Chapter Four

Nick always enjoyed the moments when he could visit with Samantha outside of work, he had been able to gather the courage to tell her that he loved her yet. When she had been kidnapped 4 months ago the thought of losing her was unbearable and he did everything to make sure she came back alive. Much like with his sister Laura and his 2 nieces, he was always overprotective of Sam. He had helped her and Matt out as much as he could over the last four months, every spare moment he had that he wasn’t at the lab or with his sister and her children he was with Sam. Semi lost in thought Nick almost forgot to pull into the ally parking for her building, a bit tricky to get too but worth it if it meant keeping the car off the Main Street. Nick quickly parked and grabbed the case files, walking into the building he was greeted by the doorman who knew all of them at this point, and made his way to the elevator. He never really liked elevators as they always had a tendency to break, but because Samantha’s apartment was on the tenth floor, he always took it. Finally reaching the floor Nick walked out of the elevator and towards Samantha’s door, completely unaware of what waited for him on the other side.

Always the gentleman, Nick knocked on the door and let Samantha know that it was him and that he was there to drop off the documents. William couldn’t help but smile as he made his way towards the door, taking one last moment to glance back at Samantha before opening the door to let Nick in. Careful not to show himself opening the door, William grabbed the knob and pulled it open while carefully concealing himself behind it. Nick walked into the apartment documents in hand but dropped them the moment he saw Samantha bound and gagged on the floor. Without a second thought Nick rushed over to help her, she tried to warn him but was unable to give little more than a muffled no.

“Samantha, I came to drop off those files for you… Jesus Christ what happened?!” Nick dropped the files and ran over to help her, “Mm!”, William closed the door and pulled out the gun he had been hiding. After quickly locking the door William aimed the gun at Detective Montgomery. Nick Turned around and came face to face with William and his gun, “You’ve made a huge mistake, it’s not smart to hold law enforcement hostage.” William kept his cool and simply laughed at what the detective said, needless to say Nick knew exactly who this man was and that he never made mistakes.

“The only mistake made was when your boss shot and killed my brother saving that girl right there. Now if you would be so kind as to relinquish your gun and cell phone, as Samantha can tell you I don’t ask twice.” Remembering the moment before Nick came, Samantha kept silent but sent a pleading look Nick’s way. She didn’t want either of them to be killed, but they needed to buy time to save themselves first. “Whatever you want William… just take it easy, no one needs to get hurt here.” William only chuckled, “Ahh someone who actually knows who I am, its actually quite refreshing if I’m being honest. But sadly, you’re wrong on that last part, you see that’s the whole idea, as I was telling Samantha I’m here to avenge my brother’s death. Sadly, one of you will not make it out of this alive, now sit down in that chair, I’ve got a schedule to keep.”

Nick did exactly as he was told, he took his gun and his phone and placed them on the floor in front of William. William wasted no time in scooping the items up and placing them out of Nick’s reach. He then motioned to the chair, Nick sat down, once sat William pulled out a rather large roll of duct tape. He began by wrapping the tape around Nick’s arms and the arms of the chair, making sure that his forearms were facing up for easy access to Nick’s arms. Once he finished with the arms, William moved onto his legs and the legs of the chair, it was small moments like these that he could really appreciate Samantha’s taste in furniture. Chairs like these were always perfect for tying someone down too, even if that wasn’t her thought when she had bought them. After finishing up with the legs William moved onto Nick’s torso for good measure, as previously mentioned he was nothing if not thorough. He did however hold off on gagging the detective, he didn’t want to have to do that unless absolutely necessary. With everything in place William took a moment to sit down on the sofa and relax, he needed to be completely relaxed and focused for what was coming next.
