Chapter Two

"A vampire?" I questioned both of them.

They nodded, looking at each other in the process. I could see the fear creeping up in dads eyes. He was probably thinking that I would reject her. "Is that not okay Morgan?" My dad asked quietly, resting a hand on Celestial's shoulder.

"Why wouldn't it be okay?" I snorted. "I thought she was going to say she was a werewolf, but her hands are ICE COLD!" I said jokingly. Celestial started to pull her hands away, but I grabbed them in both hands and looked into her eyes. I smiled. The tension in the room slowly dissipitated around us. "The main worry I have is, what will the Council think?" I stated quietly, looking up at my dad.

"I'm not worried about the Council." My dad was no slave to anyone. He definitely believed that if you loved someone, there shouldn't be a reason you were kept apart. "The Council can kiss my ass." He tugged at Celestial's elbow, forcing her to stand up, removing her hands from mine.

"I love this woman. Just because she is a vampire shouldn't mean anything." He kissed Celestial's cheek and she smiled.

"Well, I approve then." I shrugged. I agreed with my dad. There shouldn't be a reason that people couldn't be together if they loved each other. "Just one thing," I added standing up. "You don't drink human blood, do you?"

Celestial looked at my father, eyes widened in anticipation for that question. She laughed, harder than I expected. She held her sides, tears flowing down her cheeks. I already loved her, but her laugh was mesmerizing.

"No dear." She wiped the tears from her face and eyes, settling into the chair next to mine. "Oh, I haven't laughed that hard in I don't know how long. But no, I don't drink human blood. I have learned to avoid needing it. I guess you could say I'm a vegan." She grinned.

"So you're like the vampires from "Twilight", huh? Do you sparkle in the sunlight too?!" I have never been a fan of the books, but the irony was priceless. Again, Celestial laughed.

"No dear, I don't sparkle in the sunlight. Sunlight does burn, if I'm out in it for too long." Celestial waved her hand like I had said something preposterous. I laughed. "Any more questions? I'd like to get dinner started." She said, patting my fathers hand that rested on her shoulder. She smiled up at him. He leaned down and kissed her on the lips.

"Yeah, could you not kiss in front of me anymore? It's gross." I stuck my tongue out at them. My dad chuckled. He walked up to me and ruffled my hair.

"No can do, sport." He laughed.

"Okay, well keep the PDA down to a minimum around me then." I joked. You couldn't tell that I was a daddy's girl AT ALL. My dad's my best friend. If I couldn't joke with him, then what was the point in the relationship?

He belly laughed at me. "Okay, sport, we'll try." He winked at me. I half rolled my eyes at him, feeling a swift jab to my arm.

"Celestial, would you mind if I helped with dinner? I'd like to get to know you more."

"Absolutely! That would mean everything to me!" She smiled and hugged me as we both stood from our chairs. "So tell me, are there any boys you like?"

"WHAAAAAT?!" Both dad and I shouted. We looked at each other and busted out laughing. "No, no boys allowed in this conversation." My dad said sternly. Meanwhile rolling my eyes and wiping the tears away from them. I walked into the kitchen with Celestial, turning to make sure my dad wasn't in ear shot of this conversation.

"No, there aren't, at least not in school. But I have seen this guy walking around town lately, and I feel drawn to him in a way." I waved my hand in the air. "But, it could just be because he's hot." I fanned myself. Celestial started laughing.

"Oh, you high school kids and your 'hot boys'." She smiled.

We laughed and talked to each other the whole time while cooking dinner. It was nice. The more I got to talk and find out more about Celestial, the more I started to love her. It was like having a mom again. A mom that didn't judge me.

Three weeks after meeting Celestial, my dad called me into the living room.

"What's up dad?" I said, plopping on the couch in front of my dad.

"How are you liking Celestial?" He raised an eyebrow at me.

"I like her just fine, why? What's this about? Are you getting crap from the Council?" My temper started rising. My dad laughed at me, shaking his head.

"No, it's nothing like that." He pulled out a box from his pocket. My eyes went wide. My mouth gaped open like a cod fish.

"I-i-is that..." I couldn't muster the words to leave my mouth.

"Yes! I am planning on asking her to marry me tomorrow night." His eyes sparkled. I jumped up squealing, hugging my dad. I jumped up and down at the excitement of Celestial becoming my actual mom. "Ssshhh!" My dad snapped at me. I covered my mouth, eyes wide and a smile from ear to ear.

"I can't believe it!" I whispered through my hand. Pride, joy, and happiness swelled in my chest. "I can't wait to see her face! Where? When? What time? Can I be there?!" All these questions were just piling out of my mouth. I couldn't stop. My dad laughed and waited for me to finish.

"Yes, you can be there. Tomorrow night. I'm going to invite a few friends over for it. Now, I know how much you hate shop-"

"I already know what you're going to say. Yes, I'll go shopping with Celestial." I held my hand up, cutting my dad off.

"Here is my credit card. Don't go crazy, but theres enough for you to go get nails done and all that fun stuff that females like to do." He leaned one elbow on his leg, holding the card in the other extended towards me. I snatched that damn card up so quick, my dad couldn't even blink!

"Will do!" I shouted, rushing towards the backroom where Celestial normally went to do whatever it was she did.

knock knock

"Come in."

"Hey Celestial! Dad said we're going to have a dinner party tomorrow for some important big wigs at work. He gave me his credit card to go shopping and do whatever females like to do, so let's go!" I rushed in through the door, not registering my surroundings. I stopped midway in the room, finally looking around at sculptures and paintings that surrounded me and covered the room. "Wow." I breathed. "Did you do all these?"

Celestial looked up from one of her sculptures that looked kind of like me. Big, bright green glasses sat on the bridge of her nose, a paintbrush in one hand. Her eyes peaked over the rim of the glasses and smiled at me. "Yes, I did. This one was supposed to be a surprise for you, but since you decided to burst in before I could hide it," she started half laughing, half disappointment showing, "I guess I can-"

"Nope, didn't see it!" I covered my eyes reaching out for her hand. "I don't know what you're talking about. But come on, let's go! Let's go do something you enjoy most!" She grabbed ahold of my hand and led me, still covering my eyes, out the door. She laughed.

"Okay, I'll be right out!" She gently pushed me through the door before closing it.

'Going shopping.' I thought. This should be fun. Lord knows I hate shopping. 'But it's for Celestial. And I will not let dad down.'
