4.

Amelia

I watched in confusion as my boss and his dangerous looking bodyguards quickly left the office, five minutes after his return.

His face was void of any emotion with his cold green eyes but when they left, his bodyguard created a wall obscuring my view.

I was told of his indifference by Mr. Court but didn't want to believe him.

On my second day here, I didn't expect to meet him after Brenda told me he usually works from home or be on project sites.

To say I was nervous didn't explain it. My interview was very thorough. I was asked about my background, my education, health issues, relationship status even my friends which were only one.

I think even if they asked all those questions, they did a background check on me.

Security was very tight, I felt like I was going into a government building. Everyone was so professional when I came for my interview but my first day here was a whole different level.

Brenda and Mr. Court personally gave me a tour of the company and explained my duties of being Mr. Saville's assistant. My head was swimming after all the rules I had to remember.

When I was introduced to the heads of departments, I expected a cold reception but didn't.

Well, almost.

A woman by the name of Corrine who to me was freaking gorgeous shot daggers right me and gave me the coldest smile that can rival the arctic. She was the head of the HR department and was totally shocked that I would be working close to Mr. Saville.

I asked Brenda why no one was already hired for this job her answer was simple. "Mr. Saville is the epitome of private."

I asked if she knew why he was like this. Ahe answered with a shrug and said Mr. Court probably knows seeing he's our boss' best friend.

To be a private man's best friend trust have to be there and loyalty.

The ringing of my phone brought me out of my thoughts reminding me I had work to do.

"Hello. Mr. Saville's office"

"Hi, by chance is Angelo in?" a cheery female voice said on the other end.

I was slightly surprised by the fact a female calling his phone and she called him by his given name.

For the past day and today were either secretaries from other companies calling or his other business partners.

"I'm sorry he just stepped out" I responded.

"Hmmm okay thank you. I think I know where he is. You're Amelia aren't you?" she asked.

"Yes ma'am" I answered wondering how she knew my name.

"Oh, ma'am is for my mother even she doesn't like to be called that. I'm Rebecca. Angelo's younger sister" she said while laughing.

"Rebecca Saville of Bella Designs?" I asked in shock.

I wasn't that into my boss' family and their success and I sure wasn't ready to be talking to the woman who was responsible for every celebrity home design in which I was luckily informed by Brenda.

"One and only. You sound really surprised" she stated.

"I-I ... well, I didn't expect the family to be calling on this company line. I thought seeing he's private that part would be private too" I explained.

"He is, isn't he?" she said. I sensed a bit of sadness but I brushed it off.

"Yeah but he's really good to work with," I said lying through my teeth.

It's only been a few hours since I encountered him and only two or three one-sided conversations I had with him which were very intimidating.

She laughed in response to my statement. "I have to tell Cay this. Don't worry sweetie I know my brother just.... just give him time. It was nice talking to you, Amelia. I will see you soon," she said before hanging up.

"Okay," I answered to the phone shaking my head at her response.

The rest of the day was spent rescheduling appointments, delaying important phone calls and documenting his ongoing project developments because my boss failed to mention he wasn't returning for the day.

As I was packing up to leave, Mr. Court made an appearance by my desk.

"Is he in?" he asked while typing a hundred miles per minute. I can't even type that fast.

"He left early unexpectedly" I grumbled shutting off my MacBook and putting it in its case.

The perks of working at this company, I was given a MacBook and Ipad for on the go meetings and an iPhone. All the devices were linked to each other already and Mr. Court, Brenda, and Mr. Saville's contact information already programmed.

I was surprised that this was given to me but Brenda said it was only given to her and myself since we are the ones working closely with the President and VP of the company.

"He didn't notify you didn't he," he said in amusement.

"No. Sorry for being forward but is this the way I would be working with him? He doesn't speak at all," I asked.

"That's our Angelo. Maybe he will warm up to you soon. I promise" he said reassuringly as we walked to the elevators.

We stayed in a comfortable silence as we rode down to the lobby.

"Have a good evening Mr. Court. Miss Starkov." the security guard wished us at the door.

A black Cadillac SRX with a driver was waiting by the curb for Mr. Court.

