Chapter 2 I've Loved him for Eight Years

Arabella woke up late to find herself lying in a hospital bed.

The smell of the hospital's sterile water was extraordinarily pungent, making her cringe in discomfort.

She unconsciously stroked her lower abdomen and nervously tried to sit up. "The baby... My baby..."

Emma Smith just pushed the door to come in, seeing this she quickly pressed her back, "Don't move, Bella! You're very weak now!"

Arabella eagerly grasped her hand, "Emma, how's my baby?"

Thinking about the sight of Arabella lying unconscious on the sofa last night, Emma felt a pang of fear in her heart, "You almost had a miscarriage! It's a good thing you've been sent to hospital in time, thus the baby was saved just in time."

Arabella then sighed in relief and smiled apologetically at Emma, "Thank you."

Seeing her bestie's glad look on her face from a brush of death, Emma shook her head and asked, "Nothing, but Arabella, when do you have a baby? Why didn't you tell me?"

"It was just checked out yesterday."

"What about Ezra James? Does he know?"

Arabella paused, lowered her eyes and shook her head gently, "... He doesn't know. I haven't told him yet."

Emma widened and she instantly became angry, "You are pregnant but he doesn't know it, what kind of man is this? He let you stay home alone at night. Yesterday you almost miscarried but he even didn't make a phone call to ask till now!"

The more she said, the angrier she became. Emma grabbed her mobile phone and tried to call Ezra James, "This man dares to live up to my precious Bella, today I'll teach him how to be a man!"

Arabella was frightened by her and hurriedly reached out to stop it, "Don't..."

Emma jumped in anger, "Bella, why are you still defending this kind of scumbag like this? Are you out of your mind?"

"Ezra asked for a divorce last night..." Arabella's thin lashes fluttered softly and she smiled bitterly, "... Beth Ruth is back."

"That green tea bitch came back?"

Emma was surprised. She hadn't heard the woman's name in a long time.

"Did Ezra James let her come back? How can this man be so heartless? He's already married to you, and he's still charmed by that woman. it seems that he's not a good man either. Now this bastard wants a divorce. So what? It's not easy to find a three-legged toad, but there are plenty of two-legged men. With your family background and looks, there are plenty of men lining up to marry you!"

Arabella shook her head, softly stopped Emma's enthusiastic speech, "Emma, I've loved him for eight years, there's no way I can just leave."

She gently stroked her stomach as if to convince herself, "And now that I'm pregnant, maybe life will be better off after the baby is born..."

In the midst of love and lust, one lived and one died.

Arabella, who had always been sober, lonely and cold, had long since fallen into the abyss named 'Ezra James' and was unable to extricate herself.

Emma gave her a complicated look. She wanted to say something but was at a loss for words seeing the poor Arabella.

Just then, there was a sudden knock on the door of the ward.

A doctor in a white coat came in, followed by a nurse.

"Excuse me, time for a ward round today." The man nodded slightly and his voice was deep and gentle. His point-like eyes looked over quietly

Arabella looked at him and suddenly felt something familiar about the man.

His face was gentle and clear, with a high nose and deep eyebrows, making people feel comfortable and calm for no reason.

The man lowered his head and narrowed his eye, no more words, just turned over her case.

"Mrs. James, although the baby was saved this time, there are signs of slippage. I hope you can take care of your recuperation and also keep your intercourse affairs under control, preferably not for the first three months."

Arabella didn't expect this young handsome doctor so blunt, she nodded awkwardly, with her ears tinged with red.

The nurse who is helping Arabella change the infusion bottle chuckled, lifted Arabella's hand, and said, "Never mind. This is an occupational disease for Dr. Noah Hall."

The doctor sniffed and looked up, just seeing Arabella's lightly raised wrist.

The woman's delicate jade-like wrist was slender and white, with only a small scar on the inside that was particularly conspicuous.

His facial slightly as he subconsciously went up and grabbed Arabella's arm, looked at the woman and sank his voice to ask, "Mrs. James, how did you get this scar?"

Arabella was a little surprised but still said truthfully, "I got this by accident when I was a kid. What's wrong?"

The man wrinkled his brow and tried to pursue the question, but the nurse behind him suddenly reminded him that it was almost time for an operation.

He frowned and hesitated a few seconds, then he nodded to Arabella, "You have a good rest first."

Soon they were gone, closing the door behind them.

It wasn't until the ward was empty that Emma just squeezed her eyebrows at Arabella, "Bella, you see? I told you that it's easy for you to get a new man. I didn't expect that now the doctor's appearance level is so high? It made my heart flutter."

Arabella gave her a white look, "Be careful what you say. You already got your Wyatt."

Emma spat out her tongue. Although Wyatt was good-natured, he was much difficult to soothe when he got jealous.

With Emma by her side, Arabella recovered quickly. She had stayed in the hospital for two days, and Emma was almost acquainted with the doctors and nurses

But for two days, Ezra had not appeared, not even a single phone call.

He probably didn't even know she's in the hospital, did he?

Arabella laughed bitterly, Ezra was far more ruthless than she thought and no one could compete with him.

She's used to it.

But when she was discharged from hospital on the third day and returned to James's villa, looking at the large yet empty villa, she couldn't help but ask herself in a trance, "Are you really used to it?"

If she was used to it, why did her heart flush with dense pain when she looked at the empty and cold villa, as if no one had set foot in it since the day she left home?

In the night

Arabella looked at the dark night and finally determined to dial Ezra's number.

The other side answered quickly.

"Hello?"

A familiar and strange female voice passed through the phone.

Arabella immediately froze, with her blood turning cold all of a sudden.

It's Beth Ruth's voice!

Arabella's brain went blank for a moment, after all these years, she could still recognize this woman's voice instantly

"... Put Ezra on the phone." Her tone was cold, she tried not to tremble, yet her fingers were pinching her sleeve unconsciously and fiercely.

The woman on the other side seemed to feel a little surprised by Arabella's composure and paused for a few seconds before speaking sweetly and delicately, "Ezra is taking a bath. I'll have him call you later!"

Arabella couldn't believe that Beth Ruth hadn't recognized her voice, if she really hung up the phone, that woman could never take the initiative to let Ezra call back.

Arabella gripped the edge of her phone with a deadly grip, she didn't want to back down, also, she really did have an urgent matter for him.

Fortunately, the man's cold and impatient voice soon came across the phone.

"What's wrong?"
