2.

Angelo

I've been in New York for a week and already there have been constant calls from my mother checking on my welfare.

To some it may be annoying but it was amusing for me. That's if your mother was a queen and in the middle of an Alpha Summit calling to check up on her twenty-two-year-old son while forgetting the mic was on during a presentation done by her.

Caiden and Micah did call but only once. Some brothers they were when they only asked if I've been on a date yet.

"Your majesty, breakfast is being served in the dining area," my housekeeper Maureen informed me.

Initially, she was my nanny but my mother rehired her to take care of my simple needs like meals three times a day, the cleaning, and my laundry. Only my mother would be so organized.

"Thank you, Mauri," I said out loud.

I heard a sharp intake of breath, looking up from a client's floor plans I noticed Maureen standing by the door of my office with her hands covering her mouth.

"When the Queen-mother mentioned you talk randomly, I didn't expect it at least in such a casual setting," she said sobbing.

What is with these people when I speak? I nodded and went back to work.

"Back to silence," I heard her mutter before leaving my office door open.

Shaking my head, I once more put my focus back to my plans.

I've been working from home to my best friend's dismay. He seems to be more excited for me to come in than myself. I finally agreed to come out the following Monday which was today.

It was already 7:30 and I wasn't dressed nor had my breakfast, looking at my office it was a complete mess.

Groaning in frustration I cleaned up the mess then went to my room to get dressed. I didn't bother to shave and held back my hair in a ponytail, appearances meant little to be.

Stepping into the dining room I saw my driver standing at ease by the entryway while two sentinels stepped in and sat further down the table.

I nodded my greeting and began eating. "Angeloooooo are you homeeeeee?"

Rolling my eyes, I waited for the person to come in while I continued eating.

"Well, good morning to you. Boys. Can't say I missed you all," Josiah said eyeing my men closely. He was never comfortable with the added security around me since college.

I nodded again in greeting and pushed my plate away. My driver handed me my jacket while one of my sentinels took my brief-case and blueprint cases. Maureen came in and cleared the table not before she fixed my suit and straightened my tie.

In my peripheral vision, I saw Josiah with a shocked look on his face.

"Have a good day, your majesty" Maureen called out as I walked out the door.

"It still amazes me that you say nothing but they do everything that requires of them," my friend said frowning at my men.

An amused smile graced my face as my car pulled up just as we stepped out the lobby of the hotel I was now living. Josiah rolled his eyes and got in the car.

"You have a company meeting in 30 minutes. This is where I would be introducing you to the department heads. After that, we have some contracts to look over new clients. Mr. James and Mr. Wiseman want to know when will it be a good time to schedule a meeting with you. And we have four project sites to visit."

I looked at him blankly, it never ceases to amaze me that he can talk so fast while doing whatever he usually does on his phone.

"Ummm... okay," I said.

"Nice to hear you talking bud," he said smirking my way.

As we neared my office building, Lykos became tense. Low growls erupted in the confinements of the car.

"Should I be worried?" Josiah asked looking at us.

"Someone alerted the press that the prince is coming" my driver stated as he pulled up beside the reporters who began to shout their questions.

"I told these idiots not to mention anything" my friend snapped.

I valued my privacy and wasn't in the mood to have cameras being shoved in my face during my second week here.

"It's fine. Sooner or later they all will know that Michael Saville's son is back"

Taking a deep breath, I stepped out into the chaos.

"What made you come back into the real world Mr. Saville?"

"Are you here for good?"

"What or who inspired your success?"

"Does daddy dearest have a lot to do with your multi-million dollar company?"

Calming down myself and Lykos down as we made it through the crowd, I released a deep breath as we all stepped in the lobby area of the building. The tabloids never bothered me but when they insinuate that the success of my siblings and I are due to our parents it pisses me off.

We worked too hard to earn our degree and excel in whatever fields to get this far. Yes, we had the resources for the best tutors but we earned it at the end.

Two female receptionists stood at the desk watching me in awe as we made our way to the elevators.

"He's so hot, I wonder if he has a girlfriend" I heard one say.

"I won't mind being in her position if he does have one," the other said.

They were whispering but I heard everything advantage of having keen wolf hearing. I kept my face expressionless and made sure my emotions were intact as the stares were multiplying by the second.

"How you doing there bro," Josiah asked behind me when an elevator finally arrived.

I couldn't show them how freaked out I was. Crowds and people were never my forte this is why Caiden was always beside me when I had events and meetings to attend.

Everyone saw me as an intimidating dangerous man but deep down I'm just reserved. Extremely reserved.

"I'm fine," I said softly.

"Good because you're about to get a rude awakening," he said seriously as the elevator stopped on the 56th floor.

Saville Enterprises Inc had 60 floors the 60th floor belonged to the president and the vice president the other 59 were our team from marketing straight to maintenance.

The 56th floor consisted of two large conference rooms equipped with a small kitchen. I made sure it can hold more than 20 people if needed. And all the state of the art technology for presentations.

As the doors open, every single person in attendance turned to the elevators. I inwardly flinch but kept up my cool facade. Subtly sniffing the air, I caught the scent of mostly humans and a few wolves.

I found them easily as four men slightly bowed their heads in respect as I passed by; two she-wolves stepped eagerly before me blocking my path with wide smiles on their faces.

Who were these women? Their attire was just too much for the offices and it seems sex was their only mission. Particular ones too.

"Ladies, what is it?" Josiah snapped.

"We just wanted to say welcome to Mr. Saville. I'm Corine and this is Sarah" the dark-haired female said stretching forth her hand to me.

I can smell their arousal and I knew my men can too. Sarah inched closer to me folding her arms below her breasts trying to show me her cleavage subtly but terribly failed.

