Chapter 6 Disaster

(Lena's POV)

God knows how worried and scared I have been for the past few days.

I escaped from Raphael's house two days ago and didn't even dare to make a phone call to Nina.

His threats kept echoing in my ears, tormenting me daily and nightly. But two days passed.

I spent two full days hiding in this home.

There is no way, in order not to involve other people, escape is perhaps my only choice now.

But that's not the end of it.

From the moment my door was knocked open by my landlord, I understood that Rafael was going to get at me.

"Good morning, Mrs. Mary, may I ask what can I do for you?" I pulled open the door and looked at my landlady very politely.

She looked as if she was blushing too, and after giving me a hard smile, she announced the reason for her visit.

"Lena, honey, I'm sorry to tell you this news."

I heard my heart beating fast, but I didn't interrupt her.

"This apartment, you have to move out within two days, I know it's a little difficult for you, but, honey, I don't want to make it difficult for you, there's just no way ......"

I understand her.

I think we may all be facing the same dilemma, and the situation at Lady Mary's house doesn't seem to be very promising, and as to who is really to blame, I am naturally clear.

"Thank you, Lady Mary, I'll do it as soon as I can."

I had nowhere else to go and needed money the most, so I went to the bank.

However, when I was told by the bank staff that all the money in my card had been frozen for some reason, I was truly in a deep state of powerlessness.

Raphael was determined to put me to death, and I knew he wouldn't stop there, but I still wasn't going to compromise when I thought of the ridiculous and unreasonable treaty in that agreement.

When I got back to school, my teacher specifically approached me with a stony look on her face, which already confirmed some of my thoughts.

"Teacher, if there is anything you can say, you can just say it."

My voice trembled a little, afraid to hear something that would be enough to destroy me, but it was something I had to face.

The teacher told me that there was no way I could get the scholarship for this year.

Someone broke the story that I faked my test scores and found a whole bunch of evidence from who knows where.

The scariest part was that I had to return the previous scholarship within a month or else, I would be dropped from the school.

"Lester, I don't understand what's gotten into you, and I'm disappointed in you."

"Teacher, I didn't do this, I didn't cheat." I could only make such a pale explanation I knew very well that she did not believe what I said, probably to preserve the last bit of my dignity, she simply let me leave.

I was engulfed by a sense of powerlessness, like water without fish, with no way to live.

I need the money, I need it badly.

When this became clear to me, I had no other choice. After I came to the Public Security Bureau, I told the police all that had happened, and they answered me only that there was nothing they could do.

"Miss, I have a lot of sympathy for what you are going through, but the bank has frozen your account for the right reasons and you have no evidence that you were planted and framed."

"But I need you to help me find this evidence ......"

"Miss, there's nothing we can do." The policeman looked at me and skimmed his lips as he made a please gesture, hoping I could stop wasting time here.

I got up and left without stopping.

I didn't want to bother Nina, who had already helped me too much, but this time, I got a call from Nina first.

As soon as I answered the phone, I could hear the cries on the other end of the line.

"Hello? Wait! Nina, what's wrong with you?"

Nina's sobs stopped and finally changed to sobs, "Baby, I ...... know there's nothing you can do, but I'm so sad!"

"Just calm down and tell me, what's wrong with you?"

"I was fired."

"What?" I furrowed my brow, wondering a little about my ears.

"Yes, Lena, I'm fired! I'm screwed! I'm thinking about going on a robbery, I need the money badly now." Nina was so unstable, I thought she would do something like that.

And her dismissal must have been all Rafael's doing.

All because of me.

I resisted the urge to curse and told her to keep her sanity and not to go and do something stupid. I wanted to just leave, escape Raphael, and live somewhere else, but now I can't go at all.

Nina's situation is no better than mine. She needs money badly, probably more than I do, her mother has cancer and her bar job makes her only income.

I can't ask her to take up anything for me.

I went to the bar and met the owner of the bar - Ryan.

"How was your rest, Lena, you look good." Ryan didn't even seem to know why I had come to him and greeted me with a laid-back look.

"Thanks for asking, Ryan." I didn't want to bullshit him; in fact, I was far less familiar with this boss.

