Chapter Seven

Ethar's POV

I smelt her blood from miles away at first, I was chasing the scent with a painful tingle through my gums as my fangs protruded. I had dealt with bloodlust before but was able to control it. I had never fed on anyone, which was an extra precaution my mother had me take to keep the darkness at bay. With her suppressing my vampirism I could always control the urge to feed. Her Blood was something else, I could smell the magic within it, the darkness calling out to me to give in. The smell was intoxicating, it was not that I needed to feed but I needed to feed on her and her alone.

The scent leading me toward her, when I got to the scene, I'm not sure what I was expecting to see, but the situation was dire, and it pissed me off that someone would come at her knowing she was my mate, not only that but her own Alpha and someone who she had respected. I recognized Alpha Toto immediately and I could see the murder in his eyes, but I could not sense his aura instead I sensed magic radiating from him a dark magic holds him captive. I let out a growl as I saw him move toward her ready attack and flew through the air to stop him. Shifting into human form I grab the alpha as he lunges toward me, I quickly counter and I use a spell to knock him out.

I was still reeling from the smell of blood flowing through her veins, trying to control myself when I hear her voice floating into my mind.

“Is he dead?” her sweet voice riddled with fear that I had just killed her alpha.

My head snapped to her direction. She was glowing so bright it lit our surroundings; I hadn't even noticed she finally shifted. Her fur was snow white stained with the warm sweetness dripping from her wound. Her eyes glowing bright green as they peered into mine. I shook my head trying to get rid of the urge to drain her body the need growing stronger, but there was another feeling that was tainting my mind the feeling of lust and I could feel Etgar pushing through as we could finally see Mi’s true form. He wanted her. I didn’t know if I had the control to stop him from mating her right then and there as I was struggling with sweet copper scent that lifted through the air.

“Iliam!!” I yelled through the mind link, and I could feel him jolt awake as he heard my scream.

“Where are you where is Zi?” he asks, and I could feel the fear coursing through him knowing we were in danger as he awaits my response.

“In the woods right before the creek, run until u get to the clearing, I must go Etgar is struggling, and she's bleeding get here fast Iliam!” I huff out as the urge turns to pain and I'm thrown back into my mind as Etgar takes over. All I could do was watch in horror as he stalks toward her. She had no ounce of fear coming through the bond, she felt safe. She had no idea she was in danger from her mate.

“Control yourself Etgar, she has no idea what is going on. This is wrong, you do not want to hurt our Mate” I yell at him fighting to gain back control.

Iliam was there in seconds, his eyes darting from mine to hers, As he realizes the seriousness of the situation.

“Run Mi! Hes not in control he will mate your wolf right here and now!” He yells toward her.

He takes his place standing in between me and my mate, I hear Etgar growl as she takes off running, his anger was directed towards Iliam. A feeling of relief flows through me as I see her run away happy that he was able to tell her about the danger she was in.

I watch through Etgar's eyes as Iliam snaps his fingers drawing his attention from her to him. He unbuttons the sleeves of his shirt rolling them up a smug smile on his face as he gets ready to go to blows with his Alpha.

“We haven't done this in while huh Alpha.” He chuckles running his hands through his hair as he pushes it out of his face.

He was in no way talking to me but to Etgar, most people wouldn’t dare getting in between him and what he wanted but Iliam was in no way scared of the beast. I often thought his confidence was misplaced, but I chose my Beta well, he was always there to put me in my place when I lost control even if it might cost him his life. He would not let me hurt my mate; he would kill me if he had to knowing I wouldn’t be able to deal with losing her especially at my own hand, he wouldn’t let me live through that pain.

Iliam’s POV

The insufferable brute had lost control and almost mated the naïve girl. She just stood there a doe eyed little wolf unaware of the danger she was in. I could feel the scent of blood fading as her wound must have healed already, all she had to do was wash it off, and she would be fine. Now I just had to deal with the idiot Alpha trying to take the girls virtue.

He tried to circle me, but I matched his movements, always keeping him in front of me. I knew Ethar was pushed too far back to use his magic. If he wasn't I might have been alarmed and shifted, but it wasn't Ethar who wanted my blood, it was the beast himself.

“You know I'm not going to let you anywhere near my Luna while you're like this, so just give him back control you big brute.” I say trying to reason with him, I was going to exhaust my options before trying to fight him. He was still my Alpha even in his wolf form I lived to serve them both, but I knew Ethar didn’t want this.

He continues to try and get behind me knowing the only chance he had was to get me from the back. Even in my human form he wouldn’t have been able to take me down face to face. My technique has been passed to me through generations, my fighting style was the pride of our family, and it wasn’t something taught but felt.

He lunged forward bearing his canines at me, my moves were graceful and fast I kicked him just below the chin before lifting my foot to the top of his snout smashing his face to the dirt with my heel. It took me but a second to complete the move too quick for him to register what happened. I jumped back landing on my feet waiting for him to recover.

“Give Ethar back control, you can't beat me without magic asshole.” I tell him before he comes at me again, I roll my eyes at his stubbornness. I side stepped, letting him crash into the tree I was standing directly in front of. When Ethar and his wolf weren't in tandem, Etgar gets consumed by blind rage, there was no training or technique involved just pure animalistic instinct.

Ethar whimpers at the contact with the tree, his own momentum causing injury.

“Etgar! Alpha woke me up out of a deep sleep, I would love to get back to bed I was having the best dream.” I whine taunting him.

The fighting was pointless now, Zion was no doubt home worrying about us and perfectly safe. I was annoyed at his point.

Etgar recovers quickly and gets to his feet glaring at me. He wanted to rip me to pieces. I was going to have to knock him out, it was the only way, but I did not relish the thought of having to carry the big hairy monster back to the house, But I was tired, and I wanted to get back to her.

“Alright let's end this.” I sighed and as soon as the words left my lips he attacked. Once he gets in range, I jumped over on to his back, grabbed his neck and snapped it.

I hurled him over my shoulder and headed back to the house. I could smell her scent as I got closer, it was refreshing, it was intoxicating. I had to push my thoughts to the back of my mind. My beast Raziel whining in contempt. “She is not ours. Our mate is out there. We will find her, and she will be ours.”
