THE STRANGER AT THE WINDOW

A black color Porsche car came and stopped in front of a high-rise building. When the driver got down from the car and opened the door, the person who emerged had a very strong aura. He was wearing a black Italian designer suit. Inside, he had a white shirt without a single wrinkle, complemented by a black tie and diamond cufflinks.

Standing at about 6 feet tall, with a fair complexion, captivating eyes, and a chiseled jawline, his overall personality was quite impressive. Walking by his side was a person carrying a laptop bag. They entered the building, followed closely by two bodyguards.

James, the assistant at the gate, greeted the person and said, "Good morning, Mr. Blackwood. The clients have arrived and are waiting for you in the meeting."

With a simple "Hmm, okay," Mr. Blackwood moved towards the elevator with his long strides. Upon reaching the 12th floor, he stepped out of the lift and swiftly made his way towards his cabin, acknowledging the morning wishes from his office staff.

His focus was on his upcoming meeting, the thought of which consumed him. He headed straight to his cabin, extending his hand for a handshake as he greeted the clients inside.

"Hello, Mr. Hastings. We've been waiting for you," he said in his deep voice.

The man's name was Ethan Blackwood. Taking his seat, he wasted no time and suggested, "Let's not waste any more time and begin the meeting."

Ethan became engrossed in the discussion. However, his phone rang, interrupting the meeting. There was only one person with the audacity to disturb Ethan's meeting, and that was his niece, Charlotte. Even though Charlotte couldn't speak, her nanny contacted Ethan on her behalf.

Panicked, Mrs. Thompson, Charlotte's nanny, informed Ethan, "Sir! Charlotte isn't eating her food. She seems very upset. What should I do?"

Ethan gave a stern response to Charlotte's nanny, saying, "Quit your job immediately!" He hung up the phone, visibly irritated. Afterward, Ethan called his house caretaker, Mrs. Thompson, and said, "Hello, Mrs. Thompson! Please feed Charlotte and schedule interviews for a new nanny. If she still refuses to eat, let me know. I'll come and feed her myself." With that, Ethan ended the call.

The clients sitting across from Ethan observed his interaction, noting that despite his formidable personality, he became incredibly tender-hearted when it came to his niece. It is said that even a demon can possess a kind soul. Such was the case with Ethan—Charlotte was the embodiment of his life.

After concluding the meeting, Ethan left for home. Charlotte was the only remnant of Ethan's deceased brother, who had entrusted her care to Ethan before his passing. Ethan had, in essence, become a single father.

Meanwhile, several kilometers away from Ethan's office, Amelia Williams sat in the waiting area for a job interview. When her turn came, she quickly entered the interview cabin, only to discover that the position had already been filled through favoritism. Feeling disheartened, Amelia left the cabin.

Amelia grew increasingly frustrated. She slammed her interview file shut and, with an air of defiance, loudly exclaimed at the reception, "If you're going to hire candidates based solely on favoritism, why waste people's time? Just call the selected candidates!" With that, Amelia stormed out of the company.

She took a deep breath and with a sad face, she stepped out and started waiting for a taxi. Her hope had been shattered once again. A taxi pulled over, and she got in, instructing the driver about the direction to her house. Resting her head against the seat, she picked up her phone and began looking at the job vacancy once more.

Meanwhile, Ethan had taken Charlotte out for a walk. He often took her out for ice cream as Charlotte's mood was much brighter when indulging in the frozen treat. Whenever Charlotte was with him, Ethan didn't allow any drivers or bodyguards to accompany them.

He preferred to drive the car himself. However, Charlotte remained deeply saddened. She had turned her face towards the window, gazing out with sad eyes. Ethan attempted several times to capture her attention, but Charlotte remained fixated on the passing scenery.

While waiting at a red light, Amelia's taxi stopped right beside Ethan's car. Amelia peered out of her taxi window and noticed a melancholic Charlotte looking through Ethan's car window. As Amelia observed Charlotte closely, she noticed the depth of her sadness, surpassing her own. Thoughts raced through her mind, "What could be troubling this little girl to make her so sad? I thought I was the only one feeling down. But this little girl is adorable."

Lost in her thoughts, Amelia lowered the glass of her taxi window and gestured to attract Charlotte's attention. She made a bird with her hands and pretended it was flying. Surprisingly, Charlotte, who had been unresponsive to her uncle's attempts, became captivated by this unknown girl.

Charlotte's full attention was now focused on Amelia, sitting in the adjacent cab. She tried to mimic Amelia's hand gestures, an action that caught Ethan's attention. Leaning towards Charlotte's seat, he looked out of the window and his gaze fell upon Amelia.

For a brief moment, Ethan's eyes lingered on Amelia, who was a simple and cheerful girl, possessed fair complexion, large eyes accentuated by long lashes, rose-petal lips, beautiful silky hair, and stood an impressive 5 feet 8 inches tall.

At that moment, Amelia was too engrossed in captivating Charlotte's attention to notice Ethan's gaze upon her. Ethan observed her every movement intently. For a moment, he simply observed Amelia. What drew him towards her was her ability to engage Charlotte, something he had struggled to do.

The signal turned green, and Amelia blew a flying kiss to Charlotte before her taxi driver accelerated away. This brief encounter with Charlotte had lifted Amelia's spirits, and Charlotte was in a similar state.

Meanwhile, Ethan returned to his driving seat and continued his journey. The brief meeting had left an impression of Amelia in Ethan's mind.

Amelia and Ethan parted ways from that point. Ethan's mind was filled with thoughts of how Amelia had succeeded in capturing Charlotte's attention, something he himself had been unable to achieve.

On the other hand, Amelia felt a little better after the encounter. Her mood had improved compared to before. As Amelia reached her destination, she received a call from her younger brother, Sam.
