Chapter Seven

Lilly

The gentle wind that flows on my face helps me relax a little. But my nerves are still on the edge.

After I request Beta Tristan to take over and ask everyone to come home, I find a certain Alpha sitting highly once again the throne and looking expectantly on me. I always thought the alphas give high importance to the Alpha King, and that includes the things that he left. The previous alphas are very careful not to touch, much more sit on the throne, without compelling reason. This is the first time I ever see an alpha who just sits on the throne easily and for no apparent reason at all. He seems like treating the Alpha King's chair as a ordinary chair.

"Well, where are you taking me?" He seems to be getting impatient because I am taking my time and not saying anything to him. Still, I somehow manage to murmur 'outside,' so right now, I am standing in front of the Meeting Hall, waiting for him to come with his car.

Unexpectedly enough, I am the only one standing in front of the hall. All of the pack members are still inside of the hall and not one of them has come out of the place even after the meeting has ended. Are they.. waiting for the Alpha to leave before they go?

In a few moments, a sleek black car park in front of me. The door of the driver's seat opens and I saw Alpha Lucas came out. He is wearing black sunglasses and a plain white T-shirt. To say that he looks beautiful is perfectly correct. Still, the manliness of his appearance will make one embarras before they utter those words to him.

Alpha Lucas walks to the passenger seat before he opens the door for me.

"Here you go, little imp." He says while motioning me to go inside the car.

Little?

Imp?

Did he mistake me for someone else?

I hold my tongue from questioning him and just go inside the car. The interior of the car is as sleek as its exterior. I am not familiar to cars, so I don't know what kind of car is this. But it looks really exquisite and nice.

"Where do you want to go?" He asks me once he is inside the car.

I don't really know the places where we can go. But, it will be inappropriate for me to not suggest anything since I am the one who initiated to go outside.

"Alpha, how about the diner in front of the place where I work. The burgers they sell smells really delicious."

"burgers?" Alpha Lucas raises his brows as if he is pleasantly surprised. Does he not like burgers? I though everyone would like them. Although, for myself, I think chicken sandwiches are better.

"Uhm, yeah. They smell good. But, of course... we can eat another food?"

"I like burgers, I just thought you'd love fried chicken instead." He responds as he gives me a smirk.

He starts the car and drives to the direction of the diner. This surprises me a bit because he never asked me any information about myself. But, I have a feeling that he already previously gathered details about me.

"You know where the diner is?"

"Reaffirming if I asked around about you?" Is his only reply and I feel like my cheeks turns beet red.

"I both did and did not." He supplies.

What does he mean by that?

"Lilly, actually we cannot eat at the diner right now. Most of the pack members are still in the hall, and that includes the diner's boss and workers." He kindly informs me when we are already near the place.

How can I forget that? Considering the wrath that Alpha Lucas unleashed earlier, I doubt most of the pack will want to return to work. Also, they are still in the meeting hall right now, aren't they?

"The pack members have been in that hall since I called for a pack meeting at lunch time. They had been waiting for us to arrive for hours. So all of the businesses and houses are currently empty. Right now, everyone including those who have border patrols, are still inside the hall."

So that means they were waiting for us while I was sleeping? Even the border patrols? Isn't that very reckless?

"Don't worry a thing. The territory is perfectly safe. I spread a protection barrier over the whole area." Alpha Lucas answers my unasked question again.

"How about you invite me to have dinner at your home? As the Luna, it will be best to live in the pack house with me. If you want, we can cook and eat dinner at your home then move your things to my house? I can get us a good restaurant outside our pack, but I have to be inside the territory for the barrier to work."

No.

He can't come at the house and eat dinner there. My house is not exactly a house. I don't really want him to see that place.

"Ah, is it alright if we just go to the pack house and I'll cook dinner?" I try to convince him while I tell myself that it will be okay since I can make good chicken sandwiches.

"Would it be bad if I see your place?" Alpha Lucas inquires. His brows are a little furrowed.

"Not exactly. It is very small, I just don't want you to go there." I honestly informs him.

Alpha Lucas remained silent for a few seconds before he tells me, "Alright. I'm excited to try your chicken sandwich."

Can he read my mind? Why does he know about the chicken sandwich?

I glance at him and see that he is driving seriously. However, there is a hint of a smile on his face.

"No, I can't read your mind. I just feel like you were thinking like that." He says.

Now I definitely suspect that he can my mind.

.....................

