Chapter 5

My family went about the rest of their morning leaving me in the living room with Scott.

My mom and dad were still gone, but my other dad Noah said they were alright and that mom was trying to get my fathers wolf to calm down.

I've overheard the way my mom talks to her girlfriends about their mates. I don't think I needed to know what they were doing dad.

I may not have said it out loud but I remember thinking it, I think Scott was drinking something when I did because I heard him spit his drink out when I did.

Sorry mom, I'm having a crisis and you and dad go off to screw. Way to show me.

I looked up from my phone when the smell of my dads famous chicken noodle soup wafted my senses.

He only cooked that when one of us were sick, was somebody sick?

I got up from the chair I was way too comfortable in and made my way into the kitchen, I walked over and rested my head on his arm watching him stir the food.

"Hey baby girl." He chuckled, taking the arm I was leaning on and wrapped it around me. "Are you hungry?" He asked me.

My wolf yapped, obviously excited to have what he was cooking. I wasn't sure if I could keep it down though, I'd have to probably have some bread with it to help with the nausea.

"Maybe a little bit." He chuckled again. "Your mom will be here soon, she said Axel wouldn't listen to her, he kept trying to shift in the car."

My eyes closed, I could understand why he was angry I really could. I was his baby, his youngest and the man that is supposed to love me and be with only me is hurting me because he can't keep his dick away from others.

I also know my dad wouldn't cause me more pain by actually killing Ryan...atleast I don't think he would.

"The divorce papers..." I said softly "it says you guys had proof of him with another woman. Who is it?" I asked him.

I never wanted to know before, but now that I've signed and given Ryan the papers I think I deserve to know about atleast one of the people who has caused me tremendous pain. Physically and mentally.

My dad turned his food off and turned to me, his eyes held worry. "I don't think you need to know who she is." I lowered my gaze.

I placed my hand on my belly when I felt butterflies erupt in it, he didn't move often, but just enough to let me know he was there. "Daddy please?"

He placed his hand on my cheek and I looked back up at him. "Are you sure you can handle it? Because once I tell you there's no going back."

My heart sped up a little, did I really need to know? Was it a pack member one of his old pack members from the Crystal Pack?

I shook my head changing my mind. "Just tell me on thing? Is she a pack member?" I asked, if it was a pack member then this woman knew exactly who he was and that he had a mate.

My father sighed deeply. "It is but she was drunk when it happened. Your idiot of a husband recorded it and sent it to one of your brothers by accident. Levi thought it was you until he seen her face."

I felt tears brimming in my eyes as I looked back at my dad. If they had all of this information they should have told me alot sooner.

Who was the woman that Ryan had slept with that they are so hesitant to tell me the name of.

But since he didn't want to tell me who it was I somehow knew exactly who she was. "It was Felicity, wasn't it?" A single tear fell from my eye, he never said a word but he did wrap his arms around me.

Felicity was my only friend growing up, a few months ago she stopped talking to me and never told me why. I had nobody to talk to about my daily life, I never even got to tell her I was pregnant because she had stopped talking to me.

"We tried to get her to talk to you about it but she was so ashamed. She didn't know that Ryan had been cheating on you because you never shared that with her." He explained.

He kissed my head and I pulled away from him. "She asks about you though." I looked away from him, she could talk to me. I'm sure I would have been upset and angry with her but she's my best friend.

I leaned up and kissed his cheek before going and sitting at the table. I laid my head down on it and just thought about how horrible my life is compared to my cousins and siblings. They all have perfect lives and loving mates.

Why did the Moon Goddess pair me with somebody who never wanted to love me to begin with? Had I upset her?

I heard a knock on the front door, I got up and left the kitchen. I walked down the hall and into the foyer and over to the door and opened it.

I went to close it again when I seen him, he grabbed the door with his hand and pushed his way into my parents home. "Get out!" I gritted my teeth at him.

"I want to talk to you about this bullshit you gave me." Ryan shoved the envelope into my chest harshly. "What's so hard to understand about it, Ryan? I want a divorce!" I told him with an eye roll.

He stepped closer to me and grabbed my arm tightly. "You are my mate, my property. I'm not signing these papers, Brooke!"

I shoved him away from me, I hadn't realized his claws were out when I pushed him so when his hand slipped from my arm 3 of his claws dug into my upper arm making me hiss at the pain.

"Once you sign those papers, the better off we will be." I said placing my hand over my bleeding arm. I threw the envelope back at him and he caught it. "I will reject you once every respectful part is signed."

He scoffed and laughed bitterly. "You won't reject me, Brooklyn!" He said with a smirk.

No I didn't want to, but I knew I had to. I wasn't loosing my baby and he wasn't going to kill me.

I straightened my back and looked him dead in the eyes, his bright blue eyes reflected humor because he didn't think I was serious.

"I, Brooklyn Jeanne Nichols-Evans hereby reject you Ryan Anthony Dale as my fated mate." I felt so much pain in my heart but I stood as tall as I could, tears built and fell from my eyes because of it.

"Accept it, Ryan!" My father growled from behind me. I didn't even know him and mom had gotten back, I never heard them pop in.

Ryan growled holding the divorce papers tightly in his hand, his other one was in a fist so tight his knuckles had turned white.

"I, Ryan Anthony Dale...." He paused, I could tell that this was definitely his wolf that had taken over. "..accept your rejection." He then turned and stormed out leaving the door wide open.

I gasped loudly and fell to my knees clutching my chest where my heart was. Nobody ever talked about how much it hurt when a rejection takes place.

As much as it needed to happen, I was still very much in love with Ryan and I hated myself for it.

Arms wrapped around me so I began crying harder. My heart felt like it had shattered to a billion pieces. "It hurts, why does it hurt so much?" I asked, tears falling from my eyes.

"Tout ira bien ma chérie.." I glance over my shoulder to see who it was that was holding me while I balled my eyes out for somebody who never deserved a single thought of someone crying over him.

Scott never smiled to comfort me but his eyes said it all.

He was the complete and total oppisite of what I'm used to. His blank and stoic face was never one to judge a person, but his eyes...Goddess they spoke volumes.

I felt a pain in my lower stomach so I rubbed it. I wasn't going to loose my baby boy because his father was a jerk. A hand covered mine and an electrical current flowed through my body with his touch, it made the pain in my chest and stomach ease a bit.

My eyes drifted closed,  I suddenly felt really tired. With my body pressed so close to Scott so I could feel his warmth, his hand over mine was soothing and the way he spoke in a different language I didn't know made me feel as light as a feather.

Zena purred in my head, she hasn't done that in months.

So her feeling comfortable enough to withstand most of the pain we just went through and is now laying down comfortably while purring, said alot.

I was being lifted from the soft cocoon I was swallowed into made me whimper at the person who removed me from it, I wanted to open my eyes but they were too heavy.

I was laid on a soft bed but my brain wasn't working with me to snuggle into the pillows.

"It's going to be right baby girl." My mothers sweet voice filled my ears as she stroked my cheek. I felt everything finally begin to fade away after that, the darkness took me soon after.
