Bigger problem

*Alpha Maxwell Lynch of the Blood Stone Pack woke up. *

Jane and Lucas rushed back to Alpha Quarters. Worriers were stationed on the floor and looked worried.

*'Goddess, do not let the medicine kill him. Save him,' prayed Lucas. *

Max slowly opened his eyes, feeling groggy and disoriented. Jane and Lucas rushed to his side; their faces etched with concern. The warriors stationed on the floor looked on anxiously, hoping for a positive outcome. Lucas administered the medicine carefully, praying that it would not adversely affect the patient's health. As he waited for the medicine to take effect, Max felt a surge of energy in his chest; his wolf was trying to wake up inside him.

The room was filled with a palpable sense of relief as the Alpha's condition stabilized, signaling that he was on the road to recovery. The members inside the room breathed a collective sigh of relief and thanked the goddess for sparing their leader's life.

"Can you hear me, Alpha?" asked Lucas, checking his pulse. "Nod your head if you are unable to talk." Alpha slowly nodded his head, his eyes fixed on Lucas's face. He was feeling weak and disoriented, unable to comprehend what had happened to him. Lucas continued to monitor his vital signs, making notes on a clipboard. Alpha tried to speak, but no words came out of his mouth. Lucas reassured him that he was in good hands and that they would do everything possible to help him recover. Alpha closed his eyes and tried to relax.

Alvin brought a glass of water, and Max drank it in slow sips. As he took another sip of water, he looked at the members of the room. Physicians Alvin and Jonas, along with his two main warriors, were in his room.

"What's going on? Why am I here?" Max asked, his hoarse voice breaking. Lucas hesitated before answering.

"You were shot with wolfsbane and silver water during the pack run. You've been in a coma for the past two months." Alpha's eyes widened in shock. He could not believe what he was hearing. He remembered the pack run vividly, but he had no recollection of being shot.

Lucas continued, "Your body went into shock and shut down. We've been monitoring your progress closely, and it's been touch and go for a while there." Max's heart sank as he realized how close he had come to dying. He looked around the room, taking in the beeping machines and IV bags hanging from poles. It all felt so surreal.

"Two months? How bad was it?"

"It was pretty bad," said Lucas, looking at his chart.

"You rest for today; we can talk about this once you are ready." Physician said. Alvin went near Max and said, "It is good to have you back, Alpha."

"Don't let anyone know I woke up," Max commanded with his remaining strength. Everyone obeyed his order. Max closed his eyes and drifted to sleep.

Aunt Petunia came rushing to Max's room. "What happened? Is he awake? " She asked, looking worried. The group of people surrounding Max looked at each other, unsure of what to say. Finally, one of them spoke up. "He growled in pain we induced sleeping medicine, he's resting now," they said.

Aunt Petunia let out a sigh of relief and sat down next to Max's bed. She held his hand and whispered words of encouragement to him, hoping he could hear her even in his sleep. The room was quiet except for the sound of Max's breathing. Everyone was lost in their thoughts, wondering what would happen next. As the hours passed by, the group took turns keeping watch over Max, making sure that he was comfortable and safe.

The next day, in the afternoon, Jane carried a box of food for Max. She carefully fed him and gave him the tea that Lucas had prepared yesterday. Max drank the tea and gave her back the cup. A low growl erupted from him.

"Is he waking up?" she asked him, as he was rubbing his chest. "He is waking up," Max said, as he felt familiar warmth in his chest. Lucas along with Alvin entered the room, and both looked relieved to see Max awake. Lucas checked his vitals and confirmed that he was stable. Alvin patted Max on the back and told him how worried he had been. Max smiled weakly, still feeling a bit groggy from the medicines. The events leading up to his hospitalization were still hazy in his mind, but he knew that he had narrowly escaped death. He felt grateful to be alive and vowed to make the most of his second chance. As he lay there, recovering, he thought about all the things he wanted to do with his life - travel, learn new skills, spend time with loved one’s 'Lilly' - and felt a renewed sense of purpose. He knew that it would not be easy, but he was determined to make every moment count from now on.
