CHAPTER 4

"Why didn't you tell me?" I asked him furious that he would keep me in the dark.

"I was waiting for the right time, now is the right time," he replied.

"So talk," I said to him anxious to hear his explanation.

"Our blood line is extremely rare and has gotten stronger over time. The only mates our ancestors have had are ones with alpha blood. Because our blood has not been mixed with any other type we are much stronger than the average alpha. There are only two other alphas in the world like us. We do not submit and we are invincible. We also have a stronger than normal mate bond. It is so strong that if death occurs the other dies instantly. We can only die if our mate does."

As I processed this information my uncle spoke again.

"We used to belong to the Silver Howling Moon Pack originally. Your real dad was an amazing alpha. One day your mother was attacked by a couple of rogues. She held on long enough for him to kill them before they both died instantly. We took you in and left the pack hoping to give you a better life. I never wanted to be alpha and your aunt and I thought you would be safer if we left. We planned on telling you the truth one day but after I lost her you were all I had. I wished many days that I possessed the alpha gene just so I could have gone with her, but I knew you needed me. As it turns out I needed you more. Forgive me for being selfish and not telling you sooner," he said with a pleading look.

I sat there stunned. I couldn't believe he kept all this from me. I knew what I had to do. I had to tell him how I really felt.

"I forgive you dad. You raised me and I love you for that but this is a lot to handle. I just don't know what to do," I said honestly. I saw him breathe a sigh of relief.

"Trust your wolf. He will lead you the right way. My brother always listened to his wolf when he was in doubt and it served him well. Yours will too," he said encouragingly.

I took his advice and asked my wolf what I should do at this point. "First you need to accept that bitches rejection," he said.

"But don't you want your mate?" I asked him curiously.

"Of course I want my mate! But something is telling me this is the right thing to do."

I didn't press him any further.

"I'm going out for a bit dad," I informed him walking out the door. "Lead the way," I told my wolf.

After ten minutes I saw her pink convertible in the driveway of a nice house. I saw a light on the second floor and my wolf's instincts were telling me it was her room. I climbed a nearby tree and knocked on her window. She threw it open angrily.

"What the hell are you doing here?!" she whisper yelled at me. I knew she was in there with another guy, I could smell him. He must have been sleeping.

"I just want to let you know I accept your rejection."

A slight pain went through my chest but it didn't hurt nearly as bad as I thought it would. The shocked look on her face said she was probably thinking the same thing.

After it passed she grinned and said, "Perfect now get the hell out of my sight." She closed the window and I climbed down from the tree.

"What now?" I asked my wolf.

"We go pack. We're leaving. We need to train before we go take our rightful position as alpha. Tomorrow we meet with the elders. When the time is right we will return."

After school I went to hang out with a few friends. We went to a little spot called The Reveal. It was like a lounge for the most popular kids.

Bryce was there and we laughed about the nerd and how he turned red as a tomato when I knocked his books out his hand. It was hilarious.

We ended up making out and I invited him back to my place to have a little fun. Since I rejected my weak, socially invisible mate I decided to just wash my hands of the horrible experience. Hooking up with guys was something I enjoyed since it made me feel in control.

Every since I was little I had people telling me what to do, to be perfect, try harder. It made me love winning and hate any thing close to loosing. As long as I was in control I didn't have to worry.

I pushed Bryce down on the bed once we made it into the house and up to my room. My parents were away since it was their anniversary so there would be no interruptions. At least that's what I thought.

After I rode Bryce to the point of exhaustion he feel asleep. I heard a light tap at my window and the scent told me exactly who it was.

I threw the window open angrily. "What the hell are you doing here?!" I yelled furiously but in a whisper so Bryce wouldn't wake up. I couldn't risk anyone finding out he was my mate.

"I just want to let you know I accept your rejection."

I expected to feel pain, hurt, but to my surprise all I felt was a slight sting.

"Perfect, now get the hell out of my sight," I said, closing the window. I couldn't be happier that he was out of my life for good. No way would I ever regret being rid of him.
