CHAPTER 1

THREE YEARS LATER

Haven couldn’t believe what was happening on this special day of hers. She was turning twenty-four as well as her other two sisters. She was born a triplet and thanks to that, so many eyes were on her. Unlike her sisters, Haven was different.

She wasn’t that feminine and she hated school more than anything else. When her sisters were busy practicing ballet, she was busy learning how to fight, play with toys and being strong.

It was very difficult for her when she was young and in the end she just became a tom boy.

She watched as she was seated in one of the couches as her other sister Heart was busy parading her boyfriend. From what she knows, Heart and Will had been dating for about six months and how they met was very funny and she didn’t like thinking about it.

Something was fishy but she didn’t care, she just wanted the night to go away so that she could return to her own business.

“Well, well, well. I couldn’t even notice that my sister was here,” Heart mocked and she just ignored.

“Don’t you have a place you could be?”

“I just want to be here, talk to you and see what else is different about you. You are twenty-four sis and I still don’t see any improvement in your life,” Heart mocked her again.

If she could beat her own sister, she could but she was afraid she could kill her. She took a deep breath and looked at Heart.

“What I do and don’t do is none of your business. My advice for you would be to go back to Will and hang yourself around him and leave me alone or I will puff my smoke on that little precious face of yours,” she said with a huge smile.

Haven knew how much her sisters adored their faces, which is one of the reasons why they were all in the entertainment world. Only if they knew who they owed for their success they would be crawling all over her and give her the proper respect she deserved.

Heart didn’t take too much time before she left her alone. She needed some air, so she left the couch and the room and went outside. She needed her cigarette but the problem was she had forgotten her pack back at her mansion. So what was she going to do? She pondered and while she was thinking of what to do, she appeared.

She had a tendency of appearing whenever she was in trouble. She was very good at her job; she had noticed over the past few years.

“I guess you are looking for this!”

“Indeed I am. You just saved lives,” Haven said taking the cigarette.

“At your service.”

“It’s a great night. Why don’t you go and mingle inside, you never know a cute guy may sweep you off your feet,” Haven said as she lit her cigarette.

“It’s not time for me to do that.’

“Let me give you some advice Lee, you need to have some fun whilst you can. Just look at me, I can’t have it all thanks to that prophecy. What you have is a job and your boss wants you to rest and have some fun. If you disobey me then will punish you to the fullest extent and I doubt you will take it,” she said.

Everyone knew the kind of punishments she was able to do and it wasn’t that simple.

“I will obey your order but I will first give the shadow guards some instructions before I follow your order.”

“That’s okay and while you are at it leave the box to me. I’m afraid I’m going to need a lot of this,” she said and took the box from Leena her chief shadow guard.

Just like how she came, Lee disappeared again. Whoever trained her shadow guards was a genius and she was going to meet that person soon.

After a smoke she returned back inside just in time for the cutting of the cake. She walked straight to the front and saw the look her mother gave her and she just smiled at her.

Haven, Heart and her other sister Helen hold the knife firmly and cut deep through the cake and it was done. She was free to escape from this party now or she can just walk to her parents and dismiss herself. She was a grown up woman and a tough one.

She was about to go when Heart stood in the front of everyone with Will. What was she going to say in front of so many people?

“Thank you all for coming to this special day. While we are all still in the joyful mood I would like to make a very special announcement to everyone. It just couldn’t wait,” Heart said and Haven smiled as she saw the twinkling ring on her sister’s finger before she continued, “me and Will we be getting engaged and I would like to invite everyone to our engagement party in two weeks.”

Everyone clapped full of joy and excitement; Haven looked at her parents and saw their faces glooming. They were very happy. Among the five of the children in her family, only the boys were married and if Heart were to follow in those steps then it was going to be a joyful event for the family.

She applauded like everyone else and walked to where her parents were.

“What is it this time?” her father asked.

“I wanted to tell you that I am leaving,” she said.

“You can’t leave. It’s your birthday party.”

“I know and I surely don’t want a fight here which is why I told you and now I will be leaving. If anyone asks just tell them work came up,” she said.

“What work? Do you even have a job?” her mother asked.

“Apparently, I do have a job mother and I won’t pick a fight with you. So please excuse me, I will see you another day,” Haven said and left the hall.
