chapter 22

I opened my math book for the first time today, I wasn't really expecting what I saw. Xavier's mathematics skills were impeccable, I actually could not believe that he got the answers the way I would have wanted it but the bad thing was that his handwriting was way more improved than mine. The homework was written in the prettiest cursive I had ever seen

"Is it just me, or did you give someone your homework to do for you" Zoe was sitting a few feet from me but her cheek was already so close to mine

"What that is impossible" I lied but she saw right past me

"What is wrong with you these days ever since that party you have been skipping homework what kind of alcohol did you put into your body"

"What are you talking about this is how my handwriting is normally"

"Oh really" she grabbed my notebook and started flipping through the pages and to her surprise and mine the whole book was filled with Xavier's handwriting. Wow, the only conceivable explanation was that his writing was two hundred words per second because I was just about to finish this notebook and get a new one.

"I guess I never noticed how good your handwriting was until now" Zoe blushed with embarrassment, which made me feel bad. She thought she was a bad best friend because she could not recognize my handwriting from a mile away

"No need to beat yourself up, it changes at times" she got back into her seat just as Mrs. Anderson got into class. By now you should know that he was not exactly my favorite teacher

"I hope everyone did the homework"

"Yes miss" we all murmured under our breaths

"Good now turn it in" I passed my book to the person in front of me and silently prayed that she would be oblivious to the fact that my handwriting magically changed overnight "Take out your books and read page 273 on monomials I will be asking questions on what you have learned" I bent over and pulled out my textbook to start reading.

A few pages into my reading I felt someone staring at me, I know weird but I had this awkward feeling in my gut that someone was watching me. I looked up and around the class but no one was looking at me when I looked to the front I saw Mrs. Anderson's eyes completely trained on me

"Mrs. Anderson can I help you"

"See me after class miss Cameron you have some explaining to do" I looked sideways and saw Zoe and Chloe's eyes on me.

"What happened?"

"I don't know" I mouthed back

"Goodluck" Chloe and Zoe muttered as I slowly packed my things, Alec rubbed his hand down my back giving me reassurance that everything was fine

"You wanted to see me Mrs. A " I reported to the front of her desk, Mrs, Anderson looked up from my notebook she was reading then gave me a face, I am not sure if she was glaring at me or it was something else but it sure felt like she was disgusted with the work I gave her

"I will be straight and direct about this Miss Cameron, who helped you do your homework"

"I don't understand your question Mrs. Anderson that is clearly my handwriting"

"I am not stupid,"

"I am telling the truth if you go through my work you would see that is the handwriting I have used for..."

"And what about your tests" she showed me some papers from my past tests, I compared the two and there was a massive difference

Xavier now would be a good time to help me, Xavier, Xavier. I gave Mrs. Anderson an awkward smile but she didn't look the least happy

"You are supposed to be my star student and now you have grown as lazy as your peers I am very disappointed in you"

"I am not lazy I swear" Xavier. What?. Help me Mrs. Anderson is on to me she knows it is not my handwriting. I looked at Mrs. Anderson again and her lips were moving. WAIT WAS SHE TALKING TO ME

"I am sorry Mrs. A I did not quite catch what you were saying"

"I asked who did your homework?" Before I could think of a lie to give my chest started to tighten and I started having a hard time getting air into my lungs. This wasn't really happening right now, was it?, I was having an asthma attack I started wheezing uncontrollably and to my utmost surprise, Mrs. Anderson came to support me her hand rubbed my back, which was surprising for me. I THOUGHT SHE FUCKING HATED ME!

"Do you have an inhaler dear?" She asked calmly and between the difficulty and the pain I was going through I managed to shake my head. She led me out the door and I think we went to the nurse's office. My vision was a bit blurry I felt like I was about to die. The nurse shoved a Ventolin in my mouth and pressed hard. I grabbed it from her and pressed it again. This was killing me and she thought it was the right time to be a wussy. I pressed it again then removed it from my mouth.

I laid down on the bed in the nurse's office and gave her a smile that said I was alright, I couldn't talk though because I was afraid that if I did it would happen again. Mrs. Anderson looked at me and smiled. You know what I hate about being an asthmatic patient is all the pity. I hate pity with every morsel of my being. I mean I pity people sometimes but having it done to me is pretty annoying sometimes.

"We are going to call your father to pick you up, I reckon you told him about your accident yesterday"

"I did" then my mind went to what she said before she asked me about yesterday. Did she just say she wanted to call my father?