The pack house is still empty when we arrive. Evidently, the pack members are still in the meeting hall. Is it because I was the one who told them that they can go home? Well, truthfully, I am not even surprised that they didn't listen to me.

Thus, I let the thought go and find my way to the kitchen to make chicken sandwiches.

I am in front of the sink when a pair of strong arms envelope my body and my back touches a muscular torso. The arms around me are holding me tight and I feel a weight on my left shoulder.

"I did well holding myself back." Alpha Lucas murmurs on my ears.

"I could have killed them." He painfully says. "If I didn't know that you would hate it, I would have certainly killed them."

Comfort and security fills my whole being as I listen to Alpha Lucas' soft voice. I unconsciously tilt my weight on his body. His body feels so strong and dependable. However, something inside of my tells me that Alpha Lucas is internally struggling, which is very different from his normal nonchalant attitude.

"I was almost late. Another minute and I could have lost you." I hear his voice break as if he is about to cry.

I grip his hands and he holds me tighter. This feeling of warmth, it is.. very beautiful. At this moment, I feel like I already found something that I have long lost. This is the first time that I experience being inside someone's embrace. Still, I feel far from being uncomfortable. It is like... I have been inside his arms for a thousand times before. I unconsciously close my eyes to savor this moment.

"Alpha---" I want to call him, but his voice interrupted me.

"Lucas. Call me Lucas." He softly whispers on my ear.

"Before I am an Alpha, I am first your mate." He adds. The warm feelings on my chest intensifies as my eyes starts to blur.

"Lucas.. Thank you." For accepting me, for protecting me.

For saving me.

And for holding me.

Lucas' hold on me becomes tighter as if he understands my unspoken words.

"No." He replies as he drops a kiss on my shoulder.

"You should not thank me. Instead, I should apologize to you."

................................

The peaceful air shifts and powerful presences emerge behind me. I look at them and see five figures kneeling on the floor with their hands on their hearts.

"Attend to me." I tell the figures.

"Yes." Each one of them stands up and pave a way for me to go through.

I walk outside the unpainted room and see a huge hall full of people who are richly dressed. The men wear beautiful robes and the women wear huge dresses. Everyone of them stops what they were doing when I enter the hall. I ignore them and start walking. The crowd parts on their own to give me a way.

I walk until I arrive in the middle of the hall, and on the elevated platform. Then, I sit on a huge chair facing the crowd.

"Thank you for coming, let us start the celebration." I softly declare with a smile on my face.

"Lilly?" I hear Lucas' voice which startles me awake.

"Are you alright? You were in daze." He holds me by my arm and turns me around so that I am facing him.

The vision.. day dream I just had left me confused.

What was that all about?

"Lilly?" Lucas holds my face and rubs his thumb on my cheeks which gives me tingling sensation. I look at my mates' eyes and see a set of dark orbs looking at me with concern. His sculptured face is near mine, and I can feel the warmth of his breath. Instantly, my heart starts to beat faster.

"I am fine." I manage to tell him. "I just.. sort of daydream earlier."

"Daydream? Can you tell me?" He softly asks with the same tone of voice he used earlier in the meeting hall. But, instead of chill, right now his voice is filled with warmth. I avoid his eyes and pretend to play with the hem of my clothes.

"Ah yes. I just sorta daydreamed about a hall like that of the meeting hall. Then I went to the platform too. There was a huge crowd but all of them were wearing strange fancy clothes." I tell him truthfully.

Lucas' hand on my face stills before he lifts my chin so that I can meet his eyes.

"Have you ever felt a presence inside your mind?" He inquires.

Presence? Like the voice that I was hearing since this morning? If Lucas weren't a wolf I will definitely not answer him because he might think that I'm crazy.

"Well, yes. Earlier, before the.. situation in the cafeteria. I think something in my head told me to go in, and that no one can hurt me inside. And also, during the pack meeting, I heard the voice again. It kind of told me what to do."

"It's not your wolf?" Lucas asks. His face doesn't give any clue on what is he thinking.

"No, it felt.. different. It had no energy, it was just like a voice talking to me. Telling me things." I honestly answered him. "The pack said they felt a strong aura that's why they thought it was me and as a result, attacked me. I am not sure if this voice and that they felt aura are connected with each other." I add.

"I see." Lucas eyes seems softened before he place a kiss on my forehead. My heart beat erratically and I am sure that my face looks so red right now. Then, he grabs my head and place it on his chest.

"Don't worry about it."

"You will figure it out. I will always be here to help you." He says above my head.
