AJA
“My name is Calian Skywolf” he said, his voice a little softer.
“Are you able to speak, do you understand what we are saying clearly?” he said, Aja nodded again. She couldn’t help looking up at him, she had this urge to see his face.
His eyes were different now, they were hazel with grey specs around the edges and then were focused on her. His gaze was so intense, she felt hot all over. It was too much for her; she had to look back down at his feet.
“I-I need to ask you some questions…..and you need to answer as best you can, okay?” he said. Aja nodded again, she heard him sigh heavily.
“What pack are you from, do you have a pack?” he asked, Aja shook her head.
“What were you doing in the mountains?” he asked
Aja took a second and then cleared her throat before she said “I...l-live there”
There was a pause then he asked her “You live in the hills, by yourself?” Aja nodded
“For how long?” he asked softly.
“A few months,” she said
“And before that, where did you live?” Aja didn't want to explain, it would just encourage more questions. She felt her eyes water again, she shook her head.
Yamiel tried to comfort her by squeezing her hand, “It’s okay” she said.
“I-I...just...lived on my own, please don’t ask anything else” Aja said as tears ran down her face.
“If you don’t have a home, you can just stay here” Yamiel said.
Aja looked up suddenly,
‘Are they going to try and force me? I don’t want to be a prisoner!
“NO!, I’ll go back to the woods,” she said while looking at her. But realized Yamiel and Calian were staring at each other like they were having a stare-off.
“Please!” Aja said, “I won’t be any trouble, I won't bother anyone !” she tried again. She looked between them and then noticed Calian shake his head slightly and then sigh loudly.
Yamiel looked back at her “Aja, I know you are comfortable living on your own but a wolf needs a pack. You can live with me for a while, and have a warm place to stay, okay?” she smiled at Aja trying to reassure her.
No, this has to be a trap, they want something. But what could I possibly offer them, I have nothing. I just wanted to be free. Alone on my own, where nobody can hurt me’ Aja shook her head as tears fell down her cheeks.
“Look, you aren’t safe on your own. I don’t know how you lived like that without being noticed but werewolves hunt and travel through those woods. It’s only a matter of time before you get caught again, and the people that find you might not be as welcoming. So stay here for a while, see how it goes, if you don’t feel happy here then, by all means, leave” said Calian then he turned around and walked out the door.
“I promise it's going to be just fine, I have my own house and I have a spare room. How about I get you some clothes and then I can show you where you will be staying, okay?” Yamiel quickly walked out of the room and left Aja to be alone with her thoughts.
‘Maybe I should leave now that I’m alone. Right? I mean I shouldn’t trust anyone’s word after…...no, let's not think about that.’
Aja got up from the bed slowly and walked over to the wooden door, she placed her head against it. She listened for any noise from the other side of the door but could not make anything out. She slowly turned the doorknob quietly, opened it just a crack, and took a peek outside. Her breath caught in her throat and her eyes got wide as she saw all the people walking through the hallway.
‘Wow, that's a lot of people”
She closed the door and walked back to the bed and took a seat.
‘What should I do?’
“Nikita? Are you there?”, she reached out to her wolf but didn’t get a response, Aja started to panic.
‘What did they do to her!?”
“Nikita! Can you hear me?’. Tears filled her eyes when she didn’t get a response.
At that moment Yamiel came back into the room with some clothes and a pair of shoes in her hands making Aja jump at her sudden entrance into the room.
“It’s just me bringing some clothes for you” she stopped when she noticed Aja’s red eyes.
“What's wrong?” she came up to her placing her hand on her cheek.
“My wolf...she isn’t talking,” Aja said between sobs.
“Oh! no, no, don’t worry honey, she is just sleeping, When they brought you in I had to sedate you. It was just in case you shifted randomly while I tended to your wound.” She saw the panic in Aja’s eyes and quickly spoke before she freaked out anymore “It doesn’t harm her, It just makes her go to sleep for a while, she should be up and good to go in a couple of hours, don’t worry okay?”
Aja nodded her head while she took a deep breath to calm herself down.
Yamiel handed Aja the clothes and told her to change out of the hospital gown so they could leave the hospital.
“I didn’t know what size shoes you are, but these are my nieces so for now put those on. I will be right outside that door so come out when you are done, okay?” she walked towards the door and gave her a reassuring smile before leaving the room.
Aja started to put the clothes on as soon as Yamiel closed the door. The sky-blue long sleeve midi-dress was loose fitting, which she appreciated since she didn't have any underwear and the material was thick so her nipples didn’t show through. She wished the dress had come down below her knees at least, showing her body made her uncomfortable. She finally put on the black sandals and walked out of the room. Aja walked over to Yamiel sitting in the waiting room she was talking to a young man. Aja noticed it was one of the guys who came into the room with the Alpha earlier.
Yamiel quickly stood up when she noticed Aja and grabbed her hand. The guy next to her also got up and smiled at Aja. He looked young, his facial features similar to the Alpha’s. Although his eyes were amber colored and had dark brown dreads in a long ponytail that went down to his back. His staring made her uneasy, even if he was smiling, she looked away from him. Yamiel could sense her distress and introduced the young man.