I groaned mentally thinking of ways to tell them to fuck off in the politest way but I never learned how.

'Omegas. Desperate ones' Jace one of my sentinels informed me.

'Get rid of them. I'm not in the mood' I told him.

"Ladies" was all he said in a tone of warning only wolves can decipher.

They stepped back with their heads held high as I walked passed them. I was led to the conference room where the meeting is to be held. Not taking a seat at the head of the table, I went and stood by the floor to ceiling glass window enjoying the view down below.

"Perfect huh. How does it feel to have the world at your fingertips?" Josiah said softly as he came up next to me.

I turned and smiled at him. "Intimidating," I answered.

We conversed softly as we waited for everyone to take their places. I felt the stares and heard the hushed whispers but I didn't let them irritate me anymore.

"Mr. Court we are ready sir," a woman called out behind us.

"Thank you, Brenda," he returned going to the head of the table.

"Good morning all. Thank you for making it on time. This weekly staff meeting is quite different as we have in attendance the man that signs our paycheck, our boss Mr. Angelo Saville"

I turned around and met every curious gaze. Saying nothing, I idly walked around the room and gestured to my friend to continue.

"No changes will be made because of his presence just our strong work ethic is to be continued. This meeting is all about taking the time to establish any problems in your department or ask any questions you have in mind. Work-Related." he continued watching Sarah and Corine carefully.

"So now would be the time to state any problems you have or ask your professional questions"

Silence. No one spoke. Only short coughs and uncomfortable shifting, I raised my eyebrow at Josiah who just shrugged like he really didn't care.

After a few minutes of silence, I stood up and faced them. I know this wasn't some high school class where everyone is afraid of getting embarrassed by standing up and talk. These were grown people.

"Well thank you for wasting my time, if you wanted to only see your 'boss' you simply could have looked in the nearest magazine or on whatever gossip channel you like to watch. Now if you would excuse me, I have work to do and I believe you all do too" I said calmly.

It may have come out coldly but I really didn't care. Josiah let out a laugh but covered it up with a cough. I sent him a glare and left the room.

'Nice first impression your majesty' Jace said highly amused.

I shrugged and awaited the elevator. It's going to be a long day.

Amelia

It's been a week since I've gotten the job offer from Mr. Court and I haven't called him.

To me, this was a joke. Why would he offer a simple waitress a job at one of the most successful company?

If he thought that I was one of those girls who would give something in return for a high paying job, he would surely be disappointed. But why something at the back of my mind telling me he's not like that.

A knock on my apartment door brought me out of my musings.

"Mia" I heard my best friend Leah shout from behind the door, quickly I went and undo the locks. As I opened it, I was engulfed in a fierce hug,

"Hi blondie. Missed you soooo much. I forgot today was your day off I was so pumped to get to work earlier" my friend said holding me tighter.

"Now would be a nice time to let go. I think my bones are now bruised" I said laughing at her silliness.

I met Leah when I first came to New York when I was eighteen, it seemed like faith when I met her, she gave me a place to stay, clothing and a meal until I was able to fend for myself.

"Oopsie," she said releasing me then went skipping to my bedroom.

That's when I notice three shopping bags in her hand.

"Did you go shopping again?" I called after her as I got us some drinks.

Leah was a bit on the short side with curves for days her brown eyes complimented her light brown hair, for a girl who was orphaned I admired her positive view on life. God knows I needed to do that,

"I did but, not for myself," she returned as I made it into the room.

On my bed were new outfits that I know I can't afford even after I paid my rent and bills. "Leah I love you and everything but I can't accept this. It's too much."

The clothes were definitely my style but I hate when people spend on me, I wasn't a charity case.

"You will," she said with finality while holding up a pink blouse against my chest.

With that tone, there was no room for argument.

"Try this one. I was skeptical about whether or not this would fit you" she said throwing denim jeans my way.

"Ummm o-kay?"

As I undressed, my dear friend was snooping around my room.

Ausual, I don't know what she expected to find, I didn't go out nor did I have a boyfriend.

"Ooooooooo What's this?" she called out.

Rolling my eyes while buttoning the snug jeans, Ilooked up to see what caught her attention in my bland room.

In her hand, she was holding the business card Mr. Court gave me like the rarest thing in the world.

"Someone has a secret admirer? And Saville Enterprises, how lucky are you" She gushed.

"Uhhhh no to the secret admirer and it was just this guy who offered me a job"

"You did take it right?" she squealed

I looked at her blankly until she caught up with me.

"Ohhhhhhhh but you should. Weren't you the one who was always wishing for a big opportunity? Here it is. It may be a small job but I guess it would be somewhere secure you are looking for. Don't you want to get ahead in life? "

She was right. I always talked about this but I don't want to be another sill airhead chick giving it up for cash from some hot rich guy.

"If it doesn't work out you can always look for somewhere else and I would help. I'll be with you every step of the way."

Leah was the only person I had close as a family and I trusted her with my life. She always wanted what's best for me. Maybe with this job I can truly pay her back for everything she has done for me.

Looking around the apartment I guess made my decision for me, with whatever value my paycheck would be would carry me to a safer neighborhood.

"Okay. I would do it"

"Then call now before you chicken out" she practically squealed while handing me my phone.

With her eyes on me, I dialed Mr. Court's office number,

"Saville Enterprises Inc. Mr. Josiah Court's office. How may I help?" a female said on the other line.

"Uh hi, Mr. Court gave me his card to call him? Can I speak to him please?"

"And who may I ask is calling?" her cold bored tone was doing numbers on my confidence well the little I had.

"Amelia Starkov," I calmly replied.

Step one.
