Is this the afterlife?

Chapter 2

Lilith’s POV

"What kind of afterlife is this?" I asked myself as I took in the scattered books everywhere and the heaps of clothes that stood on the couch close to the bed I just awoke on.

My eyes widened in surprise when I looked down at myself expecting to see the blue blood stained dress I had worn earlier but instead saw myself clad in a black tank top and a green biker’s shorts.

“What the hell was happening here?” I questioned, looking around me and slapping at my body in order to feel some sort of pain but I felt nothing.

A splitting headache struck the back of my head as I tried remembering what must’ve happened to me, but no matter how hard I tried to think about it, I just couldn’t. I felt lightheaded and it almost seemed like I was going to pass out.

Pass out after death?

I had flashes of the moment I had walked in on Tyler and Roxanne practically eating each other up; and also the time when Tyler was crowned Alpha shortly after our marriage ceremony and I visibly cringed.

The motherfucker had used time to climb up the social ladder; had planned it all out with Roxanne because they already knew of how vulnerable I was.

I shook out thoughts of Tyler from my head and turned around to take in the room I had woken up in.

This room…it looked familiar. A little too familiar, and just as I was still trying to recall where I must’ve seen it from, the door clinked open and I literally had to jump between the thick bed sheets as thoughts of Tyler and Roxanne bringing me in here to continue with their torturing struck my mind.

"You are awake," a calm and soothing voice called out and I looked up only to find a young lad of about my age walking into the room with a cup of coffee in his hand.

I couldn’t make out his face because my vision still felt slightly dizzy, I couldn't even say a word to him as my body ached slightly probably from the way I had fallen right off the cliff moments ago but as soon as he was close enough, I sat up.

“Hey!” He said but I paid no attention to him and quickly flung the bedsheets off my body as I rolled off the bed.

As soon as my feet touched the floor, I was met with a sudden chillness that made me stagger, almost falling back onto the bed.

The boy rushed towards me, placed the cup of steaming coffee on the table beside my bed before coming over to stop me from toppling to the cold floor.

"You aren't supposed to stress yourself yet, Sis. The doctor said that you are still not feeling too good to be moving around."

"Sis?" My mind drifted away for a few seconds and something struck my mind. "Derek?!" I called out and spun around to really look at him with a shocked expression on my face.

How the hell?

He looked just the way he did about two years ago, shortly before the automobile accident that had led to his and father’s demise.

What the hell was happening? He’s supposed to be dead…

"Is everything okay, Sis? you look like you’ve just seen a ghost?" He said with a small smile. If only he knew that he was the ghost and not me…

His series of questions threw me off balance and I slightly staggered as my lips began to mutter words which even I couldn't get a grasp of. I shook my head vigorously.

"I'm fine. I just need to …," I started muttering but stopped when my head began spinning. I sat up quickly, paying no attention to my weak legs and began prancing around the room frantically.

Something definitely didn’t feel right and I still could not wrap my fingers around what it was.

I staggered across the room, feeling my way through and flinging away everything I could lay my hands on. As if possessed by something, I pulled out my drawers and began throwing out everything in it, even my wardrobe too until the room was nothing but a disheveled mess.

“Is something wrong with you?!” Derek shouted, “What’s wrong, are you going nuts?”

He quickly rushed at me and tried pulling me together but in a haze, I pushed him off me with so much force that he staggered backwards a little.

I couldn’t understand why I was suddenly back in my old room, living a life I had lived before just a few minutes after getting killed by my best friend and husband. It didn’t make any sense to me. None of these made sense.

“I should speak to Dr Rodger… and then probably tell father that you’re awake right…or not because I do not understand what has come over you.” Derek lamented with panic clear in his voice.

I could hear him immediately leave the room after saying those words but I said nothing, because I had nothing to say to him. I couldn’t even remember who doctor Rodger was.

My hands surfed through the entire length of the room and as soon as it landed on that thing I had been looking for, a phone, my hands tightened around it.

My shaky hands slid through the power button, I squinted into its brightness and as soon as I saw today’s date and time my eyes widened.

The phone slid through my hands to the floor with a loud thump, and I stood unmoving, unsure of what had happened to me.

Had everything been a dream and I was still 19 years old? No, that’s not possible.

“February 23, 2017? I mumbled to myself. Everything that was happening suddenly made sense to me now; this is my afterlife! and my family members are here because they were dead too.

…or Maybe I had successfully traveled back in time…

"There’s no such thing as an afterlife, Lily… and I know you know that. All these things happening right now are definitely things you’ve lived in your past," a voice whispered from the back of my head and I spun around, wondering who it was.

Derek was no longer here and no one was here either. So who the hell was—?

"Do I have to introduce myself to you again? Are we gonna be doing this every time you’re resurrected?" she said sassily.

From the way she talked I already knew who it was. It was Ariel, my inner wolf.

"Ariel?"

“she remembers now!” She beamed with a smile. Her comment rang through my head like an echo, making it quite impossible to pay attention to something else.

I slowly walked over to the vanity mirror at a corner of the room, took in my overly young appearance and gasped. I had been really taken back in time again.

Ariel talked non stop in my head but I ignored her ramblings in my head this time though, for I was preoccupied with something else.

Something which bugged me intensely, something that life force had probably brought me back for.

They probably brought me back to right my wrongs, to get revenge for the way I had been unjustly killed and just so that I do not repeat my past mistakes.

I slowly stepped away from the mirror, whilst plotting new different ways to get my revenge but as soon as I walked away from the mirror, the phone close to my bed began ringing so loudly that I had to hold my head to keep it from falling.

“Arrgh!” I groaned but smiled immediately I saw the name on the screen, for it was Roxanne, my self acclaimed best friend.
