Chapter 4 Bring back the Past

We ate lunch, we just rested a bit and decided to join Kevin in the company, I was not needed but since he had just arrived here I gave in. I got in Kevin's car, Lucas wanted me to be there with Zeke but I refused, that one was just quiet, so why else?

"What just happened to Zeke You used to be close, if he used to treat you like a bride," Kevin began while driving.

"Dunno, why?" I don't feel like saying anything.

"Nothing, I just noticed. I didn't know he would treat you differently when he had a girlfriend," he said seriously. "But I heard ... Fionah and Zeke are separated," he added, stopping me from typing on the cell phone.

I didn't know he was separated or what because I had no news of his life. Lucas is the only person who often tells me stories about Zeke. So maybe he was always lethargic or quiet because of that, they were separated. But I wondered, who is breaking up? I know I can't afford to—

"Hey! Are you listening? You're an idiot," he said laughing.

I stared at it and then went back to what I was doing. I have nothing to say regarding Zeke's life. It's his life. I have my own.

"You still haven't changed," Kevin whispered then parked the car beside Zeke's car. I'm here again.

I just don t really see that woman again, sunburn. We went inside, many glancing at the four of us, I noticed the other women's eyebrows rising. If anything, I was next to three men. I was next to Kevin and Lucas who were purely chattering, while Zeke was in the back, I didn t know what he was doing because I couldn t see him. As far as the elevator is opened, I don't separate from Kevin and avoid Lucas even more because of the simple actions he makes to annoy me.

It opened where I saw the rude woman again, I noticed that Zeke's eyes hit but Zeke was the first to avoid. Pathetic! Instead of us sitting across from Zeke's table, he made us sit at his meeting table.

"Is it okay for you Annika to be here?" Kevin asked causing me to laugh softly.

"When were we here then you just asked that? Unbelievable," I replied then opened the laptop so I could do something.

"I'll just get some food—"

"Not Zeke anymore. Kevin and I will just get some food, so that he can be familiar with it," Lucas stopped so I looked at it. "Don't be scold Annika. This girl is really stubborn, tsk!"

I have done nothing. They are still older than me and I just maintain my pride. Somehow I still respect them.

"Annika?"

"Yes?"

We were both silenced. I didn't know that we were the only people in his office. The Arcus are really brainwashed.

I heard Zeke laugh, laugh that I had been looking for him for so long... for so long. I averted my gaze because I could feel the warmth of my cheek. This is how I read most books... The warmth of the cheek symbolizes... No! No! Maybe I was just shocked. Yeah! That's it! I was surprised.

He sat right across from me, he loosened his black necktie a bit, then put both arms on his knees. "How are you?" he asked me gently.

At first chances, I stared at him intently, his smile was enough for me to remember his past. Why do I feel like this? I'm scared, and still scaring for what may happen of him. I wanted to change Zeke then, very child-minded and not taking things seriously. Not until the unexpected came, when I returned, he was different. It's very different.

"Huh?" I asked as if conscious of my thoughts.

He glared at me and then nailed me. "How are you," he said laughing. "We haven't been able to talk properly for a long time, we're both busy in our own lives, so how are you? Are you okay?" a question that shook my knees.

What am I going to say? I'm okay? I'm not? Feel good? Or lost? Yeah. I think I'm lost.

"I'm okay, why did you ask?" my poor question then removed the laptop from the thigh and placed it on the table.

"Nothing. As if not, I still know you Nikasha," he said meaningfully. "We're just the two of us here, why don't we just talk like the old us. Old Zeke and Old Annika... Bring back those memories," his statement said seriously but with a smile.

I don't know why he's acting like that, I'm nervous because of the change in his attitude and mood.

"What do you mean?"

"I noticed that you're avoiding me. Every time we meet you avoid me. I don't know if I've done anything wrong to you before, I want to ask you, but you're the one making the way for me not to continue," his long litany.

Offensive. I was so struck by what he said, that is because, it is true. I didn't want to have a connection with him then, I just wanted to dislike everyone. I was about to give him a chance but he broke it.

You broke it Zeke.

"You have a girlfriend, it's normal for me to avoid. I'm aware of what we were when we were young, we still can't do those things while you have a girlfriend," I'll excuse but it's true. "I consider her feelings too. She's a woman, it's not normal that friends are sweeter than relationships," I corrected him with a smile.

I know he got my point. I don't need to elaborate that.

He shook his head. "Yeah. We're friends. Then let us start again," he said seriously and averted his eyes.

It's not that easy to be friends with him, I don't want him to do what he did to me before, then what? He will meet someone, avoid me again, and then like this again.

"Start again? Why?" I wonder. I can t get what he wants.

"Hmm, nothing. I'm just trying to bring back the past. The old us. Can we?"
