Chapter 2 - Kill or Die (II)

Kill or Die (II)

There was a loud noise from the gun shot and the air shattered. The bullet tore through space and left the people present on the streets to scream and flee for safety. Everyone feared for their dear lives.

There was shock written on their faces as the night had been quiet before the piercing loud sound of the shot which interrupted them and left them in frenzy mode.

Even the target who was unaware before had turned his face to the direction where the sound came from. His bodyguard stood in front of him now, becoming more aware of his job as he saw that he had failed in detecting that his master was almost endangered just a few seconds ago.

They saw two men standing some metres away from them struggling with a gun.

" Aaargh!" The assassin bellowed, angry that his mission had been foiled. He was still struggling with the gun trying to get it away from the intruder's grip to finish what he started but the young man's grip was very tight against his.

Adrian knew that he had to act really smart and real quick now otherwise, hell would let loose.

He grabbed the gun very swiftly from the man's grip before another shot was fired, this time mistakenly. The gun fell off both of their hands and crashed into the ground.

Adrian then gave him a kick that sent him charging violently towards the ground.

'Seems like his martial arts would pay off now' he thought as he stared at the man who was cussing under his breath.

" What the hell is going on?" Brian Bradford, the one who was supposed to be dead now asked no one in particular.

' The threat!' he knew it, it was the threat. The one who had plotted to kill him and had been sending various death- threat messages must have started his work already. He wasn't in the least shocked.

This wasn't his first time getting such threats, wasn't the second and he was certain it wasn't going to be the last one either.

" Someone call the cops!" A person yelled from across the streets as some of them were now crawling out from their hiding. The hot delivery guy had saved the day.

With his hood now away from his face, Adrian could see him clearly. He had a scar on his face and his eyes, they looked hardened. He looked haggard and it seemed like he was a druggie.

Adrian followed his eyes, they were still on the gun that was laying silently yet dangerously on the ground few inches away from them.

Crawling, he tried to rush to grab the gun but Adrian was faster than he was. He stepped on the hands of the assassin with his sneakers leaving him to yelp and grimace in pain as it felt as though his bones were broken.

He couldn't take any chances and he gave the man another kick to lift him up off the ground.

Brian watched in awe as the young stranger was fighting his supposed killer. It hadn't dawned on him before, but he saw that he had just been saved. His bodyguard wanted to drive him off, away from the scene but he stopped him.

Everyone cheered the delivery guy, he had been quick to stop blood from spilling. The girls shouted in excitement the most. Not only was he handsome, he was strong and agile. The perfect kind of prince charming that could definitely save his damsel in distress.

Suddenly the red alert ' nee-naw' sound of the police siren was heard in the distance. They had already been informed about the attempted murder that took place that night.

Dragging the man up to his feet, Adrian handed him over to the cops and answered all of their questions thrown at him. He noticed the man who was targeted walking towards them.

" You saved me," Brian says to him, tapping his shoulder softly.

" Thank you" He didn't know how to thank him enough. Adrian bowed his head slightly to the older man and excused himself. His job was done here, the cops would handle the rest. He couldn't go to the studio anymore so instead, he made to go home to his old parents.

Brian's attention was on the assassin, he watched as the police handcuffed the rugged looking man who tried to kill him.

Staring deeply at the face of the man which looked very rough and had a scar, he thought to see if he had met him anywhere before but his memory was blank.

He wondered who sent him and was grateful that this killer didn't get away like the others. He would be able to get a lead on who the real mastermind was this time around.

" Good evening Mr. Bradford" one of the police greeted the rich CEO respectfully. He had been tipped that a very prominent person was in danger.

" We heard of an attempted murder case and had to rush down here"

" The young gentleman did really well. He saved my life." Brian said to them but soon noticed that the young man wasn't by his side anymore. He had left and he wanted to talk to him. He motioned on his bodyguard to run after him and hand him his card.

Rushing to meet him, the bodyguard saw that he had already mounted on his motorcycle and sped off into the dark of the night.

All of a sudden, the street that was formerly quiet was now bustling. People were coming out to the scene to watch the police take the assassin into their car for questioning.

With no exception, flashes of lights and clicks of cameras were heard too. Reporters had come to cover the scoop. It was newsworthy, the popular CEO of the Bradford industry was almost murdered.

The bodyguard stopped the reporters from coming close to his boss as they were pushing against one another wanting to interview him.

He led his master to the SUV, opened the door for him and stood protectively. Who knows, there might be another assassin in the crowd that had just formed.

Closing the door shut, he got into the driver's seat and sped off.
