Chapter seven
Every inch of Talia racked for a proper spell to disarm the beast or maybe a spell that would enable her to move out of the charging beast’s way. She wanted to but just staring at the creature’s yellow eyes dampened any attempt. Then out the corner of her eye, She caught the flash of golden light. Against her will, her hands let out a ball of light that smacked the werewolf into the wall just when he was inches away from snapping at her throat. Solomon gave a loud howl, curled on the floor as his fur began to fold and tear away until he looked normal. The teacher threw a towel over him to cover his nudity. Talia turned right and left wondering what just happened. She did not mean to hurt him even if might of costed her neck. But how in the world did she do that; All without thinking.
The teacher seemed to understand the several things running through her mind because the next thing he said was; “We all witnessed firsthand what happened. Can anyone explain?”
A girl at the front seat lifted her hands in the air to answer the question and she was called by the teacher to give her thoughts.
“A novice wolf has a difficult time telling the difference from magic with good intent and magic with bad intent. It worsened for him here when the caster tapped into divine magic. Considering its the same magic used to curse them, it was bound to wreck havoc.”
Talia stared at her palms. The girl’s last words echoed harshly in her mind. Was that divine magic? Did she really channel her god abilities. The girl’s reply to the question got tongues wagging and finally someone else finally stood up to debunk the rising question in people’s hearts.
“Fae magic is divine magic.” She chipped in. “Not as potent as god magic.”
“Very good.” The teacher commended, taking charge of his class once more. “What is important to note here is the subject naivety to his senses. His wolf is young and feral and the second subject; Fae nature is wired for survival. If nurtured, It can be a positive aide and if neglected, their strengths can be ruin.”
All eyes turned on Talia once again. Their eyes spoke the same message; An inexplicable fear for her or what she was rather. She swallowed noisily.
“So what we are affects our personality and what we might become?” A student questioned. It was a naive question that wouldn't cause any harm but Talia could not but stare at her palms. That momentary grasp of power… That was definitely not her Fae’s side doing. She was way too connected to lose control. She feared it was the part of her that she resented.
“Yes.” the teacher replied.
“So demigods could have some clash in their personalities and what they might become?”
Every single person knew who that question was directed to. The teacher followed Talia’s downtrodden gaze before giving the question a go but almost immediately, The bell rang. Talia let out a breath she had been holding all day. Gosh, Enough torture for one day.
“That will be your assignment.” The teacher said to the class just as everyone began to pack. It was the last class of the day. His request made everyone groan and some of them turned their attention to the girl who asked the question. Talia fought to keep her laugh behind her throat. How the turntables. It was supposed to be harmless fun for them, Now they got a truckload of work on their shoulders. Talia shoved her sunglasses into her bag, considering half the school knew who she was now. She saw no use in hiding her heritage. She headed out of class with her new best friend - If he could handle being a bully magnet.
“So… were you hexed because of your heritage?” Solomon inquired. It was a question Talia wasn’t sure she wanted to answer but she was still curious as to why Sybil seemed to hate her and considering the werewolf wasn’t scared of her. She decided to humor him.
“Sybil. She seems to really hate me.” Talia replied, hoping she would get a form of info.
“Whoa!” He stared at Talia, dazzled. “You should really avoid her.”
“Why?”
‘She might go extra miles to hurt you. Her brother was murdered in cold blood by his best friend, Simon.”
Fuck!, Talia send under her breath.
Fuuuuck!!
Mount Olympus still had that putrid scent. With a cloak over her head, Persephone kept her head towards the dove grey clouds where the imperial god chambers resided. She sucked in her visible resentment for the growing scent of body moisture and the piercing cries of female orgasm. It was little wonder why Hera was what she was. Being married to a god who couldn’t keep his seeds in his sacks. There was nothing the goddess could do but vent all her pent up rage on those she could. Persephone stopped at the front door. The nymph escorting her politely took her leave, abandoning Persephone to wiles of the king of lust. Persephone for a moment looked back at the mahogany staircase that stretched three stories down and seemed to be supported by nothing. It would a waste of effort to have travelled all the way from the second realm only to be let down. She pulled down her cloak, now that no one could see her and placed her palm on the stone door which vibrated in response.
“Who is there?” A husky voice asked.
“Persephone.” she answered, crippled by the fact that she had to relinquish everything she was worth.
Despite her stating who she was, His imperial majesty proceeded to finish his jolly time before the door opened.
“If it isn't my brother’s wife.” he said. It was no mystery why trouble flocked around him. His voice sounded like scented red roses, deception themselves. He was dressed in a toga, loosely wrapped around his hips. His eyes were dark purple at the moment and a garner of gold olives adorned his snow white hair. Despite the odd hair color, He was appealing to the sexual eye and even if he wasn’t, His porcelain muscular body would make up for it. In essence, Zeus was eye candy.
“I am guessing you are here for important business.” He continued. A response to which Persephone nodded to. He looked back into his chambers and said something that sounded like “I will be back.” to the woman within before the stone door slammed shut.
“So what do you want?” He demanded, not moving an inch.
“Well, you are clearly busy.” Persephone mocked. Zeus’s eyes turned smoky grey to her insolent response, forcing her to remember her place and how much she needed him at the time being.
“I apologize your Majesty.” She rushed to apologize but that did not suit him so she proceeded to getting to the point. “I came to discuss on a very sensitive topic.’ she began. “ It might have something to do with the allocation of the annual mortal worship.”
‘What about it?”
“Could the second realm use all of it this year?”
The imperial King broke into a small laugh that made the sun batter down at Persephone. It was no wonder the weather was never stable here.
“Its for the preservation of all three realms. Why would such a selfish thing cross through you mind dear sister in law? Oh, I forgot your realm cant preserve itself anymore now that you have killed my brother off.”
Persephone exploded in crimson. She manage to shut down her emotions before she could flare. It wasn’t worth it. She still needed his help so she took a different approach to getting things done.
“Exactly.” She swallowed. “Now the second realm needs your help?”
He leaned in. “What do I stand to gain?”
“This year’s lowers will be taken off the first realm hands. They wouldn't have to released to the human world and reducing the workload of the offices that would be watching over all of them.”
