Chapter 03 Meeting the Children's Father

After saying that, the person on the other end of the line hung up decisively.

What an attitude! Ivy frowned disdainfully. She hadn't even started working yet, and she was already getting scolded.

After sending out another ten resumes, Ivy waited for a response.

For three consecutive days, she didn't receive any replies.

During lunchtime, the six little girls crowded around her eagerly.

"Mommy, I'm hungry."

"I want steak."

"I want French fries!"

"Mommy..."

"Okay, I'll place the order now." Ivy picked up her phone and ordered six delicious meals, totaling over a hundred dollars. But when it was time to pay, she realized that her balance was insufficient.

Just then, in the hotel, the boss lady came knocking on the door, "Ms. Foster, may I ask how many more days you will be staying? I have an old customer who wants to rent a suite for a month, and they've already paid the deposit."

"Are you trying to push me out?" Ivy was a bit displeased.

"No, that's not what I meant. But if you continue to stay, please make the accommodation payment in advance, so I can arrange another suite for the old customer."

Pay in advance...

Ivy felt a bit helpless. "Is it okay if I talk to you later about this?"

"Sure, but please do it quickly," the hotel owner agreed.

Feeling dejected, Ivy sat down on the edge of the bed. What should she do? She didn't have enough money and soon wouldn't have a place to stay.

When she was overseas, she had a good boss. Even though it was just a job washing dishes and serving plates, the boss provided her with food and accommodation and even let her six children eat for free.

Although she didn't save much money, she never had to worry about food and clothing. Now, after returning for just a few days, both food and accommodation became issues.

While she was pondering what to do, Blossom Fitness Club called again.

"Ivy, have you found a job yet?"

"Not yet," Ivy said.

"Do you know how to swim and dive?"

"Yes!" Ivy nodded.

"Great. Come and work tonight for only two hours, and I'll pay you $100!"

"Really? What kind of job is it?" Ivy's eyes gleamed.

"You'll know when you come. If you want this job, you must arrive before 7 pm tonight!"

$100 for two hours?

Ivy was both tempted and hesitant to go.

What kind of job required her to go at night? And she had to know how to swim too! The salary was high, so the risk must be significant.

But if she didn't go, she wouldn't have a place to stay or food to eat tomorrow.

"Mommy, when are we going to eat?"

"Our stomachs are growling."

The six little girls gathered around again.

"It'll be ready soon." Ivy placed another order and bought sandwiches and hot dogs, just enough with her remaining balance.

When the takeout arrived, the hotel owner's wife quietly followed. She was suspicious that Ivy might be a human trafficker.

"Mommy, are we having hot dogs for dinner today?" Third daughter pouted unwillingly.

Ivy awkwardly smiled. "Once Mommy finds a job, I promise to treat you to a big meal..."

"Mommy, since we're in difficulty, why don't we ask Dad for help?" Second daughter raised her innocent little head.

"Yeah, other kids are supported by their dads. Mommy, please take us to find Dad." The eldest daughter shook Ivy's arm, pleading.

"Mommy, take us to find Dad..." The six little girls no longer wanted to eat; they just wanted their dad back.

Ivy massaged her forehead. "Your dad has passed away, so let's not mention him in the future. Otherwise, it will make me very sad."

To make the lie more convincing, Ivy forcefully squeezed out two lines of tears.

"Mommy, don't cry..."

"We don't want Daddy anymore..."

Witnessing this scene, the hotel owner's wife felt sympathetic. Suddenly, Ivy walked in.

"Ms. Foster, I didn't expect you to experience the pain of losing your husband at such a young age. We are both in the same boat..." The innkeeper, Maria Clark, shared her own story of losing her husband and became a close friend of Ivy's.

She even rented out the unused old house in the backyard at a cheap price, allowing Ivy to pay the rent once she had a stable job. In the afternoon, Ivy was busy moving and organizing the house.

Maria treated Ivy to dinner and assured her that she could go to work with peace of mind while she helped take care of the children. With the accommodation problem solved and a friend to help with the children, Ivy felt that a beautiful life was beckoning to her.

At seven o'clock in the evening, Ivy arrived at Blossom Fitness Club. "Ivy, over here," the person in charge waved at her from a distance.

"I'm here!" Ivy hurriedly ran forward but accidentally bumped into a man.

"Who is this! So reckless!" Someone next to the man reproached. "Was it my recklessness, or was it your fault..." Ivy's voice trailed off as she saw the face of the person she had bumped into. Although they had only met once, she had already etched his handsome face into her mind. Just after telling the children that their father had passed away, she bumped into him.
