Chapter 2 - Confusion
Reign
What the hell is happening?! What the hell did he mean by MINE? I don’t belong to anyone. “Please don’t hurt me.” I pleaded softly, the memories of Luther, my ex-boyfriend’s, beatings came rushing back. I wanted to cry but I wasn’t going to cry in front of him but that didn’t mean I wasn’t scared. I heard a voice call his name and he released his grip on me. As he released his grip, I rushed into Jazlyn’s arms. Jaz and Ryott started leading me out when Damien spoke. “I’m so sorry, I would never hurt you.” He tried to caress my cheek, but I recoiled from his touch. “Please don’t ever touch me again.” I hissed and walked off with Jazlyn and Ryott. Even though I was weirded out by him, there was something about him that told me he wouldn’t hurt me. Yeah, go figure that. I have completely lost my mind. When we were in the elevator, he made me feel things that I’ve never felt before. When he leaned into my ear and whispered, mine, it sent sparks shooting through my body. When he showered my neck and shoulder with kisses, I shivered all the way down to my toes. What’s wrong with me? I know nothing about him, except that he is the twin’s older brother.
I pulled Jazlyn and Ryott to one of the tables, “WHAT THE HELL, JAZ?” I whispered-yelled. “What is your brother’s malfunction?” I demanded still trying to slow my heart rate and control my breathing. “Reign, I’m sorry. I’ve never seen him like that.” Jaz apologized. “Bullshit, Jaz! Reign, please calm down.” Jaz pleaded. “Please trust me when I tell you that he would never hurt you. I don’t know what came over him.” “You know what’s going on!! What the hell aren’t you telling me?! He really freaked me out and why did he whisper ‘MINE’ in my ear! and DON’T TELL ME TO CALM DOWN!” I told her rubbing my wrist where he had a hold of me. “I know there’s something you’re not telling me!” I rubbed my wrist; it hurt and was turning purple. “Just please trust me, I would never put you in harm’s way. You and Ryott are my partners in crime, my bff’s, my person’s.” Jaz told me with a small smile.
“Look, maybe you should just spend time with your family alone. I shouldn’t be hanging around and getting in the way of your family time anyway.” I suggested. Her and Ryott were vigorously shaking their heads no. “No, NO way!” Jaz sternly said. “You’re not backing out of going on vacation with us because of my asshat brother.” She grumbled, she looked like she wanted to cry. I hate it when she does that. “Besides mom is not going to let that happen, she already has plans for us.” She sobbed. “Awe, Jaz, please don’t cry.” I sighed. “Fine, I’ll go but if he tries anything, I’ll kick his ass.” I told her raising my eyebrows. “You know I can do it.” I warned narrowing my eyes at her.
“Oh please, be my guest, shit I’ll help you.” The three of us giggled and looked at Jyden, Koltyn and Damien. My eyes locked with Damien’s; he gave me a small smile. I felt butterflies in the pit of my stomach, what the shittles!! This guy scared the wholly hell out of me and now I’m feeling weak in the knees over him. This can’t be, he’s like six foot eight, built like a brick wall, beautiful shaggy shoulder length brown hair, green eyes that I could get lost in and he is abso-freakin-lutely gorgeous. There is no way that he could be interested in me…but he did say that I am his. What is that about? Snap outta it Reign! You shouldn’t be thinking things like this!
Jyden, Koltyn and Damien walked over to our table, “May we join you? Damien asked. I shrugged my shoulders and agreed. Jyden sat next to his girlfriend, Ryott and Koltyn sat next to Jazlyn, yes, his girlfriend. I always felt like a third or fifth wheel when they were around and were all lovey dovey and shit. It was just so disgusting, but I wanted that disgusting lovey dovey shit. I just haven’t found the right guy to be that gross and disgusting with. Damien tried to sit next to me, but I moved to the other side of the table next to Jaz. He gave me a weak smile. I felt kinda bad but at the same time, I wanted nothing to do with him but there was still something about him that scared me and at the same time pulled me to him. “Do you have something to say big brother?” Jaz snorted when she noticed that he kept glancing at me. “Shut up Jaz!” Jyden barked. “Yes, he does have something to say.” He scowled at his sister. “What’s the matter? Can’t he speak for himself?” Jazlyn demanded with her arms crossed over her chest. “Okay, then, spill it!” She said raising her eyebrows and motioning for him to speak. “Jaz, you’re not making this easy.” Damien gruffed. “Why should I make this easy on you? You scared Reign shitless, and you left a bruise on her wrist!” Jaz scowled as she lifted my arm. Damien had a pained look on his face, it looked like he felt bad. Good! He should feel bad for what he did. “Jaz! Zip it!” Jyden snapped.
“Jaz, it’s okay, let him say whatever he wants.” I told Jaz putting my hand on her arm. Damien looked at me, he rubbed the back of his neck and leaned over the table a little closer to me and I moved further back from him. He stopped. “All I can say is that I’m sorry.” He told me. “I never meant to hurt or scare you. I could never hurt you; I would never hurt you.” He whispered with what sounded like…sadness, true sadness. The look on his face, in his eyes, told me that he wasn’t lying. I felt a little more relaxed under his gaze. It felt like hundreds of butterflies were released in the pit of my stomach. I just wanted to wrap my arms around him and melt into his arms. C’mon! This is not some stupid romance novel. Don’t be an idiot Reign, you’re fifteen, he’s twenty-one, you just have a crush on him. What the shit, get over it? “Yeah, okay, just don’t EVER do that again.” I responded as coldly as I could. “I’m going back to my room.” And I walked away.
