Chapter 4

Jonathon’s POV

“Dad it’s 6am. Why are we even out of bed?” I asked my father. “Alphas are always the first to rise and the last to leave” he boomed back at me. I mimicked him behind his back. It’s the same shit, different day.

We are heading to a closet ‘the slaves’ are locked in; that’s what dad calls Jessica and Olivia. Olivia is my mate; I knew she was special the night dad and Uncle Mark bought her here, I swore that night to the Moon Goddess I would protect them. From that moment on, I had a feeling she was my mate and I did everything besides take her away to make sure no-one hurt her.

For the girls safety; Alex and myself thought it was best to protect them here. When I phoned him, one week after the ‘incident’, as he calls it; that's when we decided it was best to stay put and watch over them.

*“Hi Alex, it’s Jonny” I say over the phone. “What’s up?” “Dad has Jessica and Olivia locked in the dungeons; I am trying to get them moved into an unused closet. It’s not really big, at least they won’t be in the grime and filth.”

“Mum wants to know, have they hurt them?” He asked, “he beat them the first night he got them because they wouldn’t tell him where you or your mum were. There hasn’t been anything since; your sister and her friend are safe.” “Sister? I don’t have a sister” “Isn’t Jessi your sister?” I asked confused. “No, she’s Gamma Zach’s youngest daughter, well; youngest of the triplets” he corrects.

I start to laugh; “what’s so funny?” Alex enquires, hoping I would let him in on the joke. “Dad has assumed one too many times. It all makes sense now. Your dad spoke up for Jessica when she called out to her father. Dad thinks she’s your 10-year-old younger sister.” There’s a pause and a boom of laughter comes through the receiver.

“Mum said they are trying to figure a way to get you and the girls” “No” I shout louder than I intended. “I mean, it’s too dangerous at the moment. Dad has patrols around your borders, it’s too risky, I will watch and protect the girls as best I can. I know if you come; dad will not hesitate to kill you and them” I inform him.

“I’ll tell mum. In the meantime, keep me updated” “I shall,” hitting the end call button.*

Getting to the closet, Dad unlocks the door. “Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dumb; why aren’t you out of bed?” They walk towards us slowly; Jessica answers sternly; “We were coming out this second, your majesty” doing a fake curtsey in front of him.

Stifling a laugh, I pretend to glower at her; “Do you think this is a joke?” Giving her a wink behind dad's back. Dad doesn’t like disrespect; especially from the ‘slaves,’ if I don't intervene she would get hurt. She knows it too but she doesn't cower to dad and it infuriates him.

It’s also difficult to pretend to be angry, when you have an overgrown mutt is inside your head rolling around laughing his ass off. “No Siiirrrr" she says back sarcastically.

I glare at her and raise my hand, grabbing her dress and swung my hand down, narrowly missing her face. I give a huge slap on my hand to make it sound like I hit her; at the same time, she turns her head and grabs the side of her face. “Do not disrespect the Alpha” I yell.

I fake hit them all the time; Gamma Shaun gave me the idea when I told him I didn’t want to hurt them. He is the only person besides myself, to not lay a hand on them. Jessi said, it doesn’t matter; he was there and didn’t stop Alpha Dumbass from killing her dad and everyone else. I've confided in Shaun more times than I can count. He does helps me when no one else will. I know he has his secrets; when asked, he shrugs it off and tells me I am overreacting.

“You are needed by Luna Aubrey; she needs an outfit for the upcoming party” Dad tells them and Jessica starts to respond, “What sort of…” ‘whack’. Dad slaps her; shit, I wasn't quick enough. “Did I say you can speak. It’s none of your business.”

I looked at Jessica, a tear slides down her cheek. ‘Sorry’ I mouthed as she puts her head down.

We turn and start walking away; “I told you and Mum; I don’t want to find a mate just yet, why do you need to push this” I say loud enough for them to hear. ‘Whack’, Dad hits the back of my head; “you will do as you are told, boy. You will mate with whoever we say you mate with.” “Not if I can help it” I say to Tyler. “We need to mate with Livvy” ** “I know.”**

…………………..

Jessica’s POV

‘Tell me again why I told Luna Aubrey I can sew?’ I ask Olivia through our mind link, ‘because you thought she was actually interested in some of your hobbies. To an extent she is helping, it gets you away from doing everyone’s dirty work.’ ‘Helping my ass. She thinks I am her own personal seamstress. She never gives me enough time and when anyone asks where she got her outfit from, it’s always the same; ‘oh this old thing, I’ve had it forever’. I mimicked the last bit. She stifles a giggle as we approach Luna Aubrey’s door.

Mum taught Cath and me how to sew when we were 8. ‘Making your own clothes is always better than anything you can buy’, she would say.

I knock on the door, “Enter” we hear. We enter the room, her smiling face disappears, “I didn’t need both of you. You” pointing to Olivia, “Go down to the Banquet Hall, tell Omega Esther, I sent you.”

Livvy looked back at me, before leaving the room. Omega Esther is a stubby older lady, her black hair is greying around the edges. She is very cruel to Olivia and I. She takes pleasure in throwing plates, knives and whatever else she finds our way. If she misses, she tries again until she hits us. I've had a broken arm from one of her tantrums. She repeatedly swung a saucepan at me. I put my arm up to protect myself; the force of the impact broke it. Olivia ran to get Jonny and he eventially stopped her but I don't think it healed well. I wasn't allowed to stop working to let it heal and it still gets sore from time to time.

“A-Alpha Sebastian s-said you needed a d-dress” I stammered to Luna Aubrey, her hazel eyes narrowing on me. “Ahh yes. I need to make a statement for the Banquet tonight.”

“Y-Yes Luna. I-Is t-there a p-particular colour y-you w-want?” I normally don’t stammer this much, but last time I had to make an outfit for Luna Aubrey, I didn’t finish, and I got whipped. I couldn’t feel my back for two days until it healed. “Surprise me” she says with a grin.

Huh? Did she just give me freedom to do whatever? Looking at her, unsure of what she was saying. “You choose” she exclaims.

“It’s a trap, Jess” Celeste warns. “I don’t think I should choose.”

She narrows her eyes again; “you dare speak back to your Luna?" I cringe, snapping out of the timidness I had. How dare she have the gall to call herself my Luna, “You are not my Luna” I firmly say. She grabbed my hair, yanking me to the floor; kicking me in the stomach, “I want an outfit by 3pm, plenty of time for you to make it. NOW GET MOVING.”

I pull myself up, “plenty of time my ass” I say to Celeste hobbling to the little sewing room. “You can do this Jessi” she encourages “You always do.” "Thanks, Cel”
