5. You look like me
Ronnie's POV
I was skidding along the streets with a smirk on my face as I remembered the look on my mum's face before I left. It's so easy to get to her. It had been a rough day for me but I always find joy when I am with mum, teasing her and making her go all red.
I arrived at the road where I would see a taxi that would take me to the new mall. I waited for a taxi while bringing my phone out from my dress and tried to call mum. I wanted to ask her if I should get us lunch on my way back as we hadn't eaten anything aside the lousy breakfast of bacon and eggs that doesn't count, because I still felt hungry the second I finished eating. I felt I should just mind link her instead but settled for the phone.
I think that was a dumb mistake I made because I should have seen the car coming and perhaps, moved out of the way before it gave me a good amount of shock.
The car screeched and stopped abruptly almost knocking me off my feet, while splashing a good amount of dirt and dust on my dress.
"Holy mother f*cker." I cursed under my breath as I began cleaning all the specks of dust I could lay my hands on.
From where I was standing, I could see the driver come out of the car instead of going. It was shocking because in this place where I live, if a driver almost knocks you down, he or she just movesalong like nothing happened. I was shocked this one came out and I could tell from her figure that it was a woman.
She came in front of me and stood hands akimbo.
I think she wants to confront me or so. I think I've had enough drama for today already.
"Hello, can't you at least move out of the road when walking like a lunatic? Drivers like me are having a hard time telling the difference between a tattered human and an animal." She yelled at me like a mad woman. So even the rich has no manners?
"Am sorry." I said still with my head down.
I heard her click her tongue and seem to be waiting for me to finish dusting my clothes so I had no other choice but lookup to her.
We both had this surprise in our eyes.
"Holy mother of sugars" she exclaimed wide-eyed.
"You look like me?" We both said in unison.
I've heard of people who did surgery to look like another. Twins switched at birth but never heard of someone from different families look much alike. What am I saying? She was the exact replica of me.
"How is this possible?" She asked me and I looked at her, my eyes asking her same question.
"Wait. Let me feel you. Are you even real?" She said you touching my face.
"Hey, cut the crap. Am a living being with blood and veins. What are you doing toigih me like some sicko?" I asked angrily.
"Am sorry, it's just so unbelievably awesome. How you look like me and all that." She said looking at me amusingly like I was some barbie doll on display.
"I should be asking you. Did you do some plastic surgery?" I asked her and she seemed offended.
"Why would I do that. Where are you goin'? I could drop you off. Although am on my way to the mall." She offered me.
I hesitated, then continud. "Ok, am also on my way to the mall." I said.
"Then hop on." She said and we both strode together to the car.
It was a nice car and very expensive at that. it made me wonder how rich could she be??
I thought I saw a strange glint flash through her eyes but only for a milli second.
"Ok, see. Am sorry I almost hit you but you've got to look around before standing on the road like that." She said sweetly while driving.
"Nah, no problem. At least I didn't get knocked down or injured." I said and smiled.
"Oh, forgive my manners. My name is Katie. Katie Rowlands." She said flashing me an expensive smile.
"Ronnie Corners." I said, returning the smile.
We drove to the mall engaging in small talks and all that. Just with the short time with her, I could see she was a proud lady. Although I was not complaining. It's not my concern. She kept on talking about how wealthy she is and all that gibberish stuff.
I kept stealing glances at her and vice versa. It was just so surprising finding someone like me.
When we arrived at the mall, I was thankful to her for the ride because she just made me reserve some cash. Also thankful because i won't have to listen to her talk on about how rich she was.
"Thanks for the ride, I really appreciate it." I said and made to leave.
"No. You met your guardian angel today." She said smiling.
"I indeed have." I smiled back.
"No. I don't mean that. Let's go in together and I can get you whatever you want. Your clothes seems a lot cheap and it's not fit for your skin at all." She said.
I felt insulted. Did she know how I managed to afford the money to get this cloth? I don't blame her though. She seemed to be living in money. With her straight short black hair that seemed to shine in the sun. Her velvet tank top, her heels is another part of the topic. Her skin seemed soft like a baby. She can easily fit for a model.
I smiled at her sarcastically. "don't worry about me. I love wearing these cheap clothings." I said and stormed off the car without looking back to notice the shock on her face.
Katie's POV
"Thanks for the ride, I really appreciate it." She said and made to leave. I have to show my most friendly mode.
"No. You met your guardian angel today." I said smiling and hoping she'd smile back.
"I indeed have." She said and smiled back.
"No. I don't mean that. Let's go in together and I can get you whatever you want. Your clothes seems a lot cheap and it's not fit for your skin at all." She said and saw a look of hurt in her eyes. Did I say something wrong??
I felt her access me with a look of admiration and I seemed proud of my looks.
She smiled at me as if she was mocking me or telling me something I couldn't understand or fathom.
"Don't worry about me. I love wearing these cheap clothings." She said and got off the car before I could mutter a word. I think I hurt her.
Oh well, am Katie Rowlands. And Rowlands don't apologize or care about what people think of them.
That's what I've always done.
