Chapter 1

Athena's Point of View

Life as a hunter has never been so simple for me. I had to keep everyone safe from the evil creatures, including vampires. I don't care if I have to risk my life any longer because I have dedicated my life to protecting mankind from the hands of evil.

I was walking down a city hallway, wandering around the street, getting ready to start my hunt against the evil creatures. It was already the middle of the night, which is when vampires usually appear to catch their prey. I was armed with bows and arrows, ready to kill a vampire.

However, something behind my back caused me to stop walking. I was trying to observe my surroundings, and if anyone dared to touch me, they would probably be dead.

“I'm aware you are there. Show your face to me, and I will make sure to end your life in a split second,” I said, my heart pounding. But then, I feel something on my neck, even a strand of my hair stands on both ends. When I turned around, there was no one there. Someone must have dared to kiss my neck. I could sense it!

And, by the way, I already know who does that. My senses must not be mistaken about that. He's not showing his face to me— yet I already know who he was. The same scent who kept following me from my missions.

“I was glad to see you there, my Lady,” said the notorious demon vampire king, finally showing his face. When I saw the demon vampire king's face, I was filled with rage. I hadn't expected to see him here.

“What kept you following me, Arius? I've told you several times to stop following me! You should not interfere with my hunting!” Because of this jerk, my blood began to boil as I uttered those words. He didn't seem to care about what I said. He just kept moving in his direction until I noticed something. And there was a vampire behind him, I dispatched it with my bow and arrow. Arius appeared stunned as a result of what I did, so he used his vampire speed to reach me.

My life had fallen apart. Because of what this vampire king was doing to me, I couldn't move my legs, hands, or lips. His grip on my waist was tight.

“I've told you many times, Athena, that you are mine. Why don't you accept me and swear you'll be safe for the rest of your life? No one can hurt you,” I could almost feel my jaw drop to the ground as a result of what this vampire king had told me.

I work as a vampire hunter. I should slay this demon vampire king right in front of me for constantly bothering me while I was on a mission. This is not the first time Arius has bothered me. He insisted on claiming me. He refuses to let go of me, and I wanted to kill him right now. His attractiveness, however. His attractive face and appeal prevent me from doing so.

The charismatic appearance of this vampire king caused me to stop killing him, and it appeared that I no longer felt like a hunter. His presence should have no effect on me.

“You like me, don't you?” he said quietly.

It was after I had returned from my deep thoughts. I pushed him away and pointed my weapon at him, my teeth clenched in rage. My gaze was fixed on him.

“If you want to avoid being killed, don't come near me, Arius!” I forewarned him. But all he does is smirk. I simply shook my head and turned away. I would rather not waste time chatting with this demon vampire king. He was only trying to divert my attention away from the real reason I was on the street.

“Help!”

When I heard someone screaming, I immediately stopped walking and ran to where the voice was coming from. When I saw a female, my vision darkened, and she was about to be killed by the vampire when I killed him. When the vampire vanished, the woman bolted away from me, a terrified expression on her face. As a result, a deep breath escaped my throat. When I turned my head to the back, I discovered the vampire king was already there. He slammed me against the wall, pinning my hands above my head.

While my gaze was on him, my chest was already bouncing with nervousness. Arius was following me and didn't want to let me go until he got what he wanted from me.

“You can't hide from me forever, Athena,” he said. “I was born to pester you in every hunting opportunity you had until you gave in to my arms.”

My heart was racing after hearing the vampire king's words. I'm not sure what I've been feeling right now. This is not tolerable. This should not be happening to me. But everything falls apart because of this vampire king. I once pushed him away, causing Arius to let go of me.

“I'm telling you, Arius, leave me alone. Don't sit around waiting for me to kill you. But don't worry because if we cross paths again, I'll kill you like I did your kind. There are no exceptions. You are the most notorious demon vampire king, and killing you would be one of my greatest achievements,” I said, but the vampire king simply crossed his arms and stared at me. He was also grinning as if he weren't bothered by what I said, so I simply turned my body away.

His face kept flashing through my mind as I walked down the street. I became irritated and kept pushing myself to remove his memories from my mind. I must not let him manipulate me.

I stopped walking again when I felt someone following me, so I turned around. But then I discovered that it wasn't Arius who had followed me. So, I couldn't stop wondering.

Who exactly is he?
