Chapter 7

Chapter 7

It had been two days since that interview of his fiancée, Cameron, in the morning show of Ms. Georgia, but his girlfriend never showed up in the hospital.

There was no message from her either. He tried to reach out to her through calls but she just ignored them and even his messages. He couldn’t believe everything that she just said in the interview.

Since he couldn’t do anything because of what happened, he just decided to confront her later. He would do that first thing once he was discharged in the hospital.

Levi was in front of Cameron’s house because he really wanted to talk to her about everything that she said in the morning talk show. He felt like he didn’t know her at all because of all the words that came out from her mouth.

They both knew that everything that she said was a lie. And why would she even lie when he did nothing but love her?

Unfortunately, Levi’s waiting had gone in vain. He got home very disappointed.

Levi felt like he was a failure. It seemed like Cameron didn’t even want to see him after what happened to him.

“Bro, you can go back some other time. Tomorrow, we are going to have a live interview with you and our team,” Eric said while he was sitting on the couch.

Eric was one of his teammates in the game though Eric was also participating in the badminton category.

He was his best friend as well. So, Levi felt like he wanted to break down in front of him. He was looking at his best friend with a sad face. He couldn’t hide the loneliness in his face.

Levi couldn’t accept everything that happened. Up to now, he couldn’t get a grasp of everything. His life was almost perfect then all of a sudden that accident happened. His life was turned upside down and he felt like it was playing a joke on him.

In a second, the universe made him feel that he was the luckiest man on earth for it just to be taken away after a couple of hours. Literally as the day ended, his happiness disappeared and what was worse was, his legs were taken away from him.

That’s the major thing that he couldn’t understand. He wanted to curse but he tried to keep everything inside.

“I--- I don’t understand why she is like that, Eric. I am so confused. When I was at the hospital, she never showed up. She never sent any message to ask if I was even alive. Did she not really love me?” He said as he rolled his fist. He was trying to fight back the tears that wanted to flow from his eyes.

He didn’t want to show to his best friend that he was crying over a woman.

There would be no sense crying for a woman who obviously didn’t care for him after the accident. The woman that he had loved and promised forever but suddenly gone during the times that he needed her the most.

Levi couldn’t help but think if Cameron really loved him or she just tried to play on him. He couldn’t avoid thinking that way because of the attitude that the woman had shown to him. They were very happy until the accident happened.

“Levi, you're finally back,” his mother said from behind.

She smiled at his best friend. “Thank you, Eric. I appreciate that you accompany my son. So, how is it? Have you talked to Cameron? Have you seen her? How is everything?” His mother asked one after the other. He didn’t know but even his mother was just concerned, he felt irritated.

But he couldn’t yell at his mother.

He tried to calm himself down and then he looked at his mother. He just shook his head in response to all of her questions.

“She didn’t even show up. No one even let us get inside. Her whole family didn't like the thought that I was even there,” he said in a cracked voice. He voiced it out since he could see that there was no sense of lying with his own mother.

If there’s a person who could definitely understand him then it would be none other than his mother.

He felt his mother pull his head and then she leaned his head on her stomach. He felt like he wanted to break down as her mother hugged him while he was sitting in his wheelchair.

Eric patiently helped him. He pushed his wheelchair and then he helped him to get inside of Eric’s car.

Levi felt that he was useless because he couldn’t even get inside the car by himself. That accident, it stole everything away from him. He wanted to get mad at the world, but he knew that anger wouldn’t even change a thing.

He just kept silent. He didn’t want to think about anything because he had already been through a lot in just a couple of days.

If he only knew this happened, he wished that he was not yet back in the country. He should have stayed in Korea and roamed around there. Maybe, he still had his feet.

His mother was looking at him. He knew that even if he wouldn’t be saying anything. She was worried about him. He knew that her mother was getting hurt ten times the pain that he was feeling.

But he didn’t want anyone to feel pity for him. That’s the last thing that he wanted to see in their eyes.

His mother reached for his hands. Her eyes were telling him that she wished the accident only happened to her.

But he knew that he couldn’t afford that to happen as well. He wouldn’t want his mom in that kind of situation.
