CURSE MY FOOLISH MOUTH
Alpha Enrique watched as Licia's carriage approached the castle gates. His wolf acted strangely when he felt the carriage approaching, which puzzled him. Enrique had joked about wanting to marry, but he never expected the King to take him seriously.
Like most wolves, Enrique wanted to wait for his mate, but the war had kept him busy and he hadn't had the time to look for her. He was already 23 and feared that he would have to give up on ever meeting her because he was getting married to someone else.
However, Enrique understood what the King was trying to do; first he gave him a pack, then made him the Alpha, and now he was giving him a Luna. The King wanted him to settle down and get bound to this land, as he was his biggest asset.
"Screw it!" Alpha Enrique dismissed all the thoughts and murmured to himself, "It is just a marriage of convenience."
Inside the carriage, Licia was nervous and remembered Anna's instruction not to get out of the carriage until she had an escort. She decided to wait and drank a potion to make Bree, her wolf, sleep, so she wouldn't be able to transform.
She feared that Alpha Enrique would find out that she didn't have an Alpha wolf, which an Alpha's daughter should have.
Alpha Enrique was waiting for her to come out but when a minute passed and she wasn't getting out he wondered what was delaying her.
"Wait!" His eyes flared open in realisation, "Is she waiting for me to escort her?"
A smirk appeared on his handsome face as he said, "Hah! Already making me do all these works. How troublesome!"
Licia was a bundle of nerves inside the carriage, and her heart raced out of impatience when no one came to get her. She finally saw a tall, muscular figure with blonde hair and exquisite facial features make his way out of the castle door.
She knew he was the ruthless killer everyone had been talking about- Alpha Enrique of Ravenwood pack.
She clutched the hem of her dress nervously as he approached her. He stuck out his arm, and Licia held onto it as he helped her out of the carriage. Suddenly, she felt his grip tighten on her arm, causing her to welp, "Ahhh… Is- Is anything wrong, my Alpha?"
"Huh?" The man seemed dazed and lost in his own thoughts until she questioned him. Suddenly, he realized that he had clutched her a little too tightly and quickly loosened his grip. "I am sorry!" he said, before leading her inside the castle.
Enrique looked at her and furrowed his eyebrows. He thought to himself, "Was she this tall? When I saw her last time, she looked rather tiny and petite." He scanned her suspiciously but didn't say a word.
Images of Anna standing in the ballroom happily chatting with others flooded his mind. It was where he saw her for the first time and got himself into trouble by telling the king that he would marry Anna. He had said that under the influence of alcohol and infatuation. Little did he know that the king would remember it and get back at him.
"Curse my foolish mouth!" he thought to himself. He was not interested in settling down this soon, but since it was a direct order from the king himself, he couldn't do anything about it.
Alpha Enrique led her inside the castle, and it was awfully silent until he spoke up. "A brief wedding will be held tomorrow. As of now, you must be tired, so go and take a bath."
"A-a bath?" Licia asked, surprised.
"Yes!" the man replied, with the same animosity in his voice as he had while saying the previous sentence. "The servants must have prepared one for you." He then pointed at the room to their left. "There, the one with the lights on, is your room. Go there and do as you please."
Licia looked at the room and was about to say something, but before she could, the man dropped her hand, which he had been holding all this time, and walked away. She found him to be much colder than the rumors had suggested. It seemed that he too was being forced into this marriage by the king.
She sighed, realizing that married life wasn't going to be as easy as she thought. Licia walked into the room he showed her, and there was indeed a steamy bath prepared for her, just as he said.
Back in his own room, Alpha Enrique was unable to sleep. Lying on his bed, he stared at the ceiling, thinking about the girl who would be his Luna soon. What kept coming back to his mind was her unique scent, a scent of vanilla that was sweet and warm. He had been serving the king and fighting his battles for the past three years, so he had almost forgotten what a woman's scent was like, how enchanting it could be. Even if he had met a girl before, none of them had such a pleasant scent like hers.
His wolf was restless and was jumping around, wagging his tail and howling in happiness. The man tossed and turned but could not get her out of his head.
Finally, he gave up being stubborn and yanked his blanket. He took large strides towards her room and pushed the door open without warning. Licia, who was in the middle of unzipping her dress, stopped as soon as she saw him locking the door behind him.
He... why was he here?
