Chapter 4 LOST THEIR WAY BACK

The sun was shining brightly, emitting a warm and relaxing atmosphere among the sea of trees… The wind also blows in a mild circulation tussling the leaves from time to time.

Mystica, walking ahead, without bothering to cast a glance at the man trailing behind her. Her footsteps were small but kind of urgent as she followed her clues but after she reached the strange huge tree, the clues also ended. She halted in her tracks, tilting her head sideways to search for it very carefully.

"Where was it?" She grumbled to herself, frowning as she bent over on one knee, scrutinizing the thick fraction of grass along the little trail. "I'm perfectly sure that I left it here but where was it?" She continued to babble.

The man stared at her in confusion as he stepped closer towards her bending form. His shadow almost overcasted her entire demeanor but she wasn't paying attention to him. It was obvious that she's busy with something he hadn't known.

Since he followed her for almost a few hours, he didn't bother to enunciate a conversation with her and just remained silent along the way but he, himself, tried to memorize their trail from where they left earlier. It was kind of confusing as he was used to flapping his wings whenever he traveled but knowing that he wasn't able to shift, he uses his sharp memory for that.

He was born after all from the most renowned clan of dragons called the Cage Clan of the Aerouant kingdom. Known as the highest and superior type from the rank among royal bloodlines. Famous for having exceptional abilities that only circles through its generation after generation descendants. Thanks to his ancestors though, his life could never have been great since he was a child until now that he is fully grown up and is currently celebrating his bachelor years…

Wherever he goes, a lot of female dragons would always be there surrounding him, luring him to sleep with them. Be it at their Cage Empire or the Midnight Escape Club exclusively for royal blooded dragons, aroused smells from drakainas always lingered around him but he wasn't interested. Not even an ounce of arousal he felt inside. This might be the reason why he couldn't still find his mate even if he was always swarmed with different types of alluring shifters everyday. He only felt disgusted with their essence.

He was about to reach the age of 26 yet he failed to find his mate but he didn't mind. He believes that he would soon find her therefore he didn't need to rush. According to his elders, fated mates would come naturally just like how his elders got mated and binded by their traditional ceremony afterwards.

When it comes to finding their fated mates, dragons are the most sensitive creature in Mystical Realm. A single night of desire meant forever to them. It wasn't called a hopeless romance but called unfairness. Unlike werewolves, they couldn't reject the very first person that they slept with for the very first time because the dragon's mark would naturally appear after having a steamy session be it a drakaina or different types of shifters. In this case, choices are not negotiable rather the traditional union has to be made after that therefore, he always shows his aloofness and indifference towards any female creatures and the woman in front of him was no exception.

Drawing a line between them is what he wanted to emphasize their positions but right at the moment, he pushed his thoughts aside and inched closer to her to ask. "What's wrong?"

His form was towering above her thus she had to look up as she answered in a voice that lacked enthusiasm. Without beating around the bush, she honestly muttered, "...the clues I left yesterday vanished. The rain must have washed them out."

"You mean to say that we were lost?" He asked in a loud voice. It was apparent that he was annoyed.

She stood up, nodding her head. "We're definitely lost." She said as she circled around the huge trunk. "We can stop here if you're tired. This tree was big enough to shelter us from the sunlight." She added.

Suddenly there was a mild sound that rangs in the air…

Mystica halted in her tracks to listen to that delicate sound while her eyes darted to the unknown man. Taking his movements on her mind, her lips slowly stretched up, forming a slight smile. She was amused at how he managed to endure his hunger just to keep his distance from her through the entire time. If not for her sharp eyes, she would have failed to see right through him.

She caught him grimacing and clutching his stomach therefore, she assumed that he must have been starving since she wasn't able to offer him a meal the previous night and it was nearly time for lunch based on the sun's position.

Since she allowed him to go with her, he was her responsibility for the meantime and feeding him was part of it. Though she felt his hostility towards her, she didn't mind. She too also was irritated at him for some unknown reason thus they are in the same situation after all. They both felt nothing but coldness towards each other but that didn't mean that she would ignore him entirely after discovering that he was suffering in hunger.

Mystica displayed a cold look similar to his expression as she approached him. "Come on. Let's stop for a moment to eat." She said as she quickly detached her pouched cloth from her back, dropping it in the grass. "I'm starving and I assume you are as well." She then seated in front of his hovering form, opening the rest of her prepared meal.

"Have some." She offered while taking a small bite.

The man sighed deeply, taking the space across her. "What's this?" He asked curiously.

Darius was born lavishly and was used to eating fine meat in the form of steak during meals. His favorite was medium rare but when he looked at her so-called food in front of him, he couldn't help but frown in disgust. What she had in a piece of her container was a few pieces of green leaves. There's also two pieces of dried fish that didn't look appetizing at all. How was he supposed to eat those?

"These are called leafy vegetables." She mumbled while chewing nonchalantly then she pointed her finger to the two pieces of fish and added, "... they're not big but they're enough to sustain your hunger until we find our way home. Oh," she paused as she took another bundle from her pouch, saying, "...you can have this bread to satisfy your hunger as well."

Darius shut his eyes off thinking if he should accept what she offered in silence. He had eaten fish way back but it was freshly served from their owned restaurant fully deboned. Furthermore, it was different from what he saw right now. The one in front of him was causing his appetite to dissipate as it looked obviously thorny. What should he do?

"Must you be thinking that I was trying to poison you or you just don't like the food we have?" She muttered quizzically, hiding her displeasure within. "If you don't want the fish then I'll take it. You can eat the bread." She added.

"I'll take the… Bread." He finally groaned.

She handed over the bundle and went on eating, ignoring his reluctant expression.

She glanced at him from time to time though and according to her observation, he was forced to eat such a kind of food. It was then that she noticed how his appearance looked. She couldn't deny that he looked strikingly handsome and well off. His features are delicate, similar to a woman's but his build was manly. All in all, he was an eye catcher to any female creatures and she was no exception. She was mesmerized at how his skin seemed to appear smooth and flawless compared to hers but other than that, she felt nothing aside from feeling irritated at him.

"Stop stealing glances at me." He muttered coldly.

"Perhaps you finally changed your mind?" She mumbled raising her thickening eyebrows.

He paused from shoving a piece of bread into his mouth and stared at her. "Change about what?" He sounds genuinely curious at her question.

"Staying with me for a while." She groaned. "You seem not used to eating simple dishes, mister. I suggest you start going back and find your way home."

Darius was stunned upon hearing her blatant remarks. He didn't expect that she had been observing him in silence. He was surprised but her words were clear, she was trying to chase him away and it was kind of humiliating.

This was the first time that a female human tried to ridicule him. How dare she talk trash about him? His loathing towards her intensifies because of this but he covered it carefully as getting mad isn't the right time yet. He reminds himself that he has to be patient with her until he fully regains his strength.

Gritting his teeth, he said "I need to recover first. I won't stay for long, don't worry."

"Then you should train yourself. I don't like picky eater." She huffed.

"I will. You don't have to worry." He muttered coldly, narrowing down his eyes as he thought.

'I will definitely teach you a good lesson that you will never forget! Just wait and you will see!'