"I want to ask, why did you fire Nina?"

Ryan heard my words, very exaggeratedly covered his stomach, and laughed out loud: "Hey! Honey, you ask a boss why he fires his employees? Because they don't make money, of course!"

Ryan's words made my face roll, but, because of the dimness of the bar setting, it probably wasn't obvious that there was anything there.

I took a deep breath: "But she's been doing a great job, and a lot of the customers like her."

"You're right."

Ryan's answer made me feel a little confused, and I frowned at him, and he probably read my inquiry.

"But the most profitable place for her is you, Lena, and you're gone, aren't you, and she's useless."

For a moment, I didn't know how I should answer.

I admit that I have never liked bar work, but it does bring me income.

Now, however, because of my departure, Nina has also been implicated.

I felt like I couldn't breathe.

"And what would it take for you to agree to let Nina come back to work?"

Ryan raised one eyebrow: "This afternoon, some guests named you to accompany them, do this one, you can take the money and leave, and I will let Nina back to work, how about that? That's a good deal."

After a short silence, I nodded my head.

Of course, I don't regret that I agreed to Ryan's terms, but I still had the thought of running away when I saw the people in the box.

There is no way I can forget that night two days ago, the guest who made a pass at me. Although this had happened many times, that day had become a nightmare for me because of Raphael's presence.

The man's gaze fell on me, I could feel his burning eyes and his mouth was about to drop as I looked at him.

In response, I chose to pretend I didn't see it.

The table was so hot with a conversation, they were talking about things I couldn't understand, like women's breasts and men's asses, that I had no choice but to think of myself as an ornament.

And for that, men did not respect my ideas.

After I poured the wine for them, the man reached out and took my wrist in his hand.

Calm down, Lena, it's up to you to get Nina's job back.

I resisted the urge to withdraw my hand, looked up at the man, and tried to make a smile that should look okay.

The man's eyes were about to pop out.

I forced myself to smile, emptying my other hand to help the man pour the wine, this time, he suddenly reached out and handed a glass of wine to me.

"My treat."

I already had concerns about the man, the wine invitation in turn made me even more worried, but I still took the wine over.

The man's eyes were glued to mine like chewing gum, and he looked at me with great anticipation, which directly made my scalp tingle.

With resistance, I picked up my glass, took just a small sip, and put it down.

He seemed very pleased with this and came straight to my hand. This, however, made me even more worried.

I don't know how much time has passed, but suddenly I felt some blurring in front of my eyes, reached out to hold the wall, this vertigo came more intense.

I looked at the man, whose lips suddenly moved a few times, and he was staring at me with that naked and disgusting look in his eyes.

The dryness in my body made me realize that something was wrong, and I braced myself and bowed to the guests in the booth, "I'll go get the wine for you gentlemen."

But the men didn't let me out.

As I turned to leave, I suddenly felt someone hug me from behind. The man's touch made my heart sick, but my body reacted in an even stranger way.

He drugged me.

This knowledge made me tremble uncontrollably, I wanted to shout, wanted to let someone come to my rescue, but the sound was stuck in my throat, I could not make any sound.

The man's hands roamed my body, and it didn't seem to occur to him that I was wearing safety pants as he brushed past my thighs and touched my buttocks.

I heard him curse and tears slipped from the corners of my eyes.

It was only a matter of time before he violated it.

I do not know where to get the strength, maybe the desire to survive, struggling a few times after the man finally could not hold me. His companion saw this and was coming to help.

I had no other way back and picked up the wine on the table and smashed it towards the man's head.

The wine bottle was instantly broken and the wine inside flowed all over the floor.

The men were completely enraged, his head was covered in blood, I no longer had the strength to stand still, they pulled my hair, and several people held me down directly on the ground.

Someone slapped me in the face and cursed dirty words like "bitch" and "slut", I tasted the taste of blood in my mouth and shed tears uncontrollably.

Please, someone, no matter who, help me.

My inner cries were finally heard by God.

As I closed my eyes in despair, I heard the door of the compartment violently kick open.

When I opened my eyes and mirrors, I saw who the person who came to my rescue was.
