CHAPTER 5

Mona woke up in her human form. She didn’t remember for how long she’d passed out, and she couldn’t remember much from before then; the terrible headache she felt upstairs made her take more time in recalling.

As soon as she took note of her surroundings, she gasped, also noticing her bandaged arm. Where was she now? And who in the goddess’s name tied her up to a chair like this? Mona needed answers, and the worst thing was that there was no one else in this dark room she could talk to.

“Hello? Is anybody there? Helloooo!!!!”

Mona called several times, but the only response she got was the echo from her own voice. A big wave of frustration hit her then. Her mind then recalled the two men she saw before her eyes closed. It didn’t take much for her to realize that she’d been captured.

“Would someone tell me what the hell is going on???” She yelled loudly, and definitely if someone were outside, they would have heard her by now. Except if she were being ignored.

Mona struggled right there on the chair she was tied to, trying to see if she could make her way out, but unfortunately for her; these were no ordinary ropes. Her injured arm even only made things worse.

A few moments later, Mona had given up the chair struggle. She sighed as she bent her head, regretting the decision she made to come out today. Only the goddess knows what her captors have in mind to do to her. If she were kidnapped for money, then she ought to start counting her last moments on earth, as her kidnapper would definitely kill her after finding out how dirt poor her family were.

“I’m sorry,” she muttered to her wolf inside. “I should have listened when you told me not to go.”

Her wolf howled, comforting her, “it’s okay. Everything is going to be okay.”

Like an answer to her prayer, the door on the other end of the room opened, and someone walked through it before turning on the light. The only light in the dark room was a dimly lit bulb, hanging above the chair where Mona sat. It took a while for the face of the person to come to her view, as the room was badly lighted.

Mona’s heart jumped as soon as the face of her captor was revealed.

“Alpha Douglas Brine?!”

Why?

How?

How come? Mona asked herself.

He smiled. “Remarkable. You know me, and yet I am just meeting you.”

Of course, this was not the first time they were meeting, the situation was just that in the past, Mona’s presence seemed so irrelevant to that of the mighty and well-known alpha of the dark moon pack. They had both been in general gatherings that involved the southern wolf tribes.

Mona had attended many wolf gatherings were alpha Douglas would always be introduced if he were around, but the presence of an omega was not one that was ever recognized.

Mona asked the first question that came on her mind as soon as she recognized his face.

“What did you kidnap me for?”

It was a straight question, and she knew should at least have some hope in her heart for her life now that she knew who her captor was. Alpha Douglas was wealthy. It would be impossible for him to kidnap a mere omega for ransom in pennies compared to what he owned.

“You didn’t even tell me your name before you start throwing questions at me. How rude of you.”

Mona bent her head, knowing she should never disrespect an alpha, especially in such vulnerable position.

“I’m sorry,” she muttered.

“Good. Now, what is your name? And where do you come from?”

“I am Mona Ryan, an Omega of the Crimson pack.”

Hmmm. Interesting. The goddess never ceases to amaze; mating a lowlife with the most powerful of alpha’s.

His last statement was demeaning to her nature, but it gave Mona an idea of the reason for this kidnap. Mona remembered the mighty feud between the Lycans and the dark moon wolves. Everyone knew of the immense hatred that alpha Douglas had for alpha Dylan. He never failed to show it whenever the both of them attended the same gathering. It got to the point that all the other alpha’s of the southern tribes made a decision never to invite them both to the same gatherings so as not to be welcoming war with their hands.

So, now, Mona knows that she is here because of alpha Dylan, she still doesn’t know what for, but either way, alpha Douglas made a big mistake, as she and Dylan are no longer mates.

“Was it because of alpha Dylan you kidnapped me? Was it because you thought that he and I were mates?”

“Not that I thought. My men witnessed it. They saw you bonding with the Lycan alpha three days ago.”

Mona rose her voice, “what your men saw was nothing! He rejected the bond, and now, he and I are no longer mates.”

The next thing Mona felt was a huge slap on her face. The slap made her neck shift to the adjacent side, and the burn from the slap penetrated her skin.

Alpha Douglas took a cloth from the nearby table, wetting it with some water from a bottle, and then using it to wipe his hand he felt was now filthy from touching Mona.

“The next time you dare to raise your voice at me, I will make sure to kill you without a second thought.”

The poor she-wolf bent her head in response, mumbling a small apology from the side of her lips. She was scared as hell to let out any more words, for fear of using her own hand to tamper with her life.

Douglas continued, “it does not matter if the both of you are still mated or not. My kidnapping you was only a matter of trial and error. I have nothing to lose even if he doesn’t come after you. And you’d better pray that he does, if not, you’ll be as good as dead to me.”

A tear escaped as Mona closed her eyes, and her mind could only hold onto the previous words from her wolf.

“Everything is going to be okay.”

She hoped that it would.