"Do you want a ride home?" he asked.

"Ummm no. It's okay I'm not going home right away though" I lied once again for the day.

Truth be told, I don't want no one to see the dump I live in until I move into my new apartment.

"Very well. In the morning then," he conceded and went into his expensive black car.

I took a cab home and found myself thinking of this dark-haired green-eyed god that is my boss. I must admit that he is every ounce of sexy from the way his long black hair was held back to the way he stood with so much confidence. He screamed authority and left any woman in a mess even myself.

When he left me standing there after my introduction, my heart was racing from the way his eyes raked my body and the intense look he gave me.

I wanted to run my fingers through his hair just to feel how soft it was. Mr. Saville was every woman's greatest wet dream and his reserved way made him much more worthy.

It made him mysterious and dangerous what a deadly combination.

Walking up to my apartment I thought of my new life that has just started and was glad Leah pushed me to take it.

By my door, I saw my bubbly friend sitting beside it listening to music on her phone, even in torn jeans a graphic tee and combat boots she was still a beauty.

"Hey working girl." she greeted me as I unlocked the door.

"Hi sweetie, what are you doing here?" I asked placing my things on the couch.

"Came to see how my bestie was doing," she said watching my things closely.

"It was given to me by the company" I answered her unsaid question.

"Damn. Maybe I should go to work for them too."

I slipped down beside her handing her a drink while kicking off my heels and closing my eyes. I felt her stare before I even opened my eyes. " Sooooooo...."

"So what?" I asked her.

"What is he like? The Angelo Saville. Son of the powerful Michael and Emma Saville" She asked excitedly.

"Am I the only one who doesn't know his parents' name and how great they are?"

"Well... Maybe. I mean his parents are like a power couple their joint businesses of hotels, resorts and homes oh and salons are worldwide. Not to mention their smart investments in profitable stocks they are well known. Their profits go back into a charity which makes them so humble. Did you know their eldest son Caiden owns the world best security company from highly trained guards to the most technological security equipment? He's really sought after. Rumors have it the government has a contract with him"

I watched dumbfounded as she told me all those facts in one breath which confirmed my earlier statement that I am the only one who doesn't know anything about Angelo Saville.

A silly grin took over her face. "So, is he really that hot as the pictures?" she asked.

"Yeah he is, but he gives off this dangerous vibe and he hardly ever speaks," I answered thinking of the sexy man who watched at me appreciatively earlier.

"The Silent Prince."

"What?" I asked.

"The magazines call him The Silent Prince. He's hardly ever seen in tabloids. No one knew of him except his work and he never gave an interview. The last picture they got of him was of coincidence. Angelo is the only Saville child that hasn't been in the public eye," she said shrugging her shoulders.

Rolling my eyes, I didn't believe her one bit so I took to my iPad and typed in his name on Google.

The results that were found were a few paparazzi pictures, information on his company, pictures of buildings he designed, and three pictures of him with his family.

"See?! No pictures of him at any openings, charity events, or with any hot model by his side, not even a tabloid lie. The Silent Prince." she said choosing a picture of him walking into his company building.

We both silently watched how serious his face was and the coldness in his eyes.

'Young millionaire Architect returns' was the article title.

"So no one knows why he's like this?" I asked being caught in his green eyes.

"Nope" she answered.

We stayed in silence playing games on my new devices while waiting for the pizza we ordered for dinner to be delivered.

"I want to move out from here." I blurted out.

"That's understandable you have many options. Oh, wait. Why don't you move in with me? My next roommate bailed she found herself the man of her dreams" She said with a roll of her eyes.

Leah lived about ten blocks away from me and closer to where my work is at and safer.

I didn't hesitate in saying yes because I really needed to get out of here. I always felt like someone was watching me every time I left the apartment and when I return it was unnerving.

Leah didn't know the real reason why I ended up in New York and I plan to leave that part behind. Only one part for the reason for my departure still has me confused but I would have to leave that behind. For now.

A knock on the door alerted us that the pizza was here.

"Pizza is here" Leah mumbled.

I paused in getting up and looked at how focused she was into playing some comic book game.

