Chapter 14 Emily's POV

Emily's POV

The entire ordeal lasted about two hours.

I leaned into his chest and listened to his heartbeat.

I reflected on what I had experienced tonight. I thought of Owen's sister. For a moment, I envied her. She really had a loving mate.

It seemed that the Moon Goddess wasn't all wrong with her pairings.

However, it was a pity that this loving couple was fated to be apart.

"Owen, have you met your mate?" I asked.

"Not yet," Owen admitted. "But I know she's around the corner."

"Is that so?" I wondered. There was an inexplicable feeling of loss in my heart, knowing that I was merely his lover and nothing else.

However, it would take a long time for this special someone to show up. It was better to worry about it later.

I should be enjoying the present as much as I could.

Perhaps I would find a perfect mate after moving on from Blake later.

I felt slightly better thinking about it this way.

Owen's embrace was starting to make me uncomfortable. I tried to push him away for a bit, but soon, I found his arms around me once more.

After a few more attempts, I stopped struggling and left him be.

I fell asleep in no time.

When I woke up, it was already the next day.

Did Owen leave?

I heard a noise. I opened my eyes and saw Owen pacing around the room.

"What are you doing?" I turned on the lights and saw the man holding a suitcase.

Owen said very calmly, "I didn't bring enough clothes and toiletries last time, so…"

Then, I saw him open the suitcase and casually unpack some clothes, shoes, and socks.

He began placing his belongings around the bedroom.

I wanted to put an immediate stop to this. "Owen, you can't leave these here."

Although Blake wouldn't be home at all time, I would be in trouble if he saw another man's clothes in the bedroom.

I was more worried about this affecting my revenge plan than about how Blake would treat me.

Just as the two of us were struggling over the belongings, my phone rang.

It was a call from Blake.

Immediately composing myself, I motioned for Owen to not make any noise. As soon as I answered the call, I heard Blake urge me, "Open the door. I'm coming back to get something."

"Are you already at the door?" I looked at Owen beside me, who was still in the midst of unpacking. My heart was thumping.

"Yes, I am," Blake replied.

"I-I'll open it for you." I hung up the phone right away and said to Owen in a low voice, "Take your stuff and get out of here quickly. He's back."

While the soundproofing of the walls was decent here, I was still worried that Blake could hear someone else in the room.

I was very flustered the whole time, but Owen was as cool as a cucumber, with no intention of leaving at all.

I quickly shoved all of his belongings towards underneath the bed.

I urged him to leave, but to my surprise, he remained glued to the bed.

I was worried about Blake suspecting something after waiting for so long, so I cast a warning glance at him and immediately went to open the door.

"What took you so long?" Blake asked me.

"Cut me some slack. I've just woken up." I tried my best to stay calm and collected, but I couldn't resist looking in the direction of my bedroom.

Blake ordered, "Go make some breakfast. I'm hungry."

He walked to his bedroom.

"In a minute," I said.

I walked towards the kitchen. As soon as I went downstairs, my phone rang twice. I saw a text that Owen had just. "I'm hungry too. I want breakfast."

"Don't do anything!" I texted him.

Soon, he sent another text. "It's fine if you don't wanna cook for me. I can cook too."

"Don't come out!" was my response.

I could picture Owen smiling while typing out his next text. "I want a breakfast completely different from Blake's. I need a photo proving you didn't make the same one twice."

I rolled my eyes at the bastard.

I got right into making breakfast. I prepared for Blake a sandwich, a banana and a glass of milk.

For Owen, I prepared a different sandwich, blueberries and a tub of yogurt.

As soon as I uploaded a photo of the breakfasts, Blake yelled at me, "Are you done yet, Emily? You're slower than a snail!"

"Coming right up!" I brought Blake's breakfast to his room.

Blake said to me as he ate the breakfast I made for him, "You need to speed up in the future. I'm already starving, but you still want to act like a snail. It's really annoying."

Humph. As if there would be a future with him.

I headed back to the kitchen and brought Owen's breakfast to my room.

Owen commented as he accepted the breakfast, "It looks amazing."

He suddenly thought of something and said, "Have you had breakfast yet?"

I deadpanned, "You actually care about whether I've had my breakfast. I almost thought you were a good person."

I added, "I'm not hungry. You can have everything."

"No problem." Owen began to gobble the entire breakfast up, like it was the best breakfast he ever had.

My mood was uplifted for some reason.

Owen emptied the breakfast platter I prepared in seconds. He handed the tray to me and said, "Thank you very much."

He stood up from the bed and kissed me. I reciprocated with another kiss.

Unfortunately, Owen was getting more and more passionate. He placed the tray on the nightstand and said, "Let me feed you."

Sensing the desire in his eyes, I smiled and patted him in the chest. "Owen, you're at my home. We'll be discovered."

He refused to let go of me and carried me into the bathroom. He said, "I recall you telling me the soundproofing in the bathroom is the best."
