium. The corridor was empty as I ran towards the parking lot.

“What happened to you?” Ivelle meets me in the parking lot with Lisa. I don’t need to answer their question because my torn dress tells them about the humiliation that chased me out of the auditorium.

“Please… take me home,” I choke out my words. Ivelle doesn’t delay a moment as she guides me to her car before we get into it. I break off into tears as soon as the doors are shut. The sound of the car’s engine coming to life accompanies my cries as Ivelle drives out of the parking lot, taking me away from the terrible place.

-HIM-

“She is not here,” I tell Brooke after scanning the crowd. It’s fresher’s party and I came here with hopes that I may find her here. Even though the place is crowded with people, I combed through the crowd to look for her but I found nothing. Besides, I have this gut feeling that she is not here.

Broke sighs before she takes out her phone and starts dialing Davis’ number.

After contemplating, we had come to the conclusion that my mate is someone new in the college because if she were an old student here then I would have found her long ago. This implies the fact that she might be a fresher and if she is not a fresher then she might be one of the new admits in the 2nd or 3rd year. This makes it harder for us to find her.

Even though we have just started to find her, I already feel discouraged. Something in me tells me that she is somewhere out there but whenever I get closer to her, she runs away. I wonder if she is a werewolf and if she is doing this knowingly. I would be hurt if she were to know that I am his mate and still chooses to run away from me.

I excuse myself before heading towards the building. I want to be alone to think properly. Suddenly, something stirs inside me and I feel pulled towards the exit. Acting on my instincts, I storm towards the exit.

I almost lose control when her scent hits me. It’s the strongest here as if she has been here moments ago. My eyes fall on a piece of blue cloth lying on the floor. It smells like her. She is here!

My ears pick up faint footsteps. They seem to be running away. I am fast on my feet. My nose is up in the air, following the trail of her scent. I hear a whimper echo in the hallway ahead of me and I increase my speed.

I’ll have her tonight. Chance is impatient inside me but excited at the same time. He wants to be let out. As soon as I exit the building, my eyes fall on a figure in the distance.

Mate!

Her back is facing as she gets into a car. The color of the cloth in my hand matches the dress she is wearing. Before I could do anything, the car pulls away from the parking lot before disappearing into the darkness. A growl escapes my lips when I realize what just happened.

She ran away!
