CHAPTER SEVEN

"What did you say to him?"

"Nothing much, I only just gave him a warning for his son. I trust he would deal with the brat"

Mr. Black knew that his boss wasn't being completely honest. Leo doesn't let people go so easily.

"That sounds like a light punishment, normally you would have expelled the whole family by now"

"Don't worry about that, that's not all. He and his fiance are going down to hell soon. I'll make sure of it, I wouldn't want to punish a friend for his families behavior "

That was true, Leo hated showing mercy but if you get on his good side, he might spare you.

...

The next day,

Lia couldn't sleep at all the previous night. She was up trying to decide if she should accept the deal that Mr. Black had proposed to her.

It was the only way she had to get the money for her father's surgery, but she wasn't ready to sell herself yet.

She decided not to give in just yet and continue with her search for help.

She went to her work place that morning, not to work but to ask her colleagues for help.

Most of them paid her no mind. The only people who promised to help her were just Mary and Chris. But it wasn't enough.

Her boss understood her situation and also lent her some money. He gave her the rest of the week to have some rest. Lia looked horrible.

She was feeling so hopeless at this point. She was never going to meet up at this rate. The amount of money she was promised altogether could be considered as a chicken change compared to the amount she actually needed to cover for the surgery. All she wanted was just to get it off her chest for good.

She didn't have many people to rely on. I guess that's one of the consequences of being anti-social.

Throughout the remaining half of the day, Lia tried making money online and applying for loans but it was all a waste of time.

Leo was starting to get worried that, perhaps Lia had already found a way to pay for her father's treatment and didn't need his help anymore.

But still, he decided to wait a little longer, after all it had only been less than twenty-four hours since they had introduced the contract to her.

...

Time flies by fast when you don't have enough of it.

Another beautiful morning to stay at home and spend time with your family. But what if you don't have one, then what?

"Lia"

"Lia"

"Everything is going to be alright Lia" Lia sat on the floor while hugging and rocking herself back and forth and whispering to herself that everything was going to be alright.

"Nothing bad will happen, Lia" She told herself.

"Dad won't die"

"You're going to see his smile again" Lia tried so hard to calm herself down.

Lia's phone rang and shook her out of her trance.

It was doctor Miller, he had used his personal number this time to call her. Just seeing the name that appeared on the screen of her phone made her heart drop to her stomach.

"Hello, doctor Miller"

"Miss Anderson your father is not going to live to see the next two days"

"What happened? You told me I had a week"

"Your father's condition suddenly deteriorated we are doing everything we possibly could, but he might not be able to hold on any longer"

This time it wasn't for the sake of Leo's plan. Her father was going to die for real if they didn't do something quick about it.

"Ok, I know what I have to do"

Lia wasn't very sure about her decision but if it was for her father then she would do it, after all, marrying Mr.king was not going to end her life.

How weird was it for an assistant to give out his boss's schedule to a mere stranger, Lia thought.

"Excuse me" Lia drew the attention of the receptionist.

"Good morning Mam, how may I help you?" The receptionist eyed Lia from head to toe. It was obvious that she was irritated by Lia's presence.

"Is Mr. King in?"

"He is"

"May I see him?"

"Do you have an appointment?"

"No, I don't"

"Then get out, this isn't a place for peasants"

"Please let me in, if I don't speak with him someone will die"

"I don't see how any of that is my problem, so leave before I call security"

Lia had enough of her rude attitude.

"Excuse me, you're so rude. What kind of receptionist are you, I'm going to get you fired"

"Oo..h, so now you show your true colors, huh. Your probably just a whore that perhaps maybe Leonardo used and dumped and now you think you have him right? Pathetic"

"What did you say?"

"You heard me right, but you are beautiful though I will give you that. So why waste your beauty on..."

"Mrs king, you are finally here. We have been expecting you"

"Mrs king?" the receptionist gasped.

"Please follow"

"Yes"

"Oh and you, whatever your name is pack your things. As of today you no longer work here and not a word about this to anyone"

"Yes sir" The girl nodded with fright.

Mr. Black motioned for one of Leo's men to come closer.

"Off with her head," He whispered low enough for only the man to hear.

Mr. Black led Lia to Leo's private elevator and waited for her to get in before he did. What a gentleman, Lia thought.

"That thing you said about Mrs. King earlier..."

"It's nothing, don't worry about it. No one will know if you don't want them to, and you are here to marry Mr. King right?" Lia just nodded and turned her head in embarrassment.

"But you don't have to fire her for my sake"

"It wasn't for you Miss Anderson, she deserved it. Being disrespectful is one thing but calling the boss by his name is another"

Mr. Black told Lia to wait outside the door while he went to inform Leo about her arrival.

"What?" Leo aggressively asked. He was staring at the picture of Lia again.

"Miss Smith is here to see you"

"Really?" Leo was happy to hear that. He made sure to look his best even though he didn't know if she was going to come or not.

"Yes sir"

"Bring her in"...

"Good morning Mr. King" Leo wasn't happy with the formality.

"Sit"

"Have you decided yet?"

"Yes I have, I will agree to marry you"

Leo was relieved, he didn't know what he was going to do if she had said no. Come to think of it kidnapping wasn't such a bad idea.

"So when do you want us to get married? Tomorrow or next?"

"Today"

"Today?" Mr.Black choked out-earning him a glare from Leo.

"Ok"

"But as soon as we get married you have to pay for my father's surgery"

"Don't worry about that, I'm a man of my word"

Leo signaled for Mr. Black to bring the contract into display.

"You just need to sign here Miss smi... Anderson," Mr. Black said and handed Lia a pen.

"What is this?"

"It's our marriage contract"

"When does it end?"

"Our marriage hasn't even begun, but yet you want to end it" The atmosphere of the room suddenly became tense.

"That's not what I m....."

"When we take our wedding vows it's till death do us apart, the contract just states a few ordinances that's all"

"Oh"

Lia took the pen and signed it.

She didn't bother reading it, after all, no matter how much she is against any condition stated, she was still going to sign it because she doesn't have much of a choice.

"Let's go get married, shall we?"

Leo, Lia, and Mr. Black being their escort, went to get their Marriage certificate.

During the ride, it was nothing relaxing. Lia was tensed throughout, Leo was on a business call speaking an unknown language while Mr. Black just sat at the front seat chattering with the driver.

They all acted as if marriage wasn't a big deal at all.

When the car stopped indicating their arrival, Leo got out of the car and opened the door for Lia while the driver did the same for Mr. Black.

Lia let out a breath that she didn't know she was holding. Leo took Lia's arm in his. She was super anxious, not because she was about to give herself away but because she was about to become the wife of Leonardo king. How scary.

"Are you ready?" Lia just gave a slight nod.

"Also put a smile on your face, you wouldn't want them to think I'm forcing now, would you?" Leo whispered into her ear with which Lia blushed because of the closeness.

It took a while but they finally got their marriage certificate, Mr. Black was relieved he didn't have to listen to Leo's endless praises of Lia's beauty.

"Gideon, inform the church that we are coming"

"Church?"
