Chapter 6 Do You Want to Rebel?

Laura, Colin's mother, greeted the three as they entered the house.

"Colin, you've arrived."

She was over forty, but her face was so well kept that she appeared to be in her early thirties.

The jewelry she wore suggested a noble lady's demeanor.

Her eyes were mean when she saw Nina behind Colin.

"What are you doing back here?"

Nina was the last person she wanted to see.

"Auntie, I quit my job and want to take a break."

Nina lowered her eyebrows and looked very obedient.

Despite the fact that she addressed Laura as her aunt, they were not blood relatives.

Her mother and she were only half-sisters.

Her "aunt" adopted her ten years ago after her parents mysteriously vanished in a car accident.

At that time, her aunt's child, Colin, was exactly three years older than her.

The aunt was envious and despised her mother, and she never treated her well.

"Resign? Idleness is not tolerated in our household."

"As soon as she found out she wasn't working anymore, her voice rose even higher: "Go out and look for work tomorrow."

She pressed her lips together silently.

A trace of anger flashed across Laura's eyes.

This little bitch had the same personality as her "dead" mother.

As a result, the longer they were together, the more disgusted she became.

"You're just as lazy as your mother, thinking about free food and drink!" She made an exaggerated gesture with her hands.

Nina's eyes were slightly cold when it came to her mother.

Usually, she might endure it.

But this time, she didn't want to.

"Auntie, my mother has always had good grades. She earned a postdoctoral degree from a prestigious university. Isn't she gifted all the time?"

"When I was an adult, I went out to work part-time, and I never asked you or my uncle for a penny."

"Besides, my parents' inheritance has been in your name for so many years. I don't owe you anything," she grumbled.

She didn't understand as a child and was brainwashed into believing she owed a lot to the White family.

Her parents' old friend happened to come to see her, and she discovered that her parents did not leave her nothing.

"Are you going to rebel?"

Laura was taken aback, then enraged. She had disobeyed for the first time in more than two decades.

She didn't care about the manners of a lady.

She rushed up and was about to pull Nina's hair down.

"I brought my girlfriend back, Mom."

Colin took a step forward and stood between them.

Nina regarded his broad and straight back with mixed emotions.

The way he protected her gradually overlapped with her memory.

She hid in the corner when she first arrived at White's house. Only he would secretly give her something to eat.

He also told her stories and coaxed her to sleep.

When Laura bullied her and forced her to do hard work, he would try to assist her in any way he could.

Duke White, Colin's father, was not at home all year and essentially ignored her existence.

Only Colin was the only light in her darkness.

But he now had a girlfriend. She was the type of girlfriend he could bring home to meet his parents openly and honestly.

"Girlfriend? Where is she?"

Laura was surprised and delighted. She quickly straightened her hair on the temples, and a smile returned to her face.

Demi, who had been standing outside the door for a long time, similarly put the teasing at the corner of her mouth aside and came forward obediently.

"Hello, auntie."

Demi, dressed in a white gown, had a calm demeanor. She was tall and had a lovely face. Laura fell in love with her because of her wonderful voice.

"Okay, I like this girl."

She welcomed Demi in and even found her a pair of slippers.
