3. A Sudden Mishap
The ride to the Capital was nothing short of exhausting.
Reya had thrown a mad fit at Castiel, the Alpha's heir and was giving him a hard time because she felt as though he was the one that had orchestrated the whole issue behind the scenes.
She was certain that she was conscientious about not leaving any hints about their tryst.
Alpha Castiel on the other hand, was not very receiving of her attitude.
He had strived to ride in her carriage in Chasity’s stead but Reya was such a stubborn and willful woman.
Right then, they were yet to arrive the capital.
Last she asked the horsemen, they asserted the entourage had an hour’s journey left.
The carriage Chasity and Reya were transported in was nothing short of luxurious.
The exterior of the four wheeled vehicle was a lush dark red color with fine swirls of black ink that indicated it was the red dragon clan’s property.
The inside was padded with soft red cushions that had tiny gems giving the interior a luminous sparkle.
But Reya seldom cared for the luxury of her transport. If they let her, she would have simply shifted into her dragon and flown right into the Royal Dragon’s kingdom.
However, it was forbidden and seen as a direct threat to the castle.
She considered other means that would hasten up her transport and the first thing that came to her mind was a car.
But cars were strictly forbidden in this new world, one that was void of humans.
Unless the Engineers of this new nightmarish world of supernaturals could come up with a vehicle that would avoid transmitting any signals that proved their existence to the human world, they were doomed to the fate of carriages.
“I wonder why brother insists on riding with you. I doubt I have ever seen him so agitated” Chasity said curiously, eyeing her elder sister from the corner of her eye.
Reya sighed and patted Chasity on the head affectionately.
“I believe he lets his idiotic tendencies overrule his sense of reasoning sometimes” Reya huffed in a dismissive tone.
She was barely in her best mood because she detested carriage rides.
They always left her feeling a bit nauseous.
She regretted eating before embarking on this journey.
“Hmm. I believe he can be a bit silly but I do wonder what he did to you”
Reya didn’t reply to that and simply placed her head against the crimson cushions to rest.
Her headache was horrible.
To avoid it, she decided on a short nap that would keep the pain at bay.
The next time she opened her eyes, they had arrived at the castle.
She spotted cobalt blue coaches on the premises indicating that the Blue dragon clan had arrived before them.
Sighing, she waited on the men to open the doors so she could inspect the castle.
Once the door was spread away from the main coach, a small black stool was placed on the floor.
She ducked her head as gracefully as she could and the horseman took her gloved hand gently.
Reya knew she could be a bit clumsy at times so she ensured that her feet were on the stool before she looked up.
Her mouth parted slightly at the beauty of the golden castle erected before her.
The castle was bold on the blue beyond. It stood there as if it were conjured solely from the story book of a child. It was simply perfect.
There was something similar to a waterfall running in between the spaces of the towers.
If there was water in the direct foundations of this castle then just how did it look so strong?
Reya could imagine unicorns in the courtyard they arrived in and how could she not?
If those impressive gold towers could coexist with waterfalls then why would unicorns be impossible to fathom?
As she gazed at the towers that soared into the clouds she wondered whether the castle was made of stone or gold. The stone bricks were so perfect after all. Perhaps the castle was painted in gold?
But who could have reached so high into that altitude to paint those bricks gold?
Was the Dragon Empire so rich as to build a castle with gold?
She could never really know unless she asked but for now, she was satisfied with admiring the towers of gold amidst a wide landscape of green that was such a fine accompaniment to the Bonny foliage.
“What a beautiful castle Reya” Chasity breathed dreamily.
“It surely is” she agreed without hesitation.
From the corner of her eye, she noted that Alpha Castiel had alighted from his coach.
Before he could make her way to her, the Royal staff separated the women of the Red Dragon clan from the men and ushered them into the castle.
Reya gazed longingly at the gazebo in the midst of the massive hedges that composed a decent garden.
She had already deciphered that there was an even larger garden somewhere else and this one was just for decorative purposes.
Reya decided she was going to venture into the gardens much later.
Interrupting her trail of thoughts, the colossal oak wood doors parted and the entourage of the Red Dragon Clan was ushered into the royal premises.
The massive hallways had two rows of guards with armors so colorful and flamboyant they almost diverted Reya’s attention from the beautiful hallways. She made an observation that the guards were dressed in Gold, Blue, Red, Grey and white- the colors of all the dragons that ever existed in the Dragon Empire.
The black dragon color was obviously not represented as black dragons were seen as a taboo that were killed on sight.
Reya’s feet padded softly on the light red carpet that ran across the entire length of the hallway.
The sunlight from the Teardrop shaped windows reflected directly on the golden walls, filling her surroundings with a warm, golden, glowing and glimmering light.
Reya had not the faintest idea of what heaven may look like but if they were a place in their world that could match its description, she was positive that this castle may match to the ethereal beauty of the heavens.
However, she was soon distracted by the nausea that had gathered at the pit of her stomach from her carriage ride.
Even though she was a White Dragon, Reya always had a weak stomach for as long as she could remember.
As soon as she was introduced to the chambers she was to reside in before the coming ball in the evening, the nausea residing in the depths of her stomach surfaced to her throat.
“Please excuse me,” Reya sighed, pressing a hand to her head as she combated with the wicked sickness she was plagued with.
“Are you alright Lady Reya?” The worried maid queried, seeing the pale expression on the lady she was assigned to attend to.
“Give me a few minutes” she said, swiftly turning away and pressing a hand to her stomach.
Dear Gods, not now.
The maid exited her chambers with a confused pinch of her eyebrows and shut the twin doors.
Swiftly, Reya darted towards the door she supposed was the bathroom.
She turned the knob repeatedly only to realize that the door was locked.
“Curse my luck” she hissed, running across the vast chambers to find anything she could barf into.
The place was as good as empty.
Her head pounded with her nausea and she pressed her hand over her mouth to repress her vomit.
That effort was obviously useless.
When the feeling had overcome all her senses, she ran to the nearest window, pushed back the blinds and retched.
At once, she was relieved.
“Oh thank goodness.....” her voice trailed off as she heard horrified gasps from the ground floor which was not too far from the third floor she was located at.
Because of her sharp hearing, she could hear everything that occurred on the ground floor.
From the terrified gasps and grunts, she knew that her vomit had not gone unnoticed.
Heavens, no!
Had she thrown up on a group of people? Just how bad was her timing?
“Your highness!” A horrified scream echoed into her ears.
Reya’s eyes widened in horror and she ducked her head into her chambers and pressed her frame against the wall.
What was she thinking when she threw up right out of a window?
She had vomited on a royal!
If she was caught, it would reflect horrendously on her image and that of the red Dragon Clan.
In fact, all the honor the royal dragons had intended to bestow on her would be withdrawn!
She had just entered the royal palace barely ten minutes ago and this was already happening?
“What sort of mannerless behavior is this?” A woman shrieked.
“Are you alright? We are-“
“Find who did this to me and report at once!” Reya heard a deep voice rumble furiously.
She pressed a hand to her mouth, feeling sick again.
Just how unlucky could she get?
What were the odds she would vomit on a royal?
Reya was never raised or bred to have the best of manners and once she did something wrong, she always got away with it.
Apparently this time, karma was going to catch up with her.
Reya was beginning to think twice about attending that ball in the evening.
Fearfully, she dashed out of her chambers to find Chasity.
**Perhaps this author’s sense of humor is broken, but I am yet to understand why I found Reya’s barf landing on a Royal so hilarious.
I hope you have enjoyed this chapter :)
