Chapter 2 Be Better Than Her Mother

Gianni Chapman, who was standing behind Chloe, said furiously, "B*stard! What are you talking about?"

Clarissa sneered, "I'm telling the truth."

She really didn't expect that the woman with Elliot would be Lara.

She just thought that Elliot betrayed her, and she was so angry, so she came up with this trick to embarrass him and relieve her hatred.

Unexpectedly, she suffered two blows in a row. Not only did her fiance cheat on her, but her half-sister also betrayed her. Lara was the daughter of her step-mother.

How ridiculous it was!

"How dare you!"

Chloe was so angry that she raised her crutch and was about to hit Clarissa. Lena Chapman stopped Chloe in a hurry.

"Mom, calm down. Don't be angry and get sick."

Then, she turned around and persuaded Clarissa, "Don't be angry with your grandma anymore. This is Lara's fault. You can beat or scold her as you like. But your grandma is old. Listen to me and be obedient. Don't talk back to your grandma, okay?"

She looked so gentle and sensible. Those who didn't know her must think that she was a kind woman.

Clarissa sneered mockingly.

Seeing her like this, her father, Gianni, became angrier and angrier.

"Are you very proud now? Your sister and your fiance are arrested by the police because of you, and you shame our family together with the Duncan family! Do you still know what your surname is?

"Your sister is an actor. How can she face others in the future? How about her career in the entertainment circle? How can we face the Duncan family in the future? Have you thought about these?"

Clarissa looked at him indifferently, "So, that's what you only care about?"

Gianni was stunned.

"They betray me, but you blame me here? Then what do you want me to do to them? Do you want me to ignore their behaviors? Or do you want me to wish them happiness magnanimously?"

Gianni had no way to refute her. He paused for two seconds before he straightened his neck and said angrily, "Since you don't have the ability to keep Elliot by your side, why do you blame Lara? If you are attractive enough, how could Elliot abandon you and fall in love with Lara? You don't reflect yourself, but you blame Lara! What's the difference between you and your useless mother?"

Clarissa was so shocked.

Looking at her stern father, she couldn't believe what she had heard.

Five years ago, Gianni cheated on her mother and Lena came to their house with Lara. Only then did she know that she had a younger sister who was only six months younger than her.

Her mother couldn't bear such a blow and drove into the river. The car was ruined and she died.

The Chapman family was afraid that she would make trouble, so they sent her abroad and never cared about her.

If it weren't for the small heritage left by her mother, she would have died abroad a long time ago.

She always knew that her father and grandmother didn't like her mother, but she didn't expect that they would slander her mother like this after her mother died.

She felt a chill run down her spine. After a while, she laughed sarcastically.

"Yes! I am indeed useless, because I don't have a mother who used to be a mistress. I can't inherit the skill of seducing men. Now I know that Lara knows how to seduce a man better than her mother."

Lena's face turned pale immediately.

Gianni flew into a rage, "What nonsense are you talking about?"

"You know what I'm talking about!"

"How dare you!"

"Stop!"

Chloe suddenly shouted in a loud voice. Gianni was so angry that he wanted to say something more, but Lena pulled his arm and stopped him.

As soon as Gianni looked up, he saw Conner Duncan walking out of the interrogation room with Elliot and Lara.

Conner's face looked a little mad, and Elliot and Lara were both unhappy.

Lara held Elliot's arm tightly. Her delicate face was full of grievances, and her eyes were red from crying. She looked so pitiful.

A group of people immediately rushed forward and asked her with great concern, "Lara! Are you all right?"

Lara shook her head and said in a muffled voice, "I'm fine."

After that, she looked up at Clarissa who was standing behind the crowd.

"Clarissa."

She called Clarissa softly and stepped forward, looking at her with guilt and sadness.

"I'm sorry. I didn't expect that you would come... Elliot and I... didn't mean to do that. Please forgive us!"

Clarissa looked at her coldly with no expression on her face.

Conner sighed and stepped forward, saying, "It's all Elliot's fault, but it has happened and we can't change this fact. If you need any compensation, just say it. We will definitely satisfy you."

Clarissa sneered, "Compensation? Are you trying to shut me up with money?"

Conner's expression changed, and a sense of guilt flashed across his eyes.

He turned back and glared at Elliot, shouting angrily, "B*stard! Look at what you've done! Come and explain yourself!"

Elliot didn't want to talk to Clarissa and glanced at her. But he had no choice but to walk to Clarissa under the pressure of his father's authority.

"Clarissa, we're not suitable for each other. Let's renounce the engagement!"

Clarissa was stunned.

She felt a dull pain in her heart, as if her heart had been cut by a blunt knife.

She had known the result, but when she heard what he said, she couldn't help but feel sad and cold in her heart.

She looked at Elliot and smiled. There were tears in her eyes.

"Elliot, how long have we been together?"

"Six years."

Six years? How ridiculous!

She didn't expect that his betrayal was all she got after six years.

She saw him cheat on her with her own eyes. After that, he didn't feel guilty, didn't get her back and didn't apologize. He only wanted to break off their engagement apathetically.

Clarissa's heart broken. She smiled sarcastically and said without any hesitation, "Okay, I promise you."

Elliot was stunned. He was a little surprised by her decisiveness.

He frowned slightly and looked at her suspiciously, "Are you serious?"

"Yeah, but I want you to give me the three constituent companies that the Duncan Group has just purchased as my compensation!"

"What? Are you insane?"

Before Conner and Elliot could speak, Gianni shouted anxiously.

Clarissa glanced at him coldly, "Lara hasn't married into the Duncan family yet. Why do you think about the interests of the Duncan family so anxiously? You're too greedy."

"How dare you!"

"That's enough."

Conner raised his hand, interrupted Gianni's words and looked at Clarissa calmly.

"I promise you. When you bring the other half of the marriage contract to me, I will have the companies transferred into your name."

"No problem."

Conner left with his lawyer. Gianni glared at Clarissa angrily. Then he and Lena helped Chloe leave.

In the empty corridor, only Clarissa, Elliot and Lara were left.

Clarissa didn't want to talk to them anymore, so she turned around and walked out with a cold face. However, Lara's anxious voice came from behind her.

"Clarissa!"

The next second, Lara stopped her.

Lara's face was full of tears. She grabbed Clarissa's arm and said in a trembling voice, "Clarissa, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to like Elliot. Please don't be angry with us. It's all my fault. If you want to vent your anger, just beat and curse me!"
