3. Eyes

"Don't have anything better to do." The blond guy shouted looking around the cafeteria, pulling Marley out of her thoughts.

Everyone turned their heads away from the scene and looked down. Not a voice was heard for a whole minute.

"Remember what I said," Kiara whispered softly, shaking her head in annoyance. Marley nodded, but barely resisted herself to look at that boy again.

Kiara caught him staring at Marley. She narrowed her eyes at him. The guy shrugged and looked away but had a strange smirk on his face.

Strange yet lustful smirk which sent shivers down Marley’s spine.

The room was filled with chatters and laughs of teenagers. Some threw curious glances at Marley, who was glued to her desk quietly.

From all the stares and glances she received till now made her conclude that this school hardly received any new company. She wished either Kiara or Rachel was here, who had opted for French instead of chemistry. Although she had only known them for a few hours, they made her feel welcomed.

A poke on her shoulder started Marley. She turned behind to find a guy looking at her with a big grin on his face. He had tanned skin which went perfectly with his green eyes and short curly black hair.

"Hello." He said with a warm smile.

"Hey."

"I am Sanjay. Nice to meet you."

"Marley. Same here."

"Don't feel awkward. We are just not used to welcoming new students, you see we rarely receive them. I came here two months ago and believe me these stares stops within two-three days." He said, and glared at the girl who was looking at them.

Marley was about to say something when she was interrupted by the sound of loud footsteps. They both turned their heads towards the door only for their eyes to meet three familiar figures. She quickly recognized all three of them. One was the blond who only an hour ago caused the chaos in the cafeteria.

He looked breathtakingly hot with a pair of ocean blue eyes and bad boy attire. The other was the one who had sat beside Mark during the whole event. He had ginger-colored hair and a very similar face to Mark.

Then her eyes fell upon him. She looked away quickly to resist the urge to gape at him like a dying fish.

Weird feelings confused her once again.

"Here comes the royalty of Marshville High." Sanjay whispered in Marley's ear with a fake enthusiasm.

She noticed that the blond guy was gazing behind her. She peeked behind to see blushing Sanjay. He looked down immediately causing his lip to curve into a smirk.

"That's Oliver Augustine. I don't get what his problem is?" Sanjay whisper-yelled after noticing Marley's eyes on himself.

"My only problem is you." Oliver said, who was now getting comfortable at his desk just beside Sanjay, his eyes still plastered on the blushing teen.

Sanjay just took a deep breath and glared at Oliver. But seeing no change in Oliver, he turned his attention back to Marley, who had watched their interaction curiously.

"I can't deal with him right now," Sanjay sighed, before looking at the other two of* Royalty*. "That's Matthew. Mark Wilson's twin brother. I am pretty sure you must have met Mark. I saw you at the calculus earlier." His eyes directed to the corner of the class, where the red-haired guy sat.

"Beside him is Eden Brown, the brooding one." Sanjay continued. "He's like their leader or something."

On hearing Eden's name, Marley felt something stir inside her heart. She tried her best to ignore the feeling and continued listening to her guide.

"The other guy you saw at lunch today with Oliver was Callum Davis. I don't get it why all the girls in this school drool over them when they are just a bunch of big muscular stupid bullies." Sanjay huffed.

Marley glanced at Sanjay who looked frustrated because of Oliver's intense glare. Nevertheless, he smiled brightly at Marley, who returned him the same.

Soon the teacher entered the class and everyone adjusted themselves in their seats. On hearing Sanjay's low groan, Marley looked at him.

"I just dread chemistry." He said with a low chuckle.

Marley nodded understandingly with her own small laughter, before turning her attention back to the teacher. She listened attentively throughout the whole class unaware of Eden's eyes on her.

Sanjay and Marley walked into the gym together. Marley's eyes twinkled when she noticed Kiara and Rachel sitting on the benches. After chatting for a few minutes, Sanjay left them to hang out with his own friends.

"Do you have your gym clothes?" Rachel asked Marley.

"No. I haven't got them yet." She frowned.

"It's alright. Coach will let you go. It's only your first class."

They looked at Kiara whose mind was wandering somewhere else.

"Look at those assholes. They think they own this place." Kiara joined in, her eyes fixed on the five royalty boys, who were, as usual, bullying a guy.

"Why don't the teachers stop them?" Marley asked, her brows knitting.

"Well, our respected Principal seems to favor them and they get away from almost everything." Kiara replied as if she was speaking to a child.

Marley frowned, she was not satisfied with the answer.

"I know it sucks."

A loud whistle was heard, ceasing all other voices and turning everyone's attention towards the coach. He was a tall man in his mid-forties, wearing a blue t-shirt and white sweatpants.

Soon, the students were divided into two teams for volleyball. Marley, Rachel and Sanjay were put together in the same team but Kiara was stuck on the other side with the guys she loathed.

Although she didn't come off as an athletic person, Marley played quite well. In her hometown, she was known for her basketball skills but she also occasionally enjoyed volleyball. Marley had this talent to learn new skills quickly, something which she inherited from her father.

The whistle was blown and the game came to an end. The score favored Marley's team. Sanjay, Rachel and other on her team were screaming with over-exaggerated joy, maybe to annoy the opposing team. Marley was about to join them when suddenly she felt a strong hit on her face, making her stumble a few steps back. She turned around to find a guy, looking at her with a smirk on his face.

"I'm sorry." He said sarcastically.

It was obvious he could not handle the defeat and this act was a low move from his side in order to satisfy his ego. Suddenly, a ball hit him hard on his face making him fall. Marley looked in the other direction, where the ball came from and found enraged Eden glaring at the guy.

Something was different. Marley gasped when she saw his brown eyes turn golden for a second.
