Chapter 8
Olivia's POV.
"Why would anyone want to put himself in harm's way for someone he does not know?" I flawed up.
"Olivia, you have to calm down. And, mostly believe that I don't have any plans to hurt you........"
"Then why the heck are you here? Why are you helping? How did you end up being a rogue wolf when you belong to my Pack?"
"I'll explain everything to you in due time. You need to rest. You're getting worked up already." He said in a soothing voice but I rolled my eyes.
"I'll just sleep on the couch." I said and sat down on the couch.
"No, Olivia. You can't sleep here, not in your condition. You need something more comfy." He bent over to me.
"Thanks for your kind gesture but I'm okay here." I whined in a rather harsh tone.
"Okay then." He got up to in feet, his voice conveying surrender. "You can just suit yourself. It was all my fault for saving you." He retorted and went to his room.
For the past few hours I've been with him, I've not seen him this way and it's hard for me to admit that a part of me feels sad for getting him that upset.
"Was I wrong? Did I overdo this?" I thought to myself.
"I'll apologize to him tomorrow." I whispered and laid down to sleep.
In no time, I nodded off.
The next morning, I woke up to the clattering sound of glasses and I slowly opened my eyes, rubbing it clean with the back of my palm. I tried to sit up, despite the aching pain that held my waist down; it was more than hell. Looking back, I saw Jake in the kitchen.
I got up and walked toward him, stood beside him for a while without saying a word while he continued doing the dishes like I was invisible.
"I want to apologize for what happened last night." I started off in a faint tone, talking nervously. "I didn't know what came over me. I just suddenly felt unsafe around you."
"Then you can go back to your Alpha." He snapped, still not taking a glance at me.
"Hey, Jake." I teased as I gently pulled his arm.
"Let go of me, I'm not in the mood for that."
"Really? You want to throw me out now?" I asked in a fake teary voice, blinking my eyes repeatedly as he looked at me.
"Please, I'm sorry. I didn't mean all I said."
"It's fine. I should have never acted that way too. I'm sorry." He said like a complete gentleman and this made me admire him for the first time.
"Thanks. Can I help you?" I asked with bulging eyes.
"No, you have to rest. The doctor said I should make sure you rest well. You should go back to the couch." He responded, washing the red mug cup in his hands.
"Yeah, about the couch......." I said, scratching my neck and looking like I had committed a crime.
"What happened?" His voice sounded alarming as he dropped the dishes and his eyes darted from me to the couch.
"Nothing happened to the couch." I answered in a sharp voice. "Just that it's not so comfortable to sleep there." I added in a a low voice, avoiding the eye contact he wanted badly.
He burst out into a loud laugh, thudding his feet on the floor occasionally.
"I thought you were so good with sleeping on the couch." He teased after the long laugh.
"Are you going to mock me or help? My whole back hurts."
"I'm sorry about that. You can use the bed in the room." There was still a pinch of laughter in his speech.
I rolled my eyes and went to the room.
Alpha Kaye's POV.
After Olivia attacked me, the pack members were able to get me home alive. I hired the best doctors to treat me and promised them a lot of money and reward. It would be bad if I don't make Olivia pay for what she did to me. So, I sent the pack members after her.
I was resting on a armchair when one of the elders that lead the trip knocked on the door.
"Come in."
The door opened and he walked in, looking ragged and tired. My brows tighteb as I got a glimpse of what had happened.
"What happened? Where is Olivia?" I asked in a deep voice.
"I'm sorry, Alpha Kaye. We had to retreat after she killed one of the elders."
"What?". I sprang up to my feet, not minding the pain that pierced through my chest. "How dare she commit more crimes?"
"She is really getting out of hand, Alpha Kaye." He said, looking straight into my eye but I returned the favor with a menacing glare and his gaze fell on the ground.
"I need to do something about her. I need to get my child from her." I said, slightly above a whisper as I walked toward the window.
"What should we do now, my King?" he asked, walking closer to me.
"Get me the child at all cost." I made a sharp turn to me as I gnashed my teeth.
"We will, Alpha Kaye." He bowed and exited the study room.
"Haaaaa!" I grunted in frustration.
"I have to finish up what I've started. Olivia, I will make sure you don't live to tell the story." An evil grin played on my lips.
I walked out of the study and went to my room, looked at the time; it was 2 in the afternoon.
"oh! She would be here any moment from now."
I quickly changed my clothes into a fine blue shirt and pant. And walked to the window, opened it to get a better view of her. I stood for the nest few seconds and it paid off as a young lady, around Olivia's age walked into a farm.
She is always dressed in ragged clothes but always neat. I don't know what had come over me but I can't get to get my eyes off her and I want to see her each time. Unfortunately for me, she had never noticed I had been looking at her.
It would have been easier for me to ask her out, which I know she would accept me because I'm the Alpha. But I want her to love me, willingly.
My heart skipped a beat when she suddenly lifted her head and our eyes met. I felt like like a rebranded man as her smile shimmered under the glistening sun.
"Good afternoon, my King." She mouthed and bowed.
