Chapter 3
Gabriel's POV
An annoying stare followed me from the beginning of my speech. I scanned the crowd and a woman was staring at me.
She was draped with my jacket. Clearly, she was the woman who had just had red wine thrown at her. The loving gaze made me feel sick, this kind of weak person who only had a pretty appearance and couldn't fight back when red wine was spilled over her, I should have known I shouldn't have helped her.
"She's beautiful, Gabriel, and she seems very interested in you." Dane said, "You can try."
"What's the use of being pretty? She's still just a weakling. Beautiful but fragile, just a flower in a greenhouse!"
"You're too stubborn!" On the subject of women, he had hit a wall here twice today. Dane shook his head and stopped talking.
I gave the sight a warning look of boredom and continued my speech.
After the speech, the party entered the dancing session. Countless young men and women stepped into the dance floor, stepping lightly and rhythmically to the beat of the music on the smooth marble floor.
I raised my glass and made a formulaic toast to the elders, finally coming to an old man in white robes and speaking respectfully. "Elder Erick, it has been a hard day for you."
His hair was white, he wore heavy black-framed glasses, and his beard was long and numerous, like a white brush. Behind Erick's beard was a black rope necklace wearing a wolf's tooth pendant, which was very conspicuous under the white dress.
"It is my duty. I sincerely hope to find a powerful Luna for Alpha through this selection," Elder Erick smiled benevolently as he stroked his beard, his eyes narrowing into slits as he smiled. "Well, is Alpha about to tell me the good news?"
"I'm sorry, Elder Erick, I didn't find a mate that belonged to me," I said, pretending to be sorry, but in fact I didn't go looking for it.
"How is this possible Gabriel! All the unmarried women are here." The elder was obviously a little anxious. "Are you sure you didn't miss any?"
I shook my head, somewhat hopelessly. "Maybe the Moon Goddess has other arrangements."
"All right." Elder Erick was a little lost. "Gabriel, we've been suppressed by witch for too long."
"I understand."
I knew he was reminding me to find Luna quickly, but I wasn't going to listen to him, one more person with me was just one more burdensome. Besides, mate's selection method was too uncontrollable, and I could never deliver everything to the wolf pack to someone who appeared out of nowhere. Even if I was the only one, I could still make the wolf pack strong, as long as Ava developed the key medicine.
When the boring dance was finally over, I found Ava, who I hadn't seen for a few days, at the entrance of the venue.
"Dr. Ava is busier than I am." I darkened my tone.
"Dear Alpha, how may I help you?"
"What is the progress? I haven't received a progress report from you in four days."
"I still need some time, this drug is currently in the trial phase and I have to make sure it is reliable." Ava said.
"How much longer will it take? We don't have much time, we have to hurry and develop it before the next witch attack." I said to her seriously.
"About four to six months."
"It's been too long, hurry up and cut the time short, the news from the border isn't 大大咧咧
very promising." I frowned for a while. There had been friction at the border for some time, and an attack could be launched at any time.
"I need time. Instead of discussing this, why don't we talk about what you got tonight, how about Luna, did you find her?" Ava raised an eyebrow.
I glanced at her and didn't say anything.
"What's that eating-shit look? You still haven't found it, right?" Ava said with a smirk.
I directly rolled my eyes at her, after knowing her for so many years, Ava always had a casual personality, she always made appropriate jokes about me, and I couldn't do anything about her.
"Hey, Autumn," she said, turning suddenly and waving to the back.
I looked over at the sound and a woman nodded at me from a distance. I didn't need to see her face to know who she was. The woman had been wearing my jacket all night, and she was like a ghost.
"This is my sister, Autumn," Ava introduced the woman to me.
"Are you sure this is your sister?" Ava just taught a few girls a lesson at the ball, which I could see clearly. And this look was still considered gentle, usually her temper was hotter, which people dare not compliment.
"I didn't expect the violent Dr. Ava to have such a weak sister, the difference in your strength is like the galaxy between you." I said snidely.
This comment made Ava's face sink. "You call my sister weak? Mr. Gabriel please watch your words, even if you are the Alpha of the wolf pack, you are not allowed to say that about Autumn," Ava said and waved her fist, with the look of punching someone if I would say another word nonsense.
I didn't expect a weak person to be protected by a strong sister, which I found somewhat amusing.
The woman came over and bowed to me again, and because Ava was here, I just nodded indifferently.
Ava went to deliver Erick's medicine, leaving the two of us standing at the door.
But I didn't want to pay attention to this woman, who bored me every time she appeared.
She suddenly spoke. "Hello Alpha, I'm Autumn."
"What a difficult woman!" I thought to myself. I wanted to see what kind of tricks this woman was going to play.
I squinted over and met her eyes exactly.
The next second, my whole body crossed an electric current and a fresh flower fragrance flew into my nasal cavity, then my body was uncontrollably aroused.
Dane and I said in our heads at the same time. "mate."
"mate, she's our mate!" said Dane, bouncing around in my head.
Dane's presence calmed me down and I suppressed the urge to pounce on her, narrowing my eyes and examining the woman in front of me from head to toe.
mate?
Just this soft woman in front of me, how could she be my mate?
The Moon Goddess must have played a joke on me: she can't even transform into a wolf! Luna of the wolf pack should be powerful and intelligent, not a wretch who only waits for her sister's protection.
I gave her a disgusted look and walked quickly away from the meeting.
"Gabriel, we have found our mate, that's good news. Hurry up and have someone prepare for the coronation." Dane looked happier than I was.
I walked on by myself and didn't answer.
"Hey, did you hear what I said?" Dane prodded again.
"Do you approve of her?" I asked.
"What?" Dane froze, clearly not knowing what I was talking about.
"You saw her cowardice tonight, she can't even transform into a wolf, what do you think she can do?"
"But Gabriel, whatever she is, it is the will of the Moon Goddess." Dane persuaded.
"Just a punk with a pretty appearance, the wolf pack won't recognize such a Luna! The Moon Goddess must have made a mistake!"
"Shut up, Gabriel! You can't be impolite to the Moon Goddess, what you have said is desecrating the mate relationship."
"She must have done something to make me mistake her for our mate," I didn't believe the scene just now. "Even if she really is our mate, what can she contribute to the wolf pack? Is it to wait until the war with witch and easily become a hostage and a handle for witch to hold the wolf pack hostage? Dane, I hate weak people!"
"You don't have to...because of what happened to your mother."
"That's enough Dane!" I interrupted, a little frantic, I hated when anyone brought up my mother.
Realizing that he had said something he shouldn't, Dane stopped talking.
Back at the pack house, the maid came up to me with a coat. "Alpha, a lady asked me to give this to you."
I narrowed my eyes and said coldly, "Throw it away! Order it down, I don't want to hear or see everything about this woman in the future!"
"Yes sir."
What a pester!
My body suddenly became uncontrollably aroused again, and I swung my fist at the wall in annoyance, trying to do so to vent. But to no avail, there was a constant scream of desire in my head, and the woman's face kept looming over my eyes.
Damn it! What the hell was going on tonight, what that woman did to me!
I went into the bathroom and turned the faucet on as big as it would go.
