Chapter 3

ARIEL~~~~

"Ariel! Ariel!! Ariel!!!"

The banging on my door was becoming unbearable but the sound of my name getting yelled non-stop made it even worse.

"Ugh! What's wrong?" I groaned as I tossed around on my bed.

"Open this door right this instant!" the shrill feminine voice yelled as whoever it was twisted my doorknob aggressively.

I was too groggy from just waking up but I soon recognized the owner of the voice. It couldn't be anyone else. "Roseline?"

Roseline is my best friend, we grew up together and have been really close since childhood. Since we were both single children to the two strongest people in the pack, the Alpha, Darrell Klaus, who is my father and his Beta, Alfred Cage, who is her father. We naturally gravitated towards each other and we've been inseparable since.

"No shit! Open the fucking door!" she yelled.

"Hold on a second!" I yelled back as I scrambled off the bed. "I'm on my way!"

She flung the door open the second I unlocked it, almost hitting me in the face if I hadn't jumped backwards with my quick reflexes.

"What the fu-" I was about to say when my eyes met hers. I swallowed my words at the sight in front of me.

She was a complete mess.

Messy black hair, eyes which are red and swollen from crying, black eye bags, running mascara, and a tear-filled face. Her normally blue eyes were an orange colour which was the colour of her wolf's eyes. She was also still dressed in her pyjamas. She was a shadow of herself. Like something out of a horror movie only that this was real.

I was dumbfounded for a good minute as I just stared at the mess in front of me.

"What the hell happened to you?" I managed to say.

"Carl did this!" she yelled as she stormed into my room, still crying as she sat on my bed. "Carl freaking did this to me!"

"That's impossible," I said as I sat beside her and consoled her with a hug. "He might be a male but he's nowhere as strong as you are."

"He didn't hit me," she said softly as she sobbed into my arms. "He broke up with me this morning. Over a freaking text!"

"What?" I asked, surprised. "How did that happen? Did anything happen between you two?"

"Here," she said handing me her phone. "That was the stupid reason he gave for breaking up with me!"

I checked the text and it read;

"It's over, Roseline. I can't do this anymore. I've tried my best to understand you and hope you'll get better but all I can see is you getting worse. The girl assaulted yesterday was my cousin and you almost killed her. She's still in a coma even now. You've hurt my sisters, my mother, my friends and even me. I'm done. I don't want anything to do with you from now on. Don't bother trying to find me because, at the time of sending you this text, I already moved away from the pack. Trust me, you are never gonna find me. I sincerely hope no one ends up in your claws ever again. I wish you the worst, Roseline."

"I swear I'm gonna kill him!" she sobbed. "He had the guts to wish me the worst."

I was lost for words after reading the text. I expected a little dominance from Roseline since she's the kind to claim dominance but I would have never guessed any of this happening.

"Roseline," I said. "Did you actually almost kill his cousin?"

"I don't know who the hell his cousin was!" she sobbed as she leaned on my shoulder. "I saw a girl who I couldn't recognize hugging him and I taught her a lesson. That was all I did."

"Why would you do that?" I asked as I facepalmed. "If you didn't know who she was, why didn't you ask him?"

"He would lie," she replied. "He wouldn't tell me who she actually was because he was cheating!"

"Who in their right mind would cheat on you, Roseline?" I asked.

She lifted her head from my shoulder and the sobbing stopped for a second. "What's that supposed to mean?"

"I mean you are beautiful, smart and strong," I replied. "No one in their right mind would cheat on a girl like you."

"But they do," she replied. "Not everyone is like Asher."

"You didn't have to hurt her though," I sighed. "He said she's still in a coma."

"I'll kill her if I find her," she said as she laid back on my shoulder and continued sobbing. "I'll kill his whole family until I find him and when I do, I'll brutally molest him before killing him!"

"Let's put the violent thoughts aside, Roseline," I sighed as I patted her back. "You would do no such thing to anybody."

"How dare he?!"

"It's okay," I consoled her. "It's okay to be sad but please don't be violent about this."

"I can't live without him," she wailed. "I love him."

"You will be just fine without him," I said. "You were fine before he came along."

"He is such a scum!" she hissed, then said in a softer tone. "But I love him."

"Let's hold back on calling him names," I said, considering it unjust to call him names after the text I just read.

A knock on the door distracted us from the moment as I turned my attention to the door.

"Who is it?"

"Denise, ma'am," the voice answered and opened the door.

Denise is my personal attendant. She had been with me from a young age and we grew up together as she was just a year older than I am. We grew up to become more like friends instead of the royalty and attendant relationship.

She is a tall, blond beauty with rare green eyes which are coincidentally the same colour as her wolf's eyes so it's almost impossible to tell her emotion since the wolf eyes which become visible in times of intense emotion can't be told apart from her normal eye colour. She's 5'9, with long elegant legs which I usually get jealous of. Her usual maid uniform does a good job of exposing them also.

She gave her Roseline a stare of irritation as she entered, looking her up and down.

"What are you looking at?!" Roseline growled.

"Nothing important," she said and looked over at me. She and Roseline have never been on good terms with each other from childhood as they both hate the other's guts. I've been both the bridge and the wall connecting these two as they probably would have killed each other by now if it wasn't for me.

"What is the problem, Denise?" I asked, trying to resolve the tension as usual.

"You have been summoned by the king, Alpha Darrell," she said. "He demands your presence immediately."

"Do you think it could wait?" I asked gesturing to Roseline. " She's going through a painful breakup."

"I don't think that's important enough to make the king wait," she insisted. "Besides, the breakup would definitely be her fault so why is she disturbing the whole pack with her wails? I could hear her yelling from a mile away. She should at least show some respect to the king and queen."

"What did you say?!" Roseline asked as she stood up threateningly, but Denise didn't even flinch.

"Fine!" I yelled before things got any worse. "Take me to my father."

"As you wish," Denise replied, but not before giving Roseline one last stink eye before walking ahead of me.

She led me in silence as we made our way to the throne room where my dad was seated along with my mom. He smiled as the door opened to let me in, followed by a sigh.

"You're still in your pyjamas?" my mother, Alia Klaus asked. "How many times have I told you that ladies shouldn't be waking up at 10:30 in the morning? Especially not a princess like you. The other females of the kingdom should be able to learn from you, and you're not being a good influence right now."

"Just let her be," my dad said as he gestured for me to sit. "Have a seat, sweetheart."

"Sorry, mom," I apologized as I plopped into the closest chair available.

"You say that every day," she replied. "And why do you have a stain on your pyjamas?"

"Oh, Roseline is going through a breakup and she's been crying non-stop on my shoulder."

"Now, I know the source of the noise this morning," my dad laughed. "That girl is just as loud as her father."

"Why did you call for me?" I asked. "I have to hurry and get back to her before she trashes my room. She's a pretty violent sulker."

"Okay then, I'll cut to the chase," he cleared his throat. "We've been in talks with the Moon pack in the North to end the age-long war between us, and we finally came to an agreement."

"Oh, that's great," I smiled. "How does that concern me though?"

"That's because you're the most integral factor of the alliance."

I paused in confusion for a few seconds. "Why.....?"

My father sighed before replying. "You'll be getting married to the son of the Moon Pack's Alpha."
