5. Special day
Ronnie walked back to her room and lay down on the bed. Just then, King Damon came inside the room. She stood up from the bed and bowed to him.
"What brings you to my room, your majesty," she said, partly hoping he'd leave as soon as he came.
He paused for a moment and looked at her. " Strip" he said.
"What" she asked, utterly shocked.
"You heard me, strip." He ordered
"No, why would I do that" she said, scared.
"Because I asked you to" he said again.
"But why would you tell me to strip? Did I do something wrong?" She asked again.
He looked at her and growled. She looked up at his eyes and found them out of color. She knew he had brown eyes, but why were they red now? And his voice seemed much more huskier than before. Now it scared the living daylight out of her. She had seen a warewolf change and she didn't think she was ever going to get used to it. Katie tried changing in front of her but that wasn't a good experience.
"Katie, what...on...earth..."I stammered.
She would look strangely at me and change back.
"Ronnie, when would you ever get used to this? It's the fifth time I've tried shapeshifting in front of you but you still seem to be in shock" she complained,
"Sorry, I just can't get used to it, but I'll try to adapt"I said, still a little scared.
"It's because you're not a wolf. That's why you're always scared when you see one. Actually, you're supposed to be stronger than the rest of us, but I don't get it, you are still too weak" she whined.
"Ummmm.... Your highness, are you OK?" She asked
He looked at her for a while and his eyes went back to their normal color. He backed her up and slammed the door as he went out of her room.
She sighed and sat down on the bed. "Phew... That was close." She whispered, clutching the bedsheet towards her chest.
Ronnie's POV
It's been almost two weeks now and I haven't really seen the king. It was more like I was avoiding him and it was such a relief though he didn't notice or ask me. I wouldn't know how to face him if I even saw him. Staying in the palace is something I enjoy doing most. When I am not in my room, I am either in the garden admiring the view, or practicing my magic. I seem better at it now. I could cast quite a few spells and it was wonderful.
Although the palace seems lonely at times, I have got Milla who keeps me company, but she only comes once in a while. She promised to come today as it was my special day.
"What special day?" I asked.
"You don't know?" She asked, bewildered.
"I have no idea of what you're talking about" I had replied, totally stunned.
She seemed lost in thought for a while before looking at me and smiling. "Maybe he didn't tell you due to a reason best known to him." She replied.
"I don't think so" I said.
"Don't worry, I am sure the king has a reason why he hasn't told you about the special day. I guess you'll find out sooner or later." She said. But I didn't understand what she was saying. What special day?
I walked towards the Palace Garden to get some fresh air. I was busy thinking of what's special about today and didn't realise when I bumped into a hard rock chest. I looked up and realised it was the king. I didn't know what gave me the audacity or maybe I wanted a little fun, since the castle was boring for the past few weeks with nothing to interest me.
"Ouch... My head" I winced in fake pain.
"You do realise I didn't hurt you, right?" He said, looking at me amusingly, and I looked at it.
"Oww... It just hurts Damon" I said, and covered my mouth with my palm as I realised I had just called the king by his name.
"Sorry your majesty" I said, although I had a feeling he wouldn't punish me.
"Why are you trying to act all cute?" he asked.
"Umm... You see..." I said, utterly shocked because, for a second, I thought he was going to punish me for calling him by his name.
"First, why are you stutering?" He asked me.
"Ummm... Nothing really, just .... Wa..nted to" I said and couldn't complete my speech as he held his hand to hinder me from continuing my speech.
"Don't bother telling me because I don't care," he said harshly.
"Oh, I understand" I said
"Now, lastly, don't ever call me by my name," he said.
"Ummm... Sorry about that, it's just a slip of the tongue. I just thought you were going to punish me or something of the sort." I said, smiling. "And about what happened the last time... I was hoping you'd tell me..." I began, but King Damon raised his hand to stop me from talking.
"Nothing to talk about there because nothing happened. Listen and I'd only say it once. Am only being nice because Alan chose you to be the queen till I find my mate. And am ascending the throne and you'd be crowned queen. So please don't make me mad if you want to ever be safe and avoid being on my bad side." He warned me.
I gulped and looked at him. I thought the mood around here was a good one. Oh, who am I kidding? He's just like a chameleon, changing his mood at the slightest provocation.
"Umm... Mind if I ask you a question, your majesty?" I asked because I couldn't contain my curiosity any longer.
"Go on, but be brief, as I have the shortest time" he replied.
I smiled and made a bold face. "What's happening today? I mean is anything specific or special happening today?" I asked, hoping he'd answer me.
"As a matter of fact, there is absolutely something special today, we're getting married" he declared.
