Chapter 4 Time travel?

“How is that possible?” Anna thought to herself feeling stupidly confused. Anna’s mouth dropped open in shock.

John pulled back at her strange expression and burst out laughing. He’d always said she was funny even when she didn’t intend to be.

I’m always up for a little distracting, especially on our anniversary.”

“Shut up, “She said as she hit him lightly on the shoulder. “My head hurts.” John stroked down her body making her shiver. Anna ran her hand over the dove grey comforter as recognition came roaring through her brain as she realized where she had to be, her old bedroom she tried to think straight but everything was muddled and if she were honest she did still feel a little sick. She pushed him back gently and put her hand over her stomach and prayed she wouldn’t puke.

“I really don’t feel well,” Anna said rubbing her head.

“I must be in shock, or I’ve had some kind of psychotic break?” She thought wildly as she looked at John. “What have I gotten myself into?”

John sighed and laid down beside her. He wrapped himself around her, one large, warm, leg covering hers and she liked it, oh how she liked it, how she’d missed it.

“I think the empty bottles of wine could be the reason,” John said with a laugh interrupting her inner dialog.

“I didn’t drink it by myself.”

“Excuses, excuses.” He laughed loudly running his fingers down her spine as he pulled her against him. He played with a red curl and her breath caught. She hated the way she was falling into an easy sparing routine with him. She’d known John since they were kids and even now it felt natural.

“You always think you are so funny.”

“I have my moments, but you have always been the funny one princess.” He said softly as he turned her face toward him “even if you do look like Kermit the frog right now.”

“Doesn’t that make you miss piggy then?” she grunted softly trying not to show the pain his nickname caused her. He’d called her that since middle school, even back then he’d been her savior. Anna closed her eyes as his lips kissed each eyelid, her cheeks, and eventually her lips. She sank into it as the swirling in her head continued. She had been heartbroken for so long, and now if she wasn’t crazy then she was back in John’s arms. She barely noticed that the lightning had stopped because her heart was beating so loudly.

“Oink, oink.” He said with a chuckle as he buried his stubbled jaw in her neck.

“No!” she squealed as she tried to twist away. She felt the zap of awareness raced down her spine as the goosebumps rose on her arms. Her stomach rolled and the color drained from her face.

“You’re not going to puke on me are you?” he asked quietly as he stopped nibbling her neck. His eyes twinkled at her like stars.

“I don’t think so, maybe.” She muttered as he huffed trying to look rejected as he sighed and snuggled her against his chest. He held her tighter and she grunted loudly. He laughed and tilted her chin up so that she could meet his eyes. His gaze was scorching and full of promise that she suddenly wanted more than anything to give in to what they both wanted, despite the confusion still swimming in her mind and the illness swirling in her stomach.

“So maybe I’ll wait till tomorrow to distract you.” He huffed and settled in. He pretended disappointment but she felt the smile against her forehead as his breathing evened out as he drifted off with his hand on her naked breast. She wanted more than anything to join him, but part of her was afraid to sleep. She watched the last of the storm roll outside as her eyes looked over to the bedside table.

How was it possible that this was her wedding anniversary and she was back in her old home? Did she really have a psychotic break, did she really travel back in time?

What was she going to do?
