Chapter 2

"Today is going to be a bright day for me and I am happy to be alive to witness it," Isabel mumbled from the back yard with the bowl of water and had in her hands. She was done with the dishes and it was time for her to go feed the livestock which her parents kept in the back yard.

Life had not been rosy to her but with her mind always being happy without wanting to expect anything from others not to complain, she had made up her mind to always smile no matter the circumstance that she was faced with. All she wanted was to be able to further her studies in one of the best schools as well as to have a good life in the future and to make her late parents proud.

Her mood was always a happy one and she was looking problem-free all time.

"Isabel???" Mrs. June called out her name in a harsh tone and as soon as she gave attention to her mother's voice, she left everything that she was doing and ram off to meet with her.

Walking through the door and heading for the living room where her mother was, the welcome speech she had was the insults of her life which she had turned out to be used to.

"You ungrateful piece of trash, where have you been since morning, and have you forgotten that it is time for my husband to get his breakfast and to have his medicines?"

"I am sorry mother, I will do..." Isabel was cut short as Mrs. June screamed out,

"What did you just call me just now? I dare you to repeat it you dirty thing that I picked from the gutters," she spat out to her face, making Isabel feel like she was a lesser being and tears cropped up in her eyes. Not finding the strength to utter a word more, she just stood there like a lost soul not knowing what else to say or do hit the next shout from Mrs. June, brought her back to her senses as she jumped out of there in a hurry, with the kitchen being her only destination.

Her eyes could not hold back the tears that were flowing in them and with her heart beating brutally inside her chest, she knew that her day was going to start up like that because it is inevitable.

"I cannot believe that this lady can be so heartless to this poor and innocent young girl who does not look for anyone trouble," Mrs. Craig, one of Hall's neighbors, said and her daughter, that was jealous of Isabel because she was being regarded as the most beautiful girl in the whole neighborhood, twisted her mouth and responded,

"She deserves it and more. I wonder why most people love her though."

"Just go straight to the point and tell the reason why you detest Isabel, Lauren," Marco let out in anger, not being able to contain his sisters' unnecessary jealousy anymore and Lauren seeing that he was going to expose her, freaked out and wanting to use the big sister authority on Marco, it went wrong as he let the cat out of the bag by telling their mother what Lauren had been hiding.

Yes, she was jealous of Lauren because, despite her being maltreated by her parents, she was still always happy and the center of attraction to the men in the community but the most painful one is that, Laurens long time crush Daniel, was also having feelings for Isabel and not Lauren.

"How dare you?" Lauren spoke out in an uncontrollable rage but Marco, had already finished saying what he had on his mind and the exit was his location. Lauren was fuming with anger but it was useless to him because he was going to meet his friend who was none other than Isabel.

Going through the files on his table, Scott came across a particular name and he was amazed at how much they were owing to his father and him, it was crazy because he will never let such an amount go like that. Picking up the fixed phone on his desk and asking his Secretary to report herself in his office, he had a stained look that could make anyone pass out in fear.

"You called me Sir Carter," she spoke out in a trembling tone with the hopes that he has nothing to complain about and unfortunately for her, Scott always had a problem so she just has to get used to it.

"Who are these Mr. and Mrs. Hall?" he questioned and Melissa took a gulp, she informed him that they are one of the company's minor investors.

"So, can you explain to me why they are holding such debts?" he thundered with fire in his eyes.

"I am sorry Sir but the couple have been going through some rough moments, based on what Mrs. Hall explained to me and your father," she narrated what she knew but Scott was not pleased with it so he screamed out at her asking,

"They are going through rough times huh? Are they the only ones who go have troubles in the world?"

Melissa had no answers to give to him at that point, and in order not to make a mistake, the silence was the only way out.

"I think our new boss is going bunkers once more," one of the staff muttered and the other was scared for her life and job, she told her colleague not to talk about their boss again to her because her job was still very much important to her.

"Now, listen to me, I want the information of those couples and I want them to be in my office within the next sixty minutes. Am I understood?" Scott yelled out and Melissa nodded her head like a lizard she confirmed it and Scott sat back down on his seat, breathing as though he was taking a race.

"What are you still standing there for? Get out of my sight right now and go do what I asked you to do, you incompetent fool," Scott shrieked at his secretary, who left his office in confusion, to her deal with a shaky body.
