Chapter 9: Wild Thoughts

Jasmine's POV

Monday came like a blur. It took everything in me to get over what happened between my boss and I Friday evening. I wished he would have at least listened to what I had to say.

What did I expect? He was Evan Hollen. One of most powerful and successful twenty five year old males in all of America. People paid homage to this man-- loved by many, hated by few, but respected by everyone.

I, on the other hand, was a mediocre black woman who could only afford an apartment and couldn't save her mother's life, now that she was depending on it.

I heaved a frustrated sigh as I walked up to the elevator at my work place. I gathered myself together and erased my emotions and feelings. I had to act professional and forget about what happened with Mr. Hollen.

I walked out of the elevator and slowly headed to my desk. Once there, I started my desktop computer and began checking emails so I could respond to them.

The doors to his office pushed open and he walked out.

"Good morning," he spoke.

"Good morning," I answered, not taking my eyes off the computer. I was too ashamed to even look at him and I knew if I did those feelings would come bursting through me like a volcanic eruption. My heart raced as I knew he was standing there, looking at my every move and body language.

I continued to type, avoiding his gaze and the butterflies in my stomach.

"Can I see you in my office?" he asked with total firmness in his tone of voice.

I exhaled the breath I had been keeping bundled up. I scrapped off my chair and followed him into his office. My eyes locked on his back through his neat, expensive, dark blue Armani suit.

"Yes sir," I blurted as I stood in front of his desk and he sat down in his chair.

His eyes pierced through me and I felt a heat coming over my body at once.

Volcanic eruption. This is going to be bigger than Mount Pinatubo.

I wanted this man. Here and now. The only problem was... he didn't want me.

"About what happened. I never apologized for it. I am sorry," he said.

I was perplexed. "Sorry for what, exactly? Kicking me out or having me in your bed?"

"Actually, both. And that will ever happen again. You're an excellent employee and I wish for it to remain professional between us."

"I understand Mr. Hollen. I had already forgotten that it ever happened," I lied.

I couldn't forget. I forced my mind to put it behind me and dealt with the fact that he was just not into me.

"Good," he answered. "You can go back to your desk now."

I turned on my heel to leave but stopped me.

"Wait a moment Miss Blackman. I need you to print out five copies of these, proofread these six documents, and make the necessary changes and corrections before the day is over, fax these to all the levels, reschedule the meeting with this investor, his file is in the computer, and take messages for people who call for me. I'm leaving for the remainder of the week."

"Really?"

"Yes really. My mother is celebrating her fiftieth birthday and we're sailing to the Cayman Islands."

"That sounds nice. I hope you have fun," I outed.

He gave me a cold glare.

Why? What did I say wrong?

"In the meantime, Josh Brayan will be in charge and you'll answer to him and only him."

"What time are you leaving?" I asked in a professional tone.

"Half day."

"Okay," I responded and turned to leave again.

I went back to my desk and began faxing the documents to the other levels. I took time to proofread the information he had given me and told to make the necessary changes and corrections.

I wish I could have accompanied him on this trip to the Cayman Islands with his family. I wish I was the one who he loved and not Jessica Hills . I wish he would develop some type of feelings for me and tells me how much he wants me in his life.

I was even wishing for a genie to grant me my wishes.

I shook the thoughts away and got back to the work at hand. I was going overboard with these feelings and I needed to calm the hell down before I found myself out of a job.

My phone line rang.

" I need a favor from you. Come back to my office," his voice spoke.

I heaved a smile and went back to his office.

"I forgot to tell you that... ummm," he stuttered.

He raked his fingers through his hair as those luminous grey eyes looked at me. I was so lost in them. They could hypnotize anyone. His mouth opened again then it shut.

My heart skipped several beats.

He got up from his chair and walked over to me, right in front of me. His cologne was filling my nostrils, his hard chest was sending out a magnetic force over my body, pulling me in. My feet wobbled as I had to stop myself from jumping onto him and having my way with this incredible looking man. He was so damn perfect.

God really is an artist to sculpt this beautiful human being before my eyes.

"You've got something stuck in your hair," he softly muttered in my ear.

I've never heard that tone of voice before from him.

It sounded so seductive and I was certain I had wet myself down there. His hand went up to my hair and removed a white object that looked like a piece of paper. I trembled with electricity as he was so close to me. His scent, his breath, his touch. They were doing all sorts of things to me.

"Thank you," I said softly. I closed my eyes to contain myself again.

I could not take it anymore. I turned on my heels, so quickly, and went back to my desk.

Okay, think of something terrible about him. I said to myself as I had to shake away this feeling. Think about his smelly breath on mornings. Think about all the one night stands he had with a bunch of different women. Think about the evil witch who was sitting on his lap in his office. Think about... Think about.....

Oh his eyes are so beautiful and they shine like the sun when he's happy and laughing. He's the most handsome man I've ever seen. And his body is like a....

Oh Jasmine! Shut up! My subconscious mind said.

I went back to proofreading.

Mr. Hollen's girlfriend, Jessica Hills, walked by my desk and went into his office.

Well at least she erased those wild thoughts, I said to myself again. For now anyway.
