Chapter 2

Lucas

The minute I came out of Katrina’s room and started scoping out the sub for the night, I was instantly disappointed. Nearly every girl was shit-faced and I’d likely end up with one of them passing out on me or being just plain sloppy. I would rather go home.

As I started for the door, I saw her. I’ve never seen her before so she must be new. Or maybe I just never noticed her? She wore a very short black cotton dress with sleeves like a T-shirt. It was basically a long black T-shirt she had on it seemed.

She had an amazing body, kind of like Katrina’s but not as superficial looking. She had this long, dark brown hair that went halfway down her back, and the brightest green eyes I’ve ever seen. She was walking toward the kitchen, trying to slyly pull her dress down at the sides. It was really short but honestly, she didn’t have anything that she needed to hide.

I waited outside the door to the kitchen to see if maybe she was walking out soon. I checked my watch and realized she had been in there for ten minutes. What was she doing in there?

When I walked in I saw her pouring her cup out in the sink. She stood on her toes to do it, flexing those calf muscles. Yep, this is the one for tonight.

Once I was finally able to get her out of the kitchen, I took her to the docks. Classic move— take her to a scenic view outdoors, make meaningless small talk, and then get her somewhere I can let loose this pent-up frustration in my jeans.

While sitting there, she looked up at the stars. Obviously in deep thought. I couldn’t help but stop and take in how pretty she actually is. She’s absolutely gorgeous. She has apparent self-esteem issues or is a bit inexperienced. I can’t quite tell, but that makes it all the better.

At least she doesn’t seem like she sleeps around a lot. I couldn’t care less, it’s just nice to not have to carry around and guide someone that’s wasted and might possibly puke all over me. It’s happened more times than I’d like to admit.

The longer I sat and stared the more I decided she’s an alright replacement for Katrina. Pretty face. Incredible legs. Hair that smells delicious. Better, even.

I know don’t recognize her from school, but she may have said something about being homeschooled or something. I can’t say I was really listening.

I lead her to the front of the house where all the cars are parked and take her to where my car is and help her into the backseat.

“This is nice, is this your car?”

“Yeah...? Would you think I’d just lead you into some random person’s car?” That’s the thing about her, she sounds so naïve, but she’s wearing a dress I’m sure her parents would never approve of and is giving me the eyes.

“Oh, I guess you’re right, but I don’t really know you, so you can’t blame me for questioning you.”

I get it. Safety and all that. I’m not looking to murder her. Just fuck her and be done with this night. “Well, then, tell me something about you.”

She thinks about it for a while like her answer really matters.

“I like Cap’n Crunch.”

“What?”

“You know, the cereal. It’s my favorite and I can’t go one morning without it. It’s my version of a coffee addiction.”

“That’s...” strange, “interesting.” Of all the things she could have shared. She obviously doesn’t want to make this very personal, which I can respect.

“Tell me something about you, then, Lucas.”

Man, this is taking longer than usual. Granted, this was a new girl. She didn’t know me and I didn’t know her—like she pointed out. We were pretty much strangers but even then, I should already be done with her.

Now that I finally got her into my car, she still wants to talk. Doesn’t she realize this is the part where you shut up and slide your panties off? Maybe I’ll just have her tell me something else about herself and she will think it’s special. I’m over her trying to play miss naïve princess.

“Uh, I like fixing cars.”

“Really? Did you fix this—”

I’m done. I cut her off. Just leaned down and kissed her. Judging by the way she’s not fighting it, I should be good now.

I put my hand on the top of her bare knee and rub circles over the skin ever so slightly, while I gently slip my tongue into her mouth. She seems genuinely surprised, maybe she really does like to act innocent. I slowly work my hand up her thigh and even though she seemed to resist at first, she relaxed a little after I said some meaningless words in her ear. Chicks really seem to be into the whole false promises of the future crap. She’s eating it right up.

Allie

We’re kissing in the back of his car and he’s really, REALLY, kissing me. Like hard. My mind is going crazy right now. I was a little hesitant for him to feel my leg but the minute he whispered into my ear; I knew this might turn into something. I’ve always thought I liked Ted, but he never pays attention anyways and this Lucas will either make him jealous or fill the boyfriend spot for now.