"Thanks?" I responded shaking my head to go get our dinner.

When I opened the door no one was there, I looked up and down the hall to see if he went by another apartment but no one. Stepping out the door my bare toes hit against something light, looking down I saw it was a red envelope. My heart began to beat fast, I recognized that envelope from anywhere.

To others, it can be a sweet designed red envelope but to me, it was the meaning of a nightmare becoming reality.

Picking it up my fingers trembled as I opened it taking out the folded piece of paper.

'I found you, my sweet Mia' it read with the person's bold handwriting.

Quickly I closed the door putting the locks in place and throwing away the note. Getting my breathing steady, I noticed Leah now standing in the middle of the room.

Her body tensed, her head was focused out the window. I couldn't see her face entirely.

"Leah?" I called out to her.

"I think you should get your things now," she said in a serious tone running to my room.

I stood still in the spot trying to think why she was behaving so weird and wanted me to move in with her now. Not that I was complaining.

"Amelia. Now!" she shouted.

Rushing into my room, she already had most of my clothes in a duffel bag. The newer ones were still in the shopping bag so she threw my essentials in them.

She threw my duffel bag over her shoulders like it weighed nothing and handed me the shopping bag then left the room. I quickly went to get my secret stash of money and pushed it into my bosom then followed Leah to the living room.

Her eagerness to leave and that note brought in my fear ten times more. She packed my work devices in my handbag and went out of the door.

Walking down the hallway at a speed Leah made had me thinking that somehow she knew of the note.

In silence, we made it out and she led us straight to a black car.

"Ummm Leah whose car is this" I asked as she calmly took out keys from her pocket unlocking the car with a keypad and throwing the bags in the back seat.

"A friend's. Get in," she ordered.

I never saw or heard her so serious which made me do what she asked me to do. Something was up with my friend and I intend to find out.

We drove at breakneck speed through the dwindling traffic, begging her to slow down I clutched on to my seat and closed my eyes praying that I don't die in a fiery crash.

"We are here" she sang with her usual cheeriness.

I think my best friend is bipolar. Someone came up beside my door causing me to let out a small scream.

"What the hell Liam," my friend screamed out loud and rushing out the car. Liam? Who in the world is Liam?

"I'm so sorry hun. My brother is just an ass at times" she explained opening my door.

As I got out, I was met by a tall muscular man with hazel brown eyes just like Leah's and blonde low-cut hair.

He was gorgeous. A light blush took over his face as he kept his head low with his hands in his pockets.

"Sorry" he mumbled.

"I-Its okay" I stuttered. I literally facepalmed myself for sounding like a fool, Leah was snickering behind my back, I turned and glared at her which made shut her up instantly.

"Let's go up to my apartment. Liam can you bring her things up for me," she called out to him.

"Sure thing, sis" he returned as we made our way through the small lobby of her apartment building. When we were in the elevator, she stayed quiet with her head bowed.

"Are you going to tell me what was all that about" I blurted out.

She looked at me with a seriousness I have to get used to.

"When the time is right. Now we just have to get you settled in." she answered with a finality, leaving no room for questions as the elevator stopped at the 10th floor.

What is going on? Better yet how did he find me.

"What is it, baby? You zoned out for a few minutes there" The voice of my mate pulled me out of the vision I just had.

I didn't answer her right away but went to my phone to call my brother. Rosaline sat on the sofa watching me with curious eyes as I waited for Angelo to pick up.

"Yeah" was his answer.

"You need to keep her close. I can't explain it to you. I wish I can but you need to keep her close. Think of a way to distance yourself from her until you are ready. I'm sorry bro" I said knowing his anger was brewing.

He didn't reply but I got the dial tone as a response. I looked at my baby as she made her way to my side. I thanked the goddess that Rosaline didn't give up on me nor was she hurt.

"It's about Angelo and that girl isn't it?" she asked kissing my temple.

"This is the first time I'm scared of losing my little brother," I confided in her with a heavy heart.

"Angelo will be alright."

I wrapped my arms around her and kissed her luscious lips calming my worries instantly.

'We hope so' Rion said wistfully.
