Chapter 3 - Chloe

I laid there in pain; my body ached everywhere. I tried to sit up, but my body screamed at me to stay laying down. “Taylor?” I asked hoping she was close by. “she’s actually in another room” a woman said, my eyes flung open. I was in a dark room, but not the hospital that I was expecting to be in. It was a white Victorian style bedroom. The bed had a canopy of drapes on them. I was under the covers; the sheets were made from silk. Real silk not the knock off you can buy from the store, it had to be imported.

I looked over to the lady, she was skinny with chin length jet black hair. “he will want to know you are awake” she walked out of the room. Was she watching me sleep? Who is she? Where am I? Where is Taylor? I started to feel panicked. I forced myself to sit up, I fought through the pain. I looked down at myself, I was wearing a pale pink silk night gown dress. Who dressed me? I tried hard to stand up, I needed to find a way to protect myself if needed to. As soon as I stood up, the world started rushing around me, I felt like I was going to throw up. At that moment, a man walked into the room, he had shoulder length brown hair and he was seriously gorgeous. My vision started to go tunnel and go black and I started falling forward. The last thing I remember is his arms catching me as I passed out into the darkness again.

“Chloe” I heard. I could not see anything It was all darkness. “Chloe” I heard again. I was trying to make out the voice, who it belonged to. “Chloe.” I heard again. What if they could help me? “please save Taylor.” I said to the voice. I’d be okay with dying if Taylor got to live. “Chloe, I am fine.” I heard the voice say. This time it sounded like Taylor, was it her? “open your eyes, Chloe.” I did as she said I opened my eyes and found Taylor smiling at me. Her lip was busted, and she had a bandage on her forehead. But she was alive and that is all I wanted. I signed with relief. “You are alive” I said to her.

“Well of course!” she smiled brightly. I looked around the room, “where are we?” I asked her. “well New Orleans of course.” She said, she seemed so happy like last night did not even happen. Was it even last night? How long have I been out? Looking at her again, I noticed her lip was scabbed over and had already started to heal. “ho-how long was I out?” I stuttered. “a week” she quickly replied. “You were in and out a few times, you usually never opened your eyes and you just kept saying ‘save her’.” I put my hand on my chest, I am alive. I was hit by a car and I survived. Taylor was hit by a car and survived.

Taylor helped me sit up, she propped pillows around me. I was looking around the room, it was the most beautiful room I had ever seen. How was I in it? who brought us here? I had more questions than I had answers and I did not like it. “Who saved us” I asked looking at her. She got the biggest smile I have ever seen her get. “Well you see- “she was cut off by a knock at the door. The lady with short black hair returned. She looked me in the eyes, “he has requested that you get dressed and meet him in the throne room.” And just as she walked in, she walked out closing the door behind her. “throne room?” I asked Taylor. She still had a huge smile on her face, “we are in a castle, hurry get dressed you don’t want to anger him.” She jumped up and ran to a closet in the room. It was double doored, when she opened it, it shown 1000s of beautiful dressed and jewelry. That closet was bigger than two of my bedrooms in Detroit alone. It was so huge. I painfully managed to walk to the closet. “these are for me?” I asked.

“well of course they are for you, they are in your room” she was looking at the dresses trying to pick one out. “he will love this one.” She pulled out a black dress. It was a medieval style dress, the dress itself was beautiful. It was black and had ruffles and silver designs down it. “I need you to put this on under that dress” she said handing me petticoat. “what, I don’t want to wear this stuff.” I said. What was wrong with my other clothes? Why did I have to get so dressed up to meet a stranger. The smile went from her face and she looked me in the eyes. “Do not make him mad Chloe.” What was happening, why was she acting like that. “ok” I said. I would play along for now; they did save us.

I slipped the petticoat on and the black dress. She quickly did my hair in a updo and she put make up on my face. “one more thing” she walked to the back and grabbed a necklace full of diamonds and put it around my neck. I looked at myself in the mirror and I looked like a million bucks. I did not even look this good at my high school prom. Very sure I would never look this good at my own wedding. I slipped on some flats. “now I will walk you to the throne room, but I will not enter.” She was holding my hand. “why not?” I asked her. “because I wasn’t requested, and for me to go in there without permission would get me in trouble.” I did not have time to reply before she was pulling my hand for me to go.

We stepped out of the bedroom, it was a long bright hall full of crystal chandeliers and pictures hung the wall. I stopped when I saw a blond headed boy. He looked familiar; he was the man I saw the night I passed out into the car. Was this his house? “That is King Jacen, he is the nicest out of them all.” Taylor said letting me look at him for a second before tugging my arm to continue forward. The walk did not take long, but that was probably because I was busy taking in the walls and pictures. It really was a beautiful house that I was realizing was super huge.

“I go no farther.” Taylor said smiling at me. “okay” I said hugging her. She quickly walked away. The doorway was very large, it was double doored. It was a deep cheery wood and had gold designs all around the door. Do I knock? I asked myself. No, I am not going to, they looked very heavy I pushed very hard onto the doors. To my surprise it opened with ease, but it was too late I had already given the door a huge shove I was starting to fall face first. In a blur a man with dark hair was there to catch me from hitting the ground. “thank you” I said looking up at him. He had deep brown eyes that held mystery and darkness. He is so handsome. He smiled down at me, his teeth white as snow, as he smiled, I saw his fangs come out. I stared at him in fear.
