ParkRun

Emmas POV

My eyes struggle to open as the incessant beep of the alarm clock fills the room, “Five more minutes” I mumble to myself, reaching over to stop it shattering the peaceful dark of the room.

Finally my hand connects with the snooze button, and silence resumes. With the silence I burrow back into the duvet and try and dive back into the dream I was so rudely awakened from.

There is a man with eyes the colour of the sea after the storm, a tranquil clear blue; with hair dark as a raven’s wing, he is dressing in a dark suit, with a maroon coloured shirt, but his other features are blurry as we share a dream kiss.

Oh my he is so sexy I can feel warmth centre between my legs. He strokes my face, his thumb tracing across my bottom lip, then his hand brushes down my arm to my elbow and across, cupping a now exposed breast. Dressed to undressed in an instant, his thumb brushes my hardening nipple.

God that feels good, I shiver in response, arcing towards him a fire lit in my belly and I know I am wet, very wet for this mysterious man, who I feel I know. There is no shame only a growing desire, I move my body against his writhing, grinding my sex against his underwear, feeling his dick harden and twitch, my hand fluttering against his now bare chest… Beep, beep, fucking beep….

I feel the dream fade even as I struggle to hold onto it, the beautiful raven hair stranger fading like a ghost into the night. I smack the alarm clock again, lying there my body bereft, and in need of satisfaction.

I slide my hands down my body, my right hand slides quickly between my slightly parted thighs, and finds my damp hot core, with my fingers coated in my own juices I skate two finger towards my clit which is already hard and pulsing.

I rub myself, the first gentle touch makes me quake, I continue the intimate caress, pressing gently but firmly at the same time, imaging the stranger is with me, is moving over me, my hips are rocking, and in no time I am tipping over the precipice, my body shaking and quivering uncontrollably. God that was fast, clearly I am more frustrated than I realised.

The release has me wanting to drift back to sleep, but the bloody alarm clock just doesn’t give up …. Beep, beep, beep..

I look at the time, shit it’s Saturday and I am due to be picking up my daughter in about 25 minutes, so I need to leave the house in 15. Urgh, urgency gets me up and out of bed, and I cross the hallway into the bathroom to complete my ablutions.

I drag on clean underwear, a sports bra, black running trousers and a pink sweat wicking t-shirt. Putting on my socks and trainers, as I juggle making a thermos mug of coffee and a slice of toast to eat in the car. My hair is a mess, but that will just have to wait until I get to my destination.

Then out the front door grabbing a light jacket, my car keys, phone, headphones and purse. Needless to say I am already running late.

As I pull off the drive I accept the incoming call on the car’s handsfree.

“Mum are you coming” I heard exasperation in my daughter’s voice.

“yes sweetheart, I will be there in five minutes”

“Okay see you in a mo, love you”

“Love you too”

I hang up and concentrate on the roads. In next to no time I am pulling up outside Joanna, my eldest’s house. As I pull up she is out of the house and scrabbling into the front seat. Laughing as she shouts “Go, go, go” as if we are bank robbers escaping the scene of the crime and not just running late

I join in the laughter and pull off towards Farm Valley Park, our local country park.

I pull into the carpark, and as we still have 15 minutes to get to the start line I sort out my waist length hair, tying it back into a low ponytail, and then plaiting it so it doesn’t fly around and piss me off, then I pay for an hour’s parking.

Jo and I walk briskly towards the start line and join some of the other stragglers just in time to hear the last few announcements. Well it sounds like there is nothing of note this week, I think, applauding the individuals who have earned their t-shirts.

Then everyone gets ready, we aren’t the fastest or the slowest, although Jo is much faster than me, so we aim for somewhere in the middle, and I ready my Fitbit.

WHEEEEEE … the sound of an airhorn marks the off, I start my tracker, put one headphone in and my phone is set to play my Spotify list when I am ready. Jo and I shuffle forward ready to start our 5km jog as soon as the mass of people clears enough.

Slowly we up our pace until we are at a comfortable jog. Jo wants to be sure I am okay before she leaves me, and this is some great mother daughter time, so it is something I try to make the most of each week.

‘So how’s it going with you and Tony?’ I ask her with a sly grin.

‘I told you mum it’s not serious, he’s got a great bod, but omg he is thick as two short planks’

We both laugh ‘I know, but if he makes you happy that is all I want for you, and your sister, and lets’ face it her taste in men is a little bit sketchy.’

She sighs at me. ‘I know mum, believe me Tony is not the ONE, but for now, well the sex is mmmmmm…’

I cut her off ‘urgh TMI sweetheart’

‘Yes mum never mind my love life, what about yours? It’s been what 6 years he’s been gone and you haven’t dated anyone’

I glance sideways at my eldest, she’s a good girl, but I am not sure she would understand. ‘I will date when I am ready honey, I am really busy with work and you and your sister and the baba, I don’t have the energy to go searching in the trash for a diamond’

We both laugh at my words. Then I tell her ‘Shoo – go on now, I will see you at the finish line’, we both put in our other earpieces and start our music, as slowly Jo draws ahead of me.

I watch her run with a proud smile on my face, her tall slender form running at a good steady pace, then she disappears round a bend in the track and I know I will next see her at the finish line.

For the next 25 plus minutes I focus on keeping going, one foot in front of the other, as I round the final bend I can see the long slope that takes me all the way to the finish line. I am hot and sweaty, I can see young fitter people slowing to a walk up that final hill, but not me… I might be short, slightly overweight and the wrong side of 45, but I put my head down and continued my slow torturous jog up the hill.

As I get close to the end I can hear spectators and marshals and finishers cheering me on, so with a last effort I spur my tired muscles into a final effort and ‘sprint’ for the finish.

As I cross the line I fumble for my tracker to stop it, and slow to a walk in the funnel, calming my breathing and smiling as I note my unofficial time, 33:43, nice - eight seconds faster than last week I think to myself.

I collect the finish tag marking my position, then go and log it, with my barcode, with one of the designated volunteers. As I do this, I spot Jo, over to one side, engrossed in her phone, headphones still in.

I approach Jo, and she looks up as my shadow crosses her screen, then smiles removing those damn headphones. I swear headphones are the bane of parents’ lives, I remember her putting them in all the time when she lived at home making her impossible to communicate with some days, still now she doesn’t live at home it is not so bad.

‘Cmon trouble’ I grin at her. ‘Let’s get you home and I need to get home for a shower and to feed the cats’

‘Hmmm feed the cats’ she says quizzically. ‘you were late out of bed this morning if you didn’t sort out the pampered trio before leaving the house’

I raise my hands. ‘You caught me, I am having a mad passionate affair with my duvet, and could barely tear myself away from it’

We both laugh, and I flush red briefly as I remember blue eyes and the rock-hard body of my dream lover. My breath catches in my throat, as heat starts to rise in my loins. No Emma we are not doing this I think to myself and quickly push down the thoughts before I get anymore turned on.

Jo hasn’t noticed so I link my arm through hers and we make our way to the car, and home to enjoy the rest of the weekend.
