Chapter 2

Chapter two:

Dianna

It was whispered in the whole Dark Wood Pack that the Emperor of the South was born without a heart.

I was on my way to the forestland to get some leaves when I saw some people entering the Dark Wood Pack.

I was busy picking some leaves when I heard some strange noise. It was obvious that someone was stalking me. Then I decided to look back and I was surprised by knowing that I was being chased by the rogues and there were so many. I increased my screaming, moved very fast then I tripped and fell in front of a well-shaped figure. I closed my eyes as I was trembling in fear. Then I decided to open my eyes and saw a huge figure standing in front of me.

"Are you alright?" He asked, he looked like someone in his early fifties. I nodded my head since I was lost in total admiration of the stranger standing in front of me.

"Waste them all!" He yelled at his men and the power following his voice was the same as an Alpha and I wonder how he is this strong if he is not an Alpha.

"Stupid girl, must you bring shame to the Pack?" I heard ma'am Flora's voice as she came to help me stand up.

We were all amazed how the people from the South took care of the rogue that was about to attack our Pack with only four men and none of them even transformed into a wolf.

"Once again they have proved that the South will always rule over the werewolves", Gabu said, and honestly I agreed with him.

I didn't even have the opportunity to show my gratitude to the man that saved me from those creatures that were chasing me because I was lost in the crowd. I was being taken away by Ma'am Flora, I prayed that I would meet him again in the future so I would thank him for his kind gesture.

"I am glad that you are safe," I heard Gabu's voice from behind as I was busy fetching water from the well. I was shocked to hear him talk to me for the first time. I refused to turn because that would only give him a view of my face and I don't want him to see the blisters on my face and my back looking better than my face.

"I really appreciate your concern," I replied without stuttering, I felt very proud of myself.

"I really wish I was the one that saved you at least it would make you see me in a new light," Gabu said and I don't have any other choice than to turn and face him so that I can understand properly what he was actually trying to say. He moved closer to me and our eyes met each other. That made me regret why I showed him my face. My heart is already beating very fast and I tried to calm it down in order not to allow him to pick its sound with his super hearing.

"I guess you are surprised to know that I care this much," he said and waited a while for my reply but I kept mute.

"Anyways, I have always cared for you but due to some circumstances, I was unable to show it but this incident that happened sent a wake-up signal to me," he said as he moved back a little bit, immediately I released his breath that I was holding.

"I don't really understand you, what are you really trying to say?" I asked.

"Well I am already twenty-seven years and still without a mate, although I have given up hope of finding a mate and I don't think that is a bad idea but your presence always makes me feel different," he said then looked at me and smiled.

"Are you really not affected by those blisters on my face?" I asked.

"To me, all I see is beautiful blue eyes and hair as dark as the ravens." He replied and his words melted my heart because nobody has ever said such words to me ever since my mother died. Immediately, tears ran down my face but I didn't bother to wipe them because I knew I was too strong for that.

I keep growing fond of Gabu as the day passes, most times he comes when I am drawing water from the well or when I am in the forestland to get some leaves. But whenever people are around, he will just wave and smile in order to acknowledge my presence.

"Tomorrow is the adulthood ceremony," Gabu said as he was helping to pick some leaves.

"Yes," I gave him the answer he needed to hear, not because I am hoping to get a mate but because he might be able to find his own mate in the ceremony.

"That is good, you know I will be very busy attending to the guests and we might not be able to see each other," he said as he helped me stand up and kissed my forehead in a fast motion that I didn't have the chance to react to.

"You remember your promise I guess," he said as he walked away.

I placed my hand on my forehead and pitched myself to know if I was dreaming. I can't wait for the ceremony to come and go because I am gradually overcoming my greatest fear of being all alone. Even though I was unable to meet the ONE that was supposed to break the curse, I am very glad I met Gabu.

It was the day of the adulthood ceremony and they kept them from not allowing me to attend the ceremony. That didn't bother me because I will use that opportunity to get herbs in the forestland and make some ointment that can beautify me to look more presentable to Gabu after the ceremony.

Gabu is the Alpha Edward Beta son and he is going to supersede his father and if we mate, my status will be high.

From the forestland, I could hear the sound of drums coming from the ceremony. When I got to the river, I decided to have my bath there before gathering the herbs that I need.

Then I dipped my whole body inside the river and I felt the coldness of the water. Then the river blossomed showing I wasn't the only one in it. Immediately, I stood up not really minding that I was naked.

The river was only able to cover half of my body and thankfully I have long hair that covers my breast. I was focused on the reason why the water blossomed, surprisingly a tall dark muscle body was backing me. His appearance was overwhelming, not even the Alpha of the Dark Wood Pack does his presence overwhelmed me as much as this stranger.

"Please who are you?"

I asked as he slowly turned and graced me with his front view. He is the cutest and most handsome man I have ever set my eyes on. Before I could capture his whole body structure I felt the whole world rotating.

"Mate,"

that was the word that left his lip and the last word I heard before I fell unconscious.