“I could do this forever,” he whispers into my ear before kissing softly down my neck. Holy wow! I have never felt this before. He is causing my body to feel all kinds of sparks and butterflies right now. I always wanted to be in this position in high school, getting all touchy with a boy, I just never thought it would actually happen since every guy at school is afraid of my dad.

He starts sucking on my neck softly and his hands make their way to my breasts. I know I should stop. I know. But he seems to genuinely like me and I’m not ready to give this up.

Lucas starts moving my dress up, and I let his hand roam my body. His fingers land between my legs and I gasp. “Shhh, baby, it’s okay. Don’t you want to see how happy I can make you?” He whispers into my neck.

I nodded, “Okay.”

And…I let him. I let him take my virginity. When he was finished, he huffed and checked his phone before giving me a “great, thanks,” and kicked me out of his car.

It wasn’t until he settled in the driver’s side without even looking at me I realized he never even asked for my name.

2 Months Later

“Allie, I don’t understand, is it the flu or something?” Charity came over after school again to bring me all of my homework and copies of her notes. I’m so thankful we have every class together. It’s on purpose, though.

I had been throwing up all week and not been able to eat at all. I can’t even keep water down at this point. All four years of high school, I had perfect attendance and with two months left, I’m not even able to get out of bed. Not that perfect attendance gets any scholarships anyway. Just a bland name called at graduation. I would know, I’ve looked into it.

“I don’t know, I can’t keep anything down at all. It sucks and I’m miserable.” Charity looks down at me with concern.

“I’ve just never known you to be sick before. I don’t see why suddenly you’re basically bed-ridden in the middle of spring before we have to finish up all of our senior projects and everything.” Charity had brought me a container of soup she made. She had some secret recipe that always made her colds go away super-fast and made her feel better almost immediately. She handed me a bowl with a spoon and I slowly sipped it.

“I have no idea, Char, I’ve never felt so awful and disgusting in my life.”

Charity’s brother, Ted, walked into my room suddenly holding a plate with toast. “Ted!” I gasped, mentally chastising my friend for bringing her brother here knowing I’m a disgusting mess. “What—what are you doing here?!”

“Well, I had to drive Charity here. How else would she bring all your stuff? Besides, I made you toast to go with the soup. I usually like sourdough whenever Charity makes it for me.” He set the plate next to me while I tried to smooth out my greasy, disgusting hair.

“Well, thanks, I guess.”

“You feeling any better, kid?” I used to love his nickname for me, but ever since that Lucas basically conned me into giving up my innocence, the nickname has been rather unfit for me.

“No, I think I’ll ask my dad to take me to the doctor tomorrow.”

“Hey Ted, can you give us a minute?” Charity asked her brother to go wait for her in the car until she was done. She told him she would only be a few minutes.

“Okay, I know this is way out there, but do you think there might be the slightest,” she pinched her fingers together, “most tiniest possibility that you maybe could have possibly gotten…”

“Charity, I’m about thirty seconds from a reappearance of your soup. Spit it out.”

“Do you think you could be pregnant?”

I curse the day I told her about that. It was a big deal and everything, but I just wanted to forget it ever happened.

“No!”

Charity sat on my bed next to me and grabbed my cold, clammy hands. “Let me ask you this.” She looked right into my eyes. “Did you use protection?”

“I think so, I mean I saw him take the…you know what and put it on his…you know what.”

Charity rolls her eyes. “You really weren’t prepared for something like that. This is why you call me or text me to ask for my advice.”

I leaned over and grabbed the giant bowl my dad brought me in case I threw up. I held it up on my lap, feeling the need coming again.

“When was your last period?”

There it was. All the soup I sipped. My body rejected it immediately.

Charity rubbed circles on my back and held my hair for me as I held my head over the bowl.

“Allie, I get that you don’t want to face what happened, but if you are…pregnant…you’ll have a much bigger issue on your hands and it’s not something you can ignore.”

She reaches into her backpack and pulls out a box. “Here, just see what it says.”

I stare at the box. It’s ridiculous. She’s going overboard.

But then again…

It’s funny how ten minutes ago I was thinking about a Chemistry test coming up and now I’m staring at the clear lines on a plastic test thing realizing my dad’s dreams for me going to medical school are basically over now.
