Chapter 5

Three days went by since Renya last met Eryna at the cafe,

The cafe Eryna usually sat was oddly loud today, she constantly felt penetrating gazes on her back accompanied by the loud murmurs. She didn’t understand the reason for the hostility shown by the customers towards her.

‘Ring,’

The phone beside her notebook rang, and the caller ID showed Renya’s name.

“I was about to call her,” Eryna mumbled and picked up the call,

“I was about to give you a call,” Eryna spoke happily.

“Sniff,” a faint crying sound came from the other side.

“Renya? Is everything okay?”

Eryna got worried and asked in a careful tone.

“Hick—I am so-sorry,” her dropping voice said with great effort.

“What! What are you talking about?”

“I can’t do it, I can’t live like this anymore,”

Renya’s depressed plea causes Eryna discomfort in her chest.

Eryna felt a familiar feeling coming from Renya, a feeling of emptiness and giving up. She felt her heart drum like crazy at the sudden realisation.

“Where are you?”

“You can’t stop me now,I have had enough of this puppet show,” Renya faintly spoke.

“Did they ask you to get married? Did father really do that?” Eryna’s voice trembled.

The memory from a few days ago flashed before Eryna’s eyes.

“Why are you so scared? I mean if luck is by your side you will surely be Miss Luis in no time.”

“No!”

“Tell me this is not gonna happen,”

Renya’s scared eyes and trembling voice rung in Eryna’s ears, the memory of Renya’s pale complexion flooded in her head.

“Where are you!! Tell me!!”

Eryna had enough of everything, she felt like her heart was tearing apart, tears rolled into her eyes and she shouted into the cellphone.

…………………………………

Over the lush green hill there was a mansion that was beautifully decorated with peach and pink roses, the lanterns which were placed on the perfectly trimmed grass emitted warm light.

The neatly spread flower petals lead to the wedding altar, that was a domed shape frame decorated with peachy pink roses.

The tables beside the aisle were flooded with food of every origin, accompanied by the finest of beverages.

The dreamy scene slowly began to fill up with people in expensive dressing.

Inside one of the rooms of the mansion, An old man sat with a twisted expression as he spoke to the lady in a vine red dress.

“Where is your son?” His voice had anger mixed into it.

“Father-in-law —that, he will be here any moment now!” She spoke in a timed manner.

“Stop covering up for his mistakes, tell him if he isn’t here in half an hour, I will make sure that he doesn’t get a cent from my fortune.”

He rudely ended his words.

“Yes! I will tell him to be here soon,”

The woman left the room bowing her head.

“Micah, where are you?” Her slightly trembling hands tapped her phone screen, and took the phone close to her ear.

“Pick up the phone Micah!—“

Her face looked tired as she lightly tapped her leg on the marble floor in confusion.

“Yes mother?”

“Sigh,” she breathed a sigh of relief.

“I thought you wouldn’t pick up, Where are you? Grandpa is looking for you and he is not very pleased because of your absence.”

“(Exhale) He will regret his decision because she would never be a wife to me, ever,”

His voice was annoyed and he spoke repulsively.

“Be here within twenty minutes, or you might not like the next thing your grandpa does,”

She ended the call with a worried face.
